A simple "thank you" at 80 years old, I have a much clearer understanding of the new ways AI can be of great service to the church, its schools, parishes, etc. I only wish I could be around to see all your efforts come to fruition.!!
I love attending streaming masses, especially when I am right there live. I belong to a Catholic church, but I can attend every day thanks to live streaming masses. Perhaps, streaming church services my be an unsung blessing of Covid.
Augmented Reality and VR Tech is already used greatly in Asia now particularly in China. Like example, during a very important meeting, a LIVE full digital 3D image of the person is there in the meeting, sitting there, partaking in the meeting LIVE with image of the person in 3D. Take note its LIVE 3D, not a screen, not a 2D emoji, its a LIVE 3D of the person in that meeting room. It looks like a Ghost but at least he truly like hes there instead of just a screen. Now, imagine that for those who cannot walk anymore but can go LIVE in Vatican through VR. Like WOW. I am excited for the right use of Technology especially for the Church, to use it for Evangelization, WOW. I am excited.
I have often said that AR and VR technology is going to change many things. I hope for the better, but I have not until now considered how it could impact the Church. I believe sports could move from actual players to digital 3D and this could see grounds become unnecessary as we watch online, or in a theatre like environment. Now I am excited to think that as I pray or contemplate on Jesus’s journey I could actually see and hear the word of God, and feel as if actually there.
I'm torn. Technology has brought mass into the homes of people who would have never been able (or wanted to) step foot in a church. Like money, I believe that Technology could be used for good or evil.
Today we are able to verify or reject miracles of the past such as the Shroud of Turin and related results from double blind studies of Eucharistic hosts turned to flesh and blood. Proving the miraculous of the tilma portrait of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
I have the video of the March 27, 2020 Urbi et Orbi saved on my tablet. Seeing that live back then, I saw the strength of our faith and prayer, and the world would survive. Every time I watch that I feel blessed. Is that technically true? Don't know, don't care. I feel the presence of God.
Yes, the blessing received from a LIVE Urbi et Orbi even through a TV, RADIO, its the same blessing received if you are in person at that time in Vatican.
I love the idea of AI tech coming into its own. I am nearly 80 and I love technology. Though, I, on my very fixed income cannot afford the monthly cost of Hallow. Just an fyi for future developments .
The Amen app is free. It has great free content. There's a paid option with additional content, but the free version gives me what I'm most interested in hearing.
I am both interested in this episode yet terrified about it at the same time as a Christian. I embrace technologies for evangelism or restitution. I’ve always struggled with change especially threats to life and spirituality.
Hmmm. You"re probably right at least at first. Then think of the time I brought my athiest niece to my church, as it was so important to me and I wanted her to understand when I talked to her about my e experiences. We are quietly standing in the back during mass. She then tugs on my arm, "aunt Julie, this is a holy place. You can feel it." The look on her face, she was spooked out. I trust when Jesus returns the power will be undeniable.
Technology has already affected, and will continue to affect, the religions of this world. However, it cannot affect the never-changing Savior and His eternal word. Technology is an idol of the world, but God's people have been cautioned: "Keep yourselves free from idols." "Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever."
It’s interesting to observe that the episode doesn’t seem to address, with sufficient specificity and length, the evils that AI poses. AI is an expression of technology, which to be sure, has done good and bad simultaneously. Sadly, man’s inkling for evil will manifest its way into AI (eg bias and prejudice programmed into AI) and such concerns were not adequately addressed in the video. The video lauded AI as a new tool in a kit that the Church should use for her benefit; it is worthwhile that the video explored those avenues through which she can use AI as a servant of the Gospel. However, the video made little criticism of AI, failing to anticipate its misuse or its repercussions in society and/or the Church, eg proliferation of child abuse material, increasing dependence on AI, how one should develop a theology and philosophy that properly orients our relationship between God, man, and AI, the perversion of inward thinking AI. Gives rise etc. Perhaps do a video exploring such issues. Thank you for your ministry brothers =)
I have to be mindful of ensuring AI is adding to my life, and not becoming a new authority. We went through a time in early internet years that many thought if it was online, it was true. We know better now. So use AI, but the human element, human review, is still essrntial. I would not use it for spiritual direction. Why? Because as good as AI is, I do not trust it will be open to the movements of the Holy Spirit, and I depend on that.
Yes the Roman Catholic Church is and was for the most part a promoter of scientific thought and research. But to have this discussion without mentioning the Church’s treatment of Galileo is a continuation of this embarrassing segment of Church history!
It will be a sad day when Christian artists are replaced by AI. No computer can generate the depth and beauty of art that is conceived in the human mind and created by the human hand with God-given talent. I will never waste my money on AI "art." Consider that the word "artificial" is in its name - it's absolutely artificial, false, phony, bogus, deceptive, and inauthentic.
I've wondered the same thing. As more and more things that we have always taken on faith are now proven fact, will thar actually make it harder to live in faith, and not just by our intellect? Good question.
I got a good question as well because yours was awesome but anyway, with how Pope Francis has been throughout his reign as Pope, if he doesn't decide to go to the bottom door of Vatican City and decide to read the original name of God in Hebrew with is around 214 syllables if anybody who has the ability and the knowledge to do so. Also, with how every moment of every day things are being recorded throughout the world and anything can be found out about the whole entire world within a phone we don't need libraries anymore unless you want to read a good book for free LOL then more and more, as more is being invented and created, And it gets recorded all around the world how they saw Holy Angels and record demon possessions true exorcisms which is just around the corner and then there will be no more mystery to God god, in turn, would have to end the world in its entirety because his main goal is for us to freely love him above everything or anyone else and to give us the free will to choose him and what he's called us to do, it would only compel us against our will two worship Him that's😮 what scares me
Too much control from a non human. Just look at how negatively job searches are because of technology created gates. It is a mess. When you need a person there is no one! Think of customer service, when did you last get a person that did not take you sometimes hours to get a human . And we want to do this with the spiritual and the church . We need valid holy vocations not more AI.

Im tired of technology, the dopamine addiction in this country is overwhelming. I switched to a flip phone 2 weeks ago. So freeing.
I am thinking about getting rid of my cell phone and going back to a house phone
I bought a record player and am buying used records for $1 a piece. Done with this non-human music.
Blessed Carlo Acutis pray for us 🙏
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I am starting my free trial of Hallow because of this wonderful show. Thank you and Gos bless.
Good to see you Thaddeus!

The hardest thing with AI is eliminating bias in the training information and the difficulty in validating the truthfulness of the info.
I pray for God to use the technology for good and not evil. My hope is in Him. The greater the darkness the greater the light.

I agree

AI is frightening because when Jesus returns I can hear the cries of the atheists saying it’s all AI

What if the kernel at the foundational base is incorrect?

Technology is an idol of the world, but God's people have been cautioned: "Keep yourselves free from idols."

Coming soon: Artificial Divinity.
How about virtual confession
Confession (and all Sacraments) must be done face-to-face with a priest.
Abominable intelligence has no place in dictating human life, I do not trust it and nor should anyone else, it is a sorcery.

It is utterly impossible for AI to be spiritual or to generate anything authentically spiritual. It's totally artificial, i.e. counterfeit.
Oh my gosh, ignorance is bliss for me.
Surprised that how technology has been used to prove certain discoveries have proved certain beliefs are real. You are now!

Do you think Jesus’ second coming will come quicker because we’re moving closer to understanding some stuff??
I guess dumb question

I don’t like the creepy thumbnails. It really makes me feel uncomfortable!
Too much talking. Give some specific EXAMPLES to illustrate the term you are trying to explain
Ryan S., you need a new microphone. Or just speak up.
