Testing the Harbor Freight Cross Slide Vise

So I have been using the drill press quite a bit lately and have grown tired of removing and resetting to drill holes in the same part. I went to the Heartless Freight and picked up a cross slide vise to test out. Works great so for fun I tried out some light milling to which I don't recommend because a mill it isn't and there can be a few safety concerns but my shop my problems. And to all you machinist out there all I can simply say is yes I know. But hey cringe away and enjoy.

thanks great video. that piece of advice about the chuck falling out is exactly what I needed. it is scary when that falls out in the middle of a milling operation.

In the past few weeks I drove the 6 hours to Missouri to grizzly tools and bought a g0704 mill.I have also ordered the components to convert the mill to cnc. Yes very crude and worked just good enough to get me by.

2 days ago I bought one at harbor freight for 100 dollars it was on clearance sale now I'm looking for a good use drill press I'm sure with the 2 of them I can make few minor things as I don't have almost 8k for a smithy 3in1 machine

So far it is holding up with out any issues with weekly use. So far of any purchase from there the worst have been screwdrivers and any small power tool

That is a difficult one for me so far everyone i have seen looks like the same thing with a different name. There are cross slide tables that look much better. In the end i ended up buying a 3 axis mill at some point soon i will have a video on that almost finished with the cnc conversion

shane bell thanks I’m just looking for something sturdy so I can do small cutouts for hinges and rack gear. But I still want a professional grade mount for my drill press that slides. So I can make oval cutouts clean with no play or movement.
