Every time a insurance commercial comes on you are the first person that pops in my head. Now doesn't sound d to bad till u realize I'm on here all day and play games on mobile so hundred ads minimum a day half are the lizard so u are on my min all day. Little unsettling
Many years ago, my family and I, visited the Waterford crystal factory, where we were shown a one off piece. The glass blower had blown a bowl which on inspection showed a row of small bubbles. It was about to be smashed, when an engraver stopped him. He took it away and engraved a gold fish below the row of bubbles. It's now on display in the Waterford crystal museam. So you see, on man's imperfection, is another man's inspiration
If you ever have a similar blank with lots of bubbles and want to try something different, you could drill long and relatively thin (3mm?) channels into it (so that all the air chambers are connected) - which can make a lot of different patterns (from the 'bottom' only for a less invasive look, parallel lines all the way through for a stricter feel, or spherically oriented towards the center for a 'starburst' effect), then fill in the voids with coloured resin - fluorescent with a UV light would make it pop (if the UV can penetrate deep enough into the resin, it tends to soak up a fair bit). That would make turning it a bit easier, as well. Just a thought.
Kinda like the jelly cake art? They inject colour into clear, set jelly with needles and syringes. I watched some of that on Netflix this afternoon and you could be onto something.
With the wood, and the bubbles, and that color, it looks like natural Amber. It's absolutely beautiful! I'm so glad that you didn't put it in the bin ♥
No possession can replace the love I lost when he died. He loved watching you create something from what others seen as nothing. His memories I feel by watching you create. Thank you. I love still through you.
I’m deeply sorry for your loss. I have lost my Dad as well as my wife’s Dad in this year. My dad died of cancer and died in his sleep. My wife’s dad got taken from Covid-19. Within a 3 month span. These videos are my inspiration to create!!
I remember that project where that wood got stuck in there. It is so cool that you keep those so-called failed projects, and come back and try and do something with them. That wood sets off the light really really nicely! Another great one! Take care and blessings!
I am a huge Bob Ross fan, I learned so much about art from him. And to see this “Happy Accident” turn out so amazing, even Bob himself would give you a big thumbs up!! I certainly did!!😉🤩🤩👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤗
I know absolutely nothing about woodworking, but these videos makes my brain happy. And when it becomes all smooth and shiny, all the satisfaction ♥️♥️♥️
Hey Nick👋, it’s midnight in the states and I’m so glad you posted a video. I can rest well knowing that the big “Z” is still working his mojo with wood and resin👍. Well, and anything else he can glue, screw, tape, nail, bolt or clamp on his lathe😱. Really enjoy your channel mate, let the good times roll !
What happens if you put a fish tank bubbler in the bottom of a resin bowl (or cylinder tube) and run it while curing? Does it give a gradient of bubbles from many to few?
Absolutely LOVE this lamp. It's stunning! I wish these items you make would be up for sale. Would love to own an original Nick Zammeti piece like this! 🥰🤗
Hey Nick, I am a new sub. I found you over this past week, as I have been recovering from a major surgery. I just want to say, I LOVE the ENERGY you bring to your videos! I have seen a lot of wood and resin turning videos and with your videos, I have finally found a permanent home. You remind me of myself in my craft, filmmaking, and I am always trying to find ways of keeping the crew happy and delighted on set with the same kind of zany energy you have. AMAZING WORK, and thank you for putting a smile on my face, even through the pain.
Couldn't have pictured anything different myself. You have such a creative mind it's boggling. You create great pieces from nothing to the worst mistakes. Love it.
The best thing that excites me about your channel Nick, and I honestly mean this, is the words 'I don't know'. Too many see others an copy. You 'redesign' previous projects. Loverly
That’s the best thing about art. Even the failures can be successes if you think hard enough. Id happily have that light as a lower level mood / reading lamp next to my bed. As the God king Bob Ross said “happy little accidents”. Thanks for reminding me!
Thank you for warning about the lights Nick! Not many people would be so considerate of the people with conditions like epilepsy and migraines that are triggered by lights ❤️
See, Nick, you don't make failures. You've gone back and made some really awesome projects with them. This turned out really cool!! I really like it!! ♥️♥️
Your vids truly always cheer me up Nick, however down I feel, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I lost my husband back in 2015, and I know he’d of loved your stuff, which also gives me a smile.
You mKe me laugh I love your art and. I hope to see you have a showing of your things get your name out there funny man you light up my life along with so many others
I've always loved the unique pieces. Wood turning can be so...Ikea sometimes. Have you ever thought of trying alabaster or soapstone? I just recently found out you can turn rock on a wood lathe with carbide tools.
