I had the privilege of knowing this family soon after Melissa was baptized. I cannot say enough good about them. When Scott came back to the Church, he came back with all of his heart and Melissa had her heart fully into it also. Scott was the ward mission leader, and he treated the ward missionaries like a family that he was the father of and trained us how to love and help the members struggling in our ward. Scott and Melissa invited several struggling families into their large home for big group family home evenings and inspirational lessons that made big differences in their lives. He divided the ward missionaries into pairs to go visit these same families and the new members. And he just loved them. His love for the Lord was palpable and influential. Their family was probably the most influential family in the ward.
I was a ward missionary when I lived in New Mexico. I wish we had ward missionaries here in Utah. Heck, I wish we "had" missionaries in Utah. Surprisingly, there are very few missionaries in Utah. The ward we live in now, the missionaries serve 10 wards. We've only seen them once. Is it because everybody in Utah either is a member or has already rejected the church? I don't know.
@@Kaydubbbb It's me simply trying to understand why the church fails to properly staff it's wards with missionaries. We need missionaries here in Utah also, not just to convert people, there are many more reasons. I find it odd that a missionary pair has to cover 10 wards.
PLEASE continue these testimonials! So many of us are heartbroken watching our children leave the restored Gospel - and these experiences give so much hope!
It’s so interesting to me how people experience the Church, differently. I am 60 years old, and my relatively inactive parents took me to Church often enough that I totally identified with it. My home life was unstable once my parents divorced and I was often sad as I was shuffled here and there. Prayer and Jesus Christ was my solace. Going to Church, although alone, the members in it, Joseph Smith, the early pioneer history, and the “rules,”all spoke to me so strongly. I saw the Church and its teachings as a way out of a lifestyle I wanted no part of. I feel like I learned about how to be a patient parent, how to be a loving and faithful spouse, and how to rely on Christ at the LDS Church. I am SO grateful that I was born into a family that, even though they weren’t fully in, introduced me to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
These are two amazing stories in one, not because things fell into place for either of you, but because it was a massive struggle that finally worked out. It is the very essence of Israel, which literally means "wrestle with God." Thanks for sharing.
Thank you all three of you for putting this out there on the internet. I love hearing stories like this because it helps remind me to keep praying and keep believing and don't give up hope. I've been LDS my whole life and although I still hold an active calling as a Sunday School teacher right now, I've been having a hard time with getting my whole family to church. My wife is struggling with various mental and spiritual issues, our kids are 5 and 2 respectively, and to complicate it even more....almost every single person in my family is either vaguely agnostic now or completely atheist. And we were that picture perfect LDS family for most of my life. I've really struggled with that. I still struggle knowing that I'm practically the only one in my entire family now living the gospel when it was so prevalent in my entire family's lives. But channels like this are helping me to keep going. I firmly believe in the restoration and no matter how hard the social pressures to leave the church get, or how opposed to the church my family is, I will never deny what I know to be true. Truth doesn't change just because the social construct and world order does.... period.
Don’t give up! I left the church for 20 years and there were no signs that I would ever return. God intervened in the most perfect way, later in my life. I came back. No one could believe it
Hang in there, I understand in many ways. In coming time you will need to ground yourself even more in the Atonement Of Jesus Christ. Do your best to manage your own salvation while caring the best you can for kids and wife. I know so often you will wonder if they are even listening or learning g during FHE etc, but you just do your best son, make it fun for the kids teach most basic principles and just keep trying, keep your eye on the Lord.
I have the same issues with extended family members. It breaks my heart. We can all be strong together! I love the Comeback podcast as it truly brings light, hope and truth into the world.
Stay strong brother. I was born in the Church, hated it growing up because of an atmosphere in the home that completely contradicted everything about the church but yet it was shoved down my throat. I was in a dark place as a teenager and during that time God blessed me with an incredible powerful experience with my bishop at age 15. At age 17 after being kicked out of my home, I left the Church for 21 years! All the long knowing the Church was true and never denied that experience. However, was not ready and wanted nothing to do with the Church. Awesome story how I came back but brother, it’s worth fighting for and I know you know that. So great to be back. They thrusted me into callings before I felt I was ready but it’s helped me tremendously. You got this because as in 2 Kings:16, “for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.”
So beautiful!! I loved the way they both expressed their journey to build a personal relationship with the Savior! Thank you so much for sharing and for the example of faith. In a world of such darkness, anger and hate, we need as many stories of light as we can get!! And the source of light is absolutely Jesus Christ for anyone and everyone who will let him in!!
