Rodan (1957) - Kong '33 sound FX

  • Sound effects from King Kong (1933) which appear in the Americanized version of Rodan (1957). Listen for repurposed dinosaur growls and the screams of Fay Wray (!) and Murray Spivack.
    RKO was the original distributor of the King Bros cut of Rodan before DCA took over, though they did handle distribution of the film in overseas markets. Thus the King Bros editors must have had access to RKO's sound library. Coincidentally RKO would go on to release "The Mysterians" in 1959, though once again distribution was taken over by another company, this time MGM.

    I noticed that when the cops are killed by the meganulon it's the same sound effect of the guy being mauled by the Brontosaurus from King Kong

    Did they have access to the RKO sound effects library?

      This cut was made by RKO.

      They had a sound of the original King Kong, 1933… were guys falling off the tree

      There are two DVDs released by classic Media
      one from 2002 which only includes the american cut and another one from around 2008 which includes both Japanese and American cuts.
