Backpacking in Canyonlands National Park: Needles District

- I escaped mud season in the mountains to take a backcountry navigation course and go backpacking with a long time friend in Canyonlands National Park. For my course, I was lucky to do the Chesler Par Loop, and for fun, I was lucky to string together several trails in the backcountry of the Needles District. Water in the desert is scarce (read nonexistent on this trip), which made for a challenge, but the beauty of the Needles made it more than worthwhile.

Such a beautiful and unique scenery my friend , lovely film and narration!
thank you so much!
Great scenery. Thanks for taking the time to film and share.
Thank you! And thanks for watching. I feel like filming helps me appreciate it even more.
This made me really miss living in the southwest. The gorgeousness is just too abundant there. Also, props to Elise for adding to her skill set. I'm liking the idea that she can more likely get herself out of a bad situation and continue making more videos for me to watch. Good for you, Elise!
It’s so beautiful! I feel lucky it’s close enough to drive. And thank you! That’s my hope!
great narration and story telling with the video, keep it up
thank you!!
Looks like an incredible trip!
Canyonlands was the last of the seven parks I visited when I went through Arizona and Utah, and I was wrecked by that point so I didn't give it nearly the justice it deserved. I can't wait to go back.
Also, I love my OR Ferrosi pants.
I still have to visit the other districts! I feel like I saw a good amount of needles in a week but could still go back for more.
@@eliseott Yep, it could be three separate parks. I only really saw Island in the Sky.
I love the Ultimate Terrain Gander Trailhead Olive Hiking Pants - Womens hiking pants! I wear them for work, hiking, ect. They are so comfortable, light, and dry quickly.
thanks for the rec!
Canyonlands is just one of the coolest place I have been! So much to see there! And compass and a map are a must!
It’s so so cool!! And yes I’m so glad I’m learning to incorporate it, makes the adventures feel that much more fun.
Loved this trip report!!
thank you!!
Got free land nav from the military ;)
Jealous!! But you certainly paid in service.
@@eliseott Understatement of the century...
@@TheJkilla11 I can only imagine! Thank you though. We did have a guy in the land nav course with a military background and I think he still got some use out of it (mostly just the aspect of translating what they do in the military to how civilians typically do it.)
This is more of a me issue, but the narrating was too fast for me. Caused me to get overwhelmed
Watch it at a lower speed then
honestly I kinda noticed this too during editing, I cut out my breathing, but should have left the natural pasues in I think. As Jake said it might help to watch at .75 or something!