Were you converted from CHRIST to Joseph? "Before Abraham was, I AM" so the Jews picked up stones to kill him; Jn. 8:58. If the Jews knew JESUS clearly said HE is the I AM that I AM, eternal being, why do you believe HE was conceived by a sexual act with a queen of heaven? Who do you believe Joseph or JESUS? Heb 7 says JESUS is Melchisedec. Verse 3 clearly says JESUS was "Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days nor end of life; but made like unto the SON of GOD; abideth a Priest continually". Why do LDS not believe JESUS is WORD YHWH when HE says HE is with GOD from the beginning? Jn.1:1. Is it because the stone seer said JESUS isn't eternal aways existed so he could sell you on being a god also? If it was a lie in Gen. 3 what makes it true in the BoM?
This is a beautiful story. I love how God met them at their own church and drew them to Him. He is so good. If we love God and love our neighbors and truly seek Him, he draws us to him. I loved this video
Thank you for bringing out that each person has there own conversion moment . I 'm so glad that Heavenly Father and His Son knows what each of us needs.
This is such an awesome story! And a beautiful reminder that we need to teach our children about who Christ is and help them to have a relationship with him. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Love this pod case. Love this story. I know so many will find answers to what they need as a result of each of you sharing your experience of coming unto Christ. Thanks. Father in Heaven will bless you and family with so much, both temporally and spiritually. And as a parent of wayward adult children you have given your parents a priceless gift, returning to the fold of God.
This is the best so far, though I have not listened to all of them, but Scott and Melissa's experiences are relevant to many who have left the church. The key I got from this is, being humble and willing to act on God's promptings, no matter how hard it may seem.
Thank you for the reassurance that there is a way for everyone to come to Christ. Miracles are real. It will happen in my family too. I will patiently continue to pray and look for signs of progress. Thank you so much for sharing your journey.
Love 25:10 too. “By this time I had developed this habit that what I do is I wake up every morning and I read the scriptures for a long time. … I’m changing into a way better person. I’m kinder … I see the fruit of what’s happening and I want this.”
What a powerful witness of God's love for his children. I felt the confirming influence of the Holy Ghost over and over again as Scott and Melissa shared their story. Their journey brings hope to the world that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is for all ... even the very stubborn...right Melissa :) And their story brings inexpressible joy to those who yearn for their children to "come back" Bless you Scott and Melissa (and the wonderful Come Back Podcast).
WOW!!! I have been so spiritually fed this afternoon while listening to this wonderful podcast. Thank you for sharing your journey with me. My testimony has again been confirmed that Jesus is the Chris and our Heavenly Father wants us all to be blessed with the church in our lives. Scott and Melissa, you are so very precious brother and sister to me. One day, I would love to meet you. My love, from the state of Washington ❤❤
I listened to this episode on Apple Podcasts, and I'm so impressed with Scott and Melissa! They are absolutely inspirational, and I want to be their best friends! I have absolutely felt the same empowering experience with the gift of the Holy Ghost. It's amazing that we really can know everything we need to know and to do in this life through the Holy Ghost! It's truly a gift. And this gives me hope for so many who I hope someday return to the fold!
I agree with what Ashley said at the end, I am better for hearing this testimony. I’ve cried several times through this one. I don’t think I’ve cried through any others, and I just really relate to Melissa and her hardheaded ness and and her way of having to get to know the spirit and know what’s right for her this was so beautiful.
I was deeply touched and inspired by this amazing comeback story! You are both a pillar of light and your testimony radiates joy and encouragement!!!! Please don’t ever turn off your lights ! Blessings !!!!!!!!!
I cried when she had the opportunity to be touched by the sister missionaries. I had sister missionaries that were in my life at a the perfect time. Such a special experience.
Thank you Scott and Melissa for sharing your amazing stories and testimonies! I could relate in many ways. Thank you for your willingness to share. Your story has blessed my life and will inspire so many others. Thank you Ashley for your work with this podcast.
Loved your stories. You guys are so real. I appreciate your honesty and transparency. We need to hear that more often. I agree Jesus Christ is our focus. Brings me joy to see how much the gospel has blessed you.
Thank you both for sharing your story, I felt own experience echoed when Melissa wondered why her journey had to be so hard and deciding she wouldn't have appreciated it as much otherwise. My journey was so long and so much more difficult than others usually talked about. But I appreciate my experience now. And God can use it.
Very inspiring story. This is indicative of how the Spirit can touch our hearts to the core. I pray for your continued devotion to one another and to the Lord by serving in His Holy House. Thank you for the blessing of sharing your story. It gives me hope that my wife will be blessed to be touched by the Holy Ghost in like manner. God bless all of you.
