all longarms have the same problem .The odds are 10 to 1 that you wont HAVE one when you need a gun. WEAR your loaded pistol around your home, business, etc. inside your home, wear it OPENLY, saving you 1/2 second (on average) vs a concealed draw. That half second lets you hit the man twice more, or hit his buddy, too, or pull a head shot if necessary. It also buys you time to think/decide if you MUST shoot. and open wear removes the risk of getting tangled up in your concealing garment, getting a bad grip on the pistol, etc.
Just the sight of your gun (pointed at them) normally makes them flee. It's a LOT more likely that you wont HAVE a longarm than your pistol wont be 'enough gun". Misses and warning shots have changed MANY minds and so have poor hits (even with feeble calibers). getting shot means death from infection or prison after you go to the hospital. Everyone knows this. It's actually QUITE rare to have to 'shoot him into the ground" with multiple chest hits with 9mm jhps, much less need to hit him with a 12ga or 223 softpoint.
I do NOT agree with open carry in public, or in your business and not even where your neighbors can see your (holstered) pistol. That stuff causes problems that you dont need. When you go someplace where people might see your pistol, conceal it. You dont want to alarm the innocent, OR lose the element of surprise vs the pos's who might want to attack you.
