When you were still turning it on the lathe I couldn't help but think how cool those would look as a finial on an outdoor deck with a light in them or at Each corner of a headboard with lights.
That's how a lot of my blanks look! But they don't always come out that well. Great collaboration with Charlie.

I was literally thinking about Chess pieces before he started drawing the knights head. I wasn't even expecting it to be an actual chess piece!
if you drill out the bottom of the knight piece - you could always put a bottle stopper end on it so it sits in a bottle on display. came out great by the way!
Hi, Nick! Great collaboration. Recently, I was watching a video of a woodworker making a "sand art" bottle out of sawdust from different species of wood. It was quite interesting to look at the angled layers of color from very light to very dark and back again. It made me think of your work with resin and how you might caputre that look and turn it into a bottle shape vase. Can a sand art style resin blank be made from sawdust? If so, would you be able to turn that into something even more interesting and beautiful? Just an idea that I think is right up your alley.

I know you don't want to make a full chess board, but you could make a bishop or or king chess piece out of the other blank.

My youngest(my son) was officially 18 in May. So I'm sad. All my babies are grown. Your kids are adorable cookie❤️❤️❤️.

Sometimes I wish you would leave those super funky cool blanks in the original shape and just do your super polishing and make them ornaments. This one reminded me of murky water

This is a beautiful piece, and, to chime in with everyone else... make the chess set. You could make molds from the originals, then maybe make sets! Gorgeous work, Nick, and good job on the blanks, Charlie!
