  • Danny Granger was an incredible scorer in the NBA during the 2000s. He was one of the most underrated scorers when he was on the Indiana Pacers, but his career fell off very quickly. What happened to Granger?

      Ralph delvalle Fuck Larry Bird! He was so full of himself as a gm and think the young players should just toughen up but fucking ignored little details like team chemistry. Then he fired Vogel because he wanted the team to play like the warriors. Made mcmallian head coach and not only their offense didn't improve but their defense turned garbage last year. Everything went to shit for the pacers after that.

      No. Paul George breaking his leg is what killed that Pacer team...Bird made a bad decision, and it`s a tough call to make, but he should have tanked while PG was out, traded West for a pick, but they lost him for nothing and he took less $. And also Lance left to the Hornets. Granger was not the reason....They went to the ECF without him in 2013 i believe.

      Pacer Fan if they had prime granger and george running wings with george hill they wouldve beat the heat in 2014

    • @Eastra3
      @Eastra3 7 лет назад +22

      Injuries didn't ruin him faster than the business aspect did, and why would an emerging teammate ruin Granger's career when they were playing two different positions? They could have been a dominant SG/SF "wingdom". You know what really ruined his career? The Pacers lack of patience and lack of perspective. They saw Granger struggle back from injury in his contract year, and thought that getting rid of him would be justified by his current play, and would avoid contract disputes at the end of the year. Granger would have wanted to get paid for how he plays when he is healthy, not how he was when playing injured. This is one reason star players coming back from injury in a contract year (IT) need to not only fully recover, but get back into a playing groove before stepping back on the court, so the management has no leverage to do this stuff. The Pacers could have allowed his contract year to be him getting back into a groove, sign him for a 1 year deal, then if he wasn't playing up to par, then they could have traded him and not payed him a lucrative multi-year deal. No! they were impatient, and lacked the big picture.

    • @pacerfan5651
      @pacerfan5651 7 лет назад +8

      Eastra3 I agree but with PG emerging Granger's numbers dropped. Two amazing players that play the same position, one of them's will drop.

      @real96 7 лет назад +1

      Eastra3 the pacers showed it was a good move to trade him though because he certainly wasn't very good after he returned from injury. Trading him didn't ruin the pacers PGs injury did.

    Locker room guys are important just look at the Spurs there is a reason they kept Matt Bonner for so long. Also the reason why Spurs coach Popovich wanted Tim Duncan to come back for his 20th season. Even though Duncan didn't have the numbers he used too, just having him in the looker room would help.

    In hindsight when you see guys like Udonnis Haslem and what he meant to that roster before his retirement, guys like Granger really are undervalued. He would’ve been able to help polish PG13s game more & made him an even more complete player early on, but things happen and it’s unfortunate that Danny G never got his bounce back. Dude was a menace & had he gone to a different organization, it’s possible that his knees would’ve gotten different looks and attention and who knows what would’ve happened next.

    Imagine a starting line-up of Pacers:
    PG: George Hill
    SG: Paul George
    SF: Danny Granger
    PF: David West
    C: Roy Hibbert
    then the bench if stephen jackson, artest, and jermaine came back for the final run from 2011-2014
    PG: Darren Collison
    SG: Stephen Jackson/Lance Stephenson
    SF: Ron Artest
    PF: Jermaine O'neal
    C: Ian Mahinmi

      Lol no way! Paul George is soft for starters. Plus Reggie Miller is one of the most clutch shooters of all time. Not only that, but Reggie was devoted to the Pacers and ONLY the Pacers. He was and will always be a Pacer. Paul George can't hold a torch to Reggie. His defense is better. I'll give him that, but that's the only thing. Reggie Miller = 18 loyal seasons with us and many, many clutch playoff runs. Even helping get us to the finals in 2000 and would have been there again and maybe even won it all in 03/04. Paul George was just a toxic mistake and an over rated softie.

    As a Pacer fan this pains me to watch
    Imagine if he didn’t have those knee issues and was healthy for the 2012-2014 pacers run
    George Hill
    Paul George
    Danny Granger
    David West
    Roy Hibbert
    Lance Stephenson as the 6 man
    That team imo would of made the finals
    Also the pacers trading him destroyed the teams chemistry so much he was the teams leader and PG said he wasn’t ready for the leadership role and the team started being disappointing after a dominant start
    We love Danny here in Indy and wish he could of been healthy for us during that run