You have an amazing st 51:15 ory how Heavenly Father purifies your faith, your one valiant son of God even in the pre existence that's why the adversary so desperate to snatch you off ..your wife too Both of your story of conversion is such and inspiration for those who are still trying to find thier way back home to God..
This podcast is EXCELLENT. THANK YOU so much for sharing your experience 🙏🏼. I, too, felt like I grew up in the law of Moses: rules and shame. But Heaven is building and preparing a Zion people. The Spirit is being poured out to those who are willing to put in the work to know Him. Personal revelation is real.
I think this is my favorite episode so far! Thanks for your time, effort sacrifice in keeping this podcast going. I love the mission of this podcast so much!

Oh, yes, born and grown LDS, as a kid, the church taught me that the Holy Ghost can have an influence on members of other denominations. They may not have the gift of constant companionship from the Holy Ghost, but like everyone in the world, they have the constant influence of the Light of Christ, along with the occasional visit of the Holy Ghost. That’s why I have respect for other faiths and participate in their worship when I visit. Sunday ngt - March 24, 2024.
Hard to tell which spirit one is dealing with. Joseph Smith said he was deceived by Satan when sending Oliver Cowdery off to sell the copyrights of the book of Mormon. If Joseph could be deceived so easily perhaps we should rely on common sense more often.
I was on the treadmill watching this wonderful podcast. The hour flew by…thank you for sharing your stories and testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
"JESUS' ❤ HAS NO LIMIT,HIS GRACE VHAS NO MEASURE,HIS POWER HAS NO BOUNDARIES KNOWN UNTO MEN... For out of his infinite riches in Jesus he giveth and giveth and giveth AGAIN!!! James 4:6 WOW HOW THAT POWER REALLY WORKED IN UR LIVES!! THX 4 SHARING!!😂
Once again, another incredible episode. What inspiring people these two angels are. I agree, the podcast gives a great view of how big Jesus is. So many different stories, struggles, addictions, etc, but non are forgotten to God. It gives me so much hope for friends or family who are in their own path right now. I do not have a “comeback” story, but these strengthen my testimony! ❤
I occasionally watch Come Back Podcast seeking hope for my children, and patience for me to wait on the Lord. Today's podcast has hit me harder than any other has. Thank you Melissa and Scott for helping me to see that there are many different winding roads back to the Savior. Thank you also for sharing your experiences with personal revelation. You have truly blessed my life today. Thank you!
Interesting take. I am pretty close to this man’s age, I was lucky to have TONS of friends, but other than that I had a testimony of Jesus also. I also knew at a younger age that Jesus was on earth for only 33 years. Everything else we knew of him came from not from him but though prophets, pastors, preachers, etc., so obviously I knew the names of those prophets and we quoted their names while talking about Christ and the gospel at church, often Joseph’s name came up while discussing the Gospel of a Christ in church. The ancillaries, all focused on Christ, in my opinion. We all take things differently, I was not cursed/blessed with a rebellious spirit, I struggled with chastity (not sexual intercourse) but nothing else really interested me and I could feel the difference between obedience and disobedience of commandments. I had awesome nonmember grandparents but who were always drunk (not bad, just not REAL) my whole life. I watched a young lady die on a beach at a lake who was drunk swimming, I watched my friends make weird choices while drunk at their underage drinking parties, and really learned to see the *wisdom* in The Word of Wisdom. I’m glad that these two shared their story. I just wish the culture of the church wasn’t always the target of such negativity, I think people blow it out of proportion. I think if more people opened their damn scriptures we’d all be better off overall. It’s not just about “saying Jesus’” name, or accepting Christ as our Savior, it’s PUTTING THAT INTO ACTION! Thanks for sharing. Love this podcast. We are all different obviously, regardless, Christ asks us to become one with him.
Listening to this young couple has been so inspiring and uplifting and helping me to better understand how to walk more faithfully And unfortunately I have children roughly the same age as Scott and I remember what it was like as a parent thinking you had to have everything perfect your children have to be perfect and you were so right it has change so much and it’s so much more relaxed and you hear more about the love of Christ in God and how they will meet you where you’re at you really have accomplished greatest thing
Satan aka cognitive dissonance. The logical side of your brain says this stuff makes no sense and the spiritual side says you want to believe. When you are in the temple your decision to be there has suppressed all logic.
