- Eight people were killed and more than 40 others were hurt in a bus crash in Florida early Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

My husband was hit by a drunk driver at 5:30 in the morning on his to work at the hospital.

When a driver is driving drunk, and in an accident there are so relaxed that when the accident happens, (which it is no accident when one is driving drunk, or high on pills) they feel hardly anything, because their body is so relaxed from the liquor. While the ones who get really hurt or die there body tenses up, making the body become stiff, and harder to relax in such cases. When something happens when the body is tensed, which makes the accident worse on their body.

We can't just use prison to solve every problem, we need to rehabilitate people. This is a mental health crisis.
The most damage Al Qaeda did to America was shift law enforcement and justice and legal policies from crime prevention (as they had begun moving towards in the early to mid 90s in an effort to... Wait for it...prevent crime instead of just react to it) back to the old "fight crime" model of waiting for the crime to happen and then react to it.
This occurred because police forces began fancying themselves as quasi military units that were focused on fighting Al Qaeda in the streets of Every Town, USA. Obviously, that didn't happen and then all the crime prevention money had been redirected to tactical gear and training and tactical vehicles that law enforcement must find excuses to use to justify the wasted investment.
Meanwhile, crime isn't being prevented. The underlying issues that lead people to break the unwritten social contract aren't addressed and here we are, wondering why someone who's self medicating with alcohol, living through that legal addiction, had killed a bus full of people or shot up a church or what have you.
