I like the lack of combo weapons in DR1 because it further emphasizes that anything laying around is a weapon and you just have to use whatever you can get your hands on. Sometimes it's something like a baseball bat, and sometimes it's a bottle of ketchup. Reminds of the scene in Shaun Of The Dead where they throw records at zombies.
Agreed, the combo weapons is a natural evolution of that "these objects go together I'm glad I got my hands on a broom to put a machete on so I'm farther away from the zombies"

bro have some cool scottish accent. Love your comment on the whole series! I personally like Dead Rising 3 more than 2. I am totally agree with how you appreciate 2, but Dead rising 3 is a different story. To me it is like a gta with some real content, instead of crime simulator that just stealing car and killing random people and stealing car. The unrealistic combo weapon may look ridiculous, but they are so interesting and full of imagination, free from reality. The unlimited type of weapon spread over the map, and all the collectable makes fun to find all of them.
Hot take, on my list I would put DR3 above DR2. The lack of pressure with the timer started with DR2, only difference is that DR3 had so many small tasks, quests, easter eggs and collectibles to discover that the 7 days went by pretty quick. I would put DR2 in A tier and DR3 on par with Dead Rising.
I’ve only ever played 2 and Off the Record, when I was a kid like 10 years ago lmao. I really enjoyed them then tbf. I’ll probably pick the new remake up in September, as I’ve been looking for a reason to play these games more
Personally I’d switch Case Zero and Case West. That factory setting in Case West was so bad and boring, I prefer the openness of Case Zero enough to put it a tier higher (or maybe same tier - Case West gets a bump for being co-op)
For me it would be S class: Dead Rising 1, Dead Rising OTR B class: Dead Rising 2, DR2 case zero, DR2 case west C class: Dead rising 3 F class: Dead rising chop till you drop, dead rising 4 S = The very best B = fantastic C = standard F = failure
Hot take... I really enjoyed Dead Rising Case West (dlc arcade game) more than dread rising 2. Not sure why as I never really got into the timer system... But dear god did I hate dead rising 4 as it was just compounding every issue people didn't like to the point that while I might have liked the removal of the timer... The rest was just so awful it didn't matter. So even the theoretical target audience didn't enjoy dead rising 4. I just would like Case West back on a more modern system to have some fun with even if it wasn't as beloved to the rest of the fandom as the main series games. Dead Rising 4 just needs to be marked as a reason for what they did wrong and then learn from it as the story... That really killed any hint of enjoyment you could get from it.
Id say dr2 otr is the best game in the series not because its the only dead rising game i own but because of its sandbox mode. Dead rising was the perfect game for sandbox mode but they never implemented it until dr2 otr. Infinity mode in the original doesnt really count since you couldnt save the game and your health deteriorats over time so certain foods cant spawn which is why id say dr2 otr is the best one. That and its freaking frank west
Your tier list is pretty much exactly the same as mine, but I'd put 4 in C Tier I don't think it's a bad game, just not what I'd call Dead Rising. If you separate it from the rest of the games, it's a pretty fun zombie-killing game.
Off The Record will always the GOAT to me and the true sequel to the first game Original 2,3 and 4 can be some alternate timeline. 1 and OTR feel like a complete story as a part 1 and 2.
Dead Rising 3 is actually my first Dead Rising that I’ve played and I enjoy it a lot (so far) so I personally think that Dead Rising 3 should be at least A tier. Maybe my opinion would be different if I decided to play Dead Rising 1 and 2 first instead considering you mention a lot of points that seem reasonable but I can’t comment on right now since my lack of experience with the series but as of right now I think it’s still a pretty cool game. Great job on the video broski 👍
Dead rising 3 isn't a bad game. It's just very different from the others. No saving survivors, super lenient timer, etc. I think it's alright, not bad, but not the best.
@@thebananagamer56 That's fair although I don't get what you mean by there being no saving of survivors cause you can still save survivors in game unless you're referring to something I'm not aware of.