I love this story! I'm sure Scott doesn't remember me personally, but I remember him. As newlyweds, my husband and I were in his family ward for 9 years, and I was friends with his mom. I worked with the Young Women, so knew his sister as well. I remember one Youth Conference, or some activity, where there was a track meet. Scott came to run, and I remember cheering him on, knowing he was in a tough space at that time, and I could see the anger in his face as a young man. I felt love and concern for him, wondering what would happen. The movie about this happened to "pop up" on his mom's Facebook feed when it was first released, and I was so touched by it, and excited to see what has happened. I hadn't had any contact with his mom at all. As a teenage convert myself, I am so grateful for all the miracles that showed up in my life to bring the Gospel to me and my family. Thanks for sharing your story of love and hope and God's tender mercies.
My heart breaks because I have an adult child that is floundering with a "rebellious" spirit. There are so many out there that have pulled away from the spirit because the world is so enticing. We just keep loving them and praying for them. Alma the elder prayed for his son and an angel appeared to him. So, I keep praying. I have the faith that the Lord will bring our children and all of us to Him. Jesus is so loving and knows where we are at. He knows us individually, by name.

And the love of money gives it elsewhere. the problem is Jesus is now my best friend and total savior from sin....True Jesus does not go by feelings to make what is against the bible to be true. I am born a Jew taught to reject the Jesus of the Bible too, but now He is my best friend and savior from sin. Simple. When people get caught in Joseph Smith the most questionable sinner's truths, they become a family believing the absurd that they will become a God someday. and Jesus lied saying He is the only God and the creator of all things in the beginning = John chapter 1.pray the best for all and share Jesus true loe with them.
It doesn’t get cooler than this. Thank you.

awesome couple awesome experiences awesome hostess and awesome podcast 🌞
Awesome experiences! Thank you for sharing!
How wonderful!!
Another amazing come back podcast! Thank you both for sharing your story.
That’s it- I’m buying merch.
You rock!
@@robertaugust2610 how do we know what you say about Smith is true?
Thank you!
Boy, what a beautiful testimony these two faithful souls❤ have. Thank you so much.
Many excellent points. Well said!
I agree.
LOVE THIS....your story is so many of our stories. GOD IS SO SO GOOD!!
I love the idea of this channel 👏
You got a new sub sis ❤

Scott and Melissa, thank you for sharing your journey and testimony.
What a darling couple! Thank you so much for sharing your story!❤️
I loved this episode so much!
Thank you for sharing..I loved hearing about your journey and the tender mercies of Our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in your life.❤
One of the best podcasts on the web.
Thank you for sharing this amazing story. I love these podcasts so much ❤❤
Satan tries to stop you when you are on your way to the temple until you get there
And then he continues to work on us. He never stops so we must always be on guard
Every single time
He pulled me over tied me up and took my car keys.
@@johnrowley310 I feel your pain
Satan aka cognitive dissonance. The logical side of your brain says this stuff makes no sense and the spiritual side says you want to believe. When you are in the temple your decision to be there has suppressed all logic.
What beautiful testimonies. Thank you for sharing your journey!
This is amazing!!
What a great story!
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Real stories about real hearts
❤ this!! Thank you for your testimonies. I'm struggling right now...i needed to hear someone keeping it real.
We are rooting for you!
I'm a convert, but I still miss the enthusiastic singing of hymns of praise in other Christian churches I have attended.
That’s hard. I like listening to KLove, I do wish we had robust singing and praising firesides or something like that.
Incredible! Wow
Loved this! ❤
This was a wonderful testimony! Thank you for your story
Thank you everyone, I am edified
I’ve heard this 4 x and really enjoyed it
And enjoyed the difficulty journey stories
This story is for many of us. I recognize so much of this that I had nearly forgotten.
Awesome story🙏🏼🔥 also bro looks like the UFC fighter Michael Chandler! Makes me like him even more 🤣
I felt the spirit so much while listening to this
Beautiful story! Thank you for sharing! ❤❤
I’m not done yet but 24:15 brought tears to my eyes!
This is such an incredible story that I will never forget
Beautiful story ❤
My heart breaks because I have an adult child that is floundering with a "rebellious" spirit. There are so many out there that have pulled away from the spirit because the world is so enticing. We just keep loving them and praying for them. Alma the elder prayed for his son and an angel appeared to him. So, I keep praying. I have the faith that the Lord will bring our children and all of us to Him. Jesus is so loving and knows where we are at. He knows us individually, by name.
I love that they found their way back through a wonderful Christian church.
Love this episode
I am Scott as well and married a Melissa as well with 4 kids. Great to hear your story.