Would have been pretty if he'd put the solid part down towards the wood piece and the bubbles at the top. Just sanded where the bubbles are instead of breaking off the interesting part.
I love that you kept this and you have made a super funky light with it. You are amazing absolutely love this 😍 I for one have loved everything you have made and love that you waffle...totally cheer me up.
I just love your enthusiasm Nick! You always put a smile on my face! Love your zany ideas as well as your gorgeous work! There are no rules in art and all that matters that you put your heart in and you are happy! Keep waffling on and never give up your talent! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ 😊
I’m so happy to see your notifications that you have a new video!! I hit the like button FIRST before I even watched it because I always like all your videos.
That is totally wicked! I love the way you turned the resin and I was really impressed when you cross drilled the wood base to conceal the wiring for the light!
I've been looking forward to seeing what you would come up with for this intriguing lump since watching the video in which it was first created. And I was not disappointed. Great job Mr Zammeti!
Love it. The bubbles make it look awesome. Everytime you move around the lamp you something different. One side looks like there is a face inside the globe. Love your videos.
It looks like an explosion you captured in resin. The light is perfect, you can see everything. I'm glad you saved it. Nothing is ever a mistake, just a future piece of art.
This shows how resin yellows with age perfectly…it looks like you had colored the resin when you definitely hadn’t. (I just watched the video where you “messed up” - which created this beauty!) Great job! This shows how perfectly you use your creativity!
I think it turned out rather amazing. I love how it looks and I think it would maybe even better with different colors with the light. Well maybe it would. Another great video that was fun to watch.
I love how you fly by the seat of your pants....in other words, make it up as you go along! True artist creativity! Love your work and would love to buy a piece. That would have made a cool doorknob! Thanks for sharing :)
Nick, I have really been enjoying your channel. I watched some of your older videos and I have to say that I really miss the waffling. Keep up the great work and thanks for all the awesome projects!!
Before you start, it looks like a Brandy snifter that was being stirred and you froze it in time. It is so cool!! Can't wait to see what it turns into.
I love the sped up talking. So funny and makes me giggle every time. The work you do is amazing as well, very creative. You are one of my favorite RUclipsrs now(even though I literally just found your channel) I stand by! 😂💪
Hi Nick I really like what you did with this one actually I like all the things you've made, well all the ones I have seen that is. FYI the resin scraping are good for lighting camp fires it dose a great job, I collect mine for when we go camping
I gave up on micromesh years ago. Power sanding with a 2 inch pad on a right angle drill, up to 10,000 grit works way better. It doesn't leave linear scratches like micro mesh. Also a good plastic polish works better than anything else. The Novus system is the best I've used
I love how your brain works! I like to imagine what something will turn out like & you always put a funky twist in the project & it works out! Thanks for the little escape from the real world.
Came across this 3 years later. Nick - Pretty much all you do I really REALLY enjoy. I'd been saving up to buy some stuff for my Mom for Christmas, unfortunately she passed in July. So, whenever I get 'round to it - I'll order from yas. Anyway, keep on creating, I'll keep on watching. Thanks!
Beautiful 😍 Would have loved to see what you could have made if you had tried the vac chamber (to fill the bubbles with a slightly different color so the bubble look wouldn't be lost) to be able to do what you had originally wanted, though. Too bad you didn't have 2.
"...some day... SOME DAY... I'm gonna make something with this... I don't know what... but..." Spoken like a true creative! Cheers to us and our kind!! 🥂🍻🥂🍻🥂 From the southern California desert, USA, MK 😁🏜

I think it's really cool looking
Sweet!
ITS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT PERFECT AND THE PIECE OF INTERIOR WOOD IS BEST PART

I was thinking the same thing filling some of those bubbles with colored resin!
That is a great idea!
Darn i should have read the comments first, my thoughts exactly!
Sounds really cool

It reminds me of honey that has started to crystallize.
Looks like the amber that started Jurassic park. Awesome mess up!

I agree, it does look cool! And you gave power to it's uniqueness with the slanted wood wedge. Kudos.

It looks pretty cool. It's also good that you figured out a way to salvage the Goof up so the resin wasn't wasted.

There are no mistakes, only happy accidents or so Bob Ross always said. I love how your light turned out, it is cool.
I love it! You could make a bunch of these in different colors and have all kinds of lights. That is if you can recreate the bubble effect.
I like that. Lava lamp suspended in time. With the wood base and the color of the resin, makes it looked like a giant ball of tree sap. Thumbs up.
