I have immense respect for Earl Boykins. It's tough to be a little man in a game dominated by bigs, but Boykins proved he could score with the best of them. The fact that he carved out a role as a scorer and not a facilitator like other small guards at the time makes him a truly unique player.
If Earl Boykins was 6'4", he'd be the greatest player of all time. Muggsy Bogues, Earl Boykins, and Spud Webb were some of the most talented players to ever lace their sneakers up in the NBA, when you consider their size, and what they had to do to prove themselves worthy to play in a league full of giants. They don't get the recognition they deserve.
If he was 6'4.....he wouldn't be the same player....think about what makes him great...if he's taller he loses that edge and becomes just like anybody else 6'4....we tend to forget this in hypotheticals
Yep. If you're 7'4" you don't need to be a great athlete to make the NBA. You just need to not be a klutz. But anybody under 6 feet playing pro b-ball is an athletic freak of nature.
Funnily enough, when Boykins was on the Nuggets, he was the reason my family decided to choose a game against the Nuggets in 2006 for the 76ers game we went to that year. Not Melo, but Earl Boykins. (Also, we went to a Cavs game in 2007 because my mom liked Anderson Varejao, not because of LeBron. Though the other games were pretty normal (Kings because of the entire 2005 starting lineup (though Peja was hurt and Webber had been traded, we still got to see Webber, just in his first game as a 76er), Suns because of Nash, Amar'e, and Shaq, Mavs because of Dirk, Raptors because my dad's a Raptors fan, Blazers because my brother's a Blazers fan))
One thing I have noticed the most about little guys in the league is dont bet on yourself on a big contract. Especially if you're over 27 or 28. Like you said the league isn't forgiving
The first time I heard of Boykins was when he was at eastern Michigan and beat Duke in the NCAA tournament Great player in college and a good role player in the nba
You should do one about Paul Millsap. even though he retired literally two seasons ago he already has been forgotten for most of casuals. A case could be made for Al Jefferson as well, one of the best players evers to not be an All-Star
I once was told by Spencer Haywood's brother that the NBA had a "little man's quota", which is why you don't see any players of average height. Isiah Thomas, Earl Boykins and Spud Webb proved them all wrong.
I definitely remember him playing,,out of all the tiny guards I believe he was one of the most prolific scorers,, for certain. I'm about to play his highlights now,,,he was the shit !!!!!!!👍👍👍👍. He made AI look tall
@@ArmyLT09 I'm 43... why would I have to Google some dumb shit like that.....I'm a sports fan since birth..... any fan could say exactly what I said from memory....you just wanted your guy high lighted.... that just wasn't the line to use tho.... 😂

Agreed! imagine if those small dudes were average size. Just a wild thought. I was 4 inches taller than him by the 8th Grade.

Nate Robinson
He's a great because he is shorter, and better than most taller players.

I love Earl Boykins, so I fully respect him as a man. It’s hard to be a short man in this wicked world. He was a bad man.🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
Yeah, short men have it hard.
They really do
One of my favorites!!!🔥🔥
Earl Boykins was fast as hell on NBA live. He was instant offense off the bench

I definitely never forgot Earl!!!!!! For someone 5'5.... He was a BEAST! He was not afraid of shit!!!
I still remember Boykins dropping record overtime points to win the game. Dude was legit as it gets.

He was also very strong. He was able to bench more than guys almost a foot taller than him
Just discovered your channel...thank you so much for what you're doing
Boykins was super strong for his size.

He was nice on the court.

Does anybody remember his Nike commercial? It was dope as they compared him to a poisonous blue frog.
Earl Boykins was definitely that dude straight
Thank you 😊
I watch a lot of NBA content on RUclips, but the thumbnails on this channel always make me click! 👌 🖼️ 🏆
At one point Boykins was one of my favorite players in the league.
And he can dunk too . Right on for giving that man his shine
Is there an Earl Boykins dunk on this video?
I always wondered what happened to Earl Boykins. Thanks for this video.
Earl use to get buckets even on 2k
There’s been a Dallas Mavericks Van Exel sighting.
PLEASE do Nate Robinson!
P4P he was super strong
It is absolutly unbelivable that he stayed in the NBA so long. He was so freaking small !!!
Please do Shane Battier next. One of the only players ever to win an nba and national championship
That list isn't short......he's not that special
@@cuttycut2324 says the guy that had to google it.
