When someone talks about the sound of an era it's not about the sound of a certain community it's about a sound that gets global. I hope my English isn't failing to make this idea understandable 🤪
@@marianoprato7971 She has the machine behind her. It's a lot easier for her to go global. Especially back then when hip hop wasn't as large as it is now. She also got sued for "Justify My Love." I like the song but the beat was what really put that song to another level.

OMG, 'Did she make an album that sounded like this?'. Again, catch up on your gay history guys. It's Madonna, so she did! Bedtime Stories is one of her 'darker' albums. The video of the titelsong is AWESOME. My only regret is that she didn't release 'Don't Stop' as a single.

She ended up not releasing this original version because it was filmed just before the US officially invaded Iraq and the controversial music video was set to be released around the same time and she stated she didn't want people to misinterpret the destructive and violent nature of the music video.
The song is from the album American Life, which at the time was her least commercially successful, but in my opinion it's actually one of her best. Definitely one of her most creative and experimental albums. It's got a strong political message, it comments on how 'fame' shouldn't be the ultimate goal in life and it makes the listener question what they consider to be 'the American dream'.

The Open Your Heart video started my Madonna obsession at age 9! I'll always remember my mom called me into the room saying, "Come see this girl!" because she knew I'd like the dancing. Looking back, I realize how cool my mom was encouraging me to watch a video with a peep show lol. She recognized Madonna's talent and the video's pure heart.

the Human Nature video was very influential. It is one of the of the first video to be shot against a white/solid background and have a very minimalistic look. It influenced a lot of the early/mid 00s videos, and even Beyonce cites it as one of her inspirations for the Green light video.

This video and song was very much a response to the backlash she got from Justify My Love, her Sex Book & Erotica album. It was just a big fuck you to the establishment. When she said “would it sound better if I were a man?” Is so true. Many men were singing about sex and sexualising women at the time and nobody (or MTV) had a problem with it... she really didn’t give a fuck and paved the way for so many female artists that are commonplace nowadays.
