- A set of traffic lights malfunctioning on Fredericksburg Road over Loop 410 for more than an hour during the morning rush. Both red and green lights illuminated at the same time on this set of three lights.
If 2020 was a stoplight
Very underrated comment, I completely got the pun in that. XD
just had this happen this evening on one of my local streets. initially my brain saw that it was green and I approached the intersection normally, then as I got closer the red light suddenly registered. luckily there was still time for me to slow down safely and cautiously proceed through. after that I pulled over in a parking lot and called the local traffic engineering office.
"i saw both, but my mind said it's green"

I noticed a lot of people were going through without even noticing. I think if you notice the green first, its easy for our brains to focus on that and filter out the remaining information.
When this happens treat it like there's a blinking red light/normal stop sign and stop. Wait for a clearing then go. Most of all pull over and notify the Police. If you don't then your part of the problem
It just looks like the light stays red the whole time, so you can go if you get a green light and a green arrow just pretend the red isn’t there.
Image that go for 10 hours
Yeah bad load switch red position always on.
@@jasonscamman28 Yeah that had to have been what the problem was
I'd stop, take a picture of the fault, and then turn round and find another route.
I'd contact the people responsible for their maintainance, and inform them that their traffic lights are malunctioning.
If they desired, for a small admin fee of £50, I'd tell them the location and give them the photos.
Weird Traffic Signal like a Christmas Color in December. Green & Red On at a Same Time. Gotta treat as a 4 Way Stop.
Looks like going thru was the right call. Whatever relay or switching mechanism controls the red lights is stuck on, clearly the controller was requesting green lights only when both were on after analyzing the pattern for a bit. If you're in a pack of traffic, go with the flow, if you're the loan car, treat it like a flashing red, stop and go when clear.
In the event of a dual indication fault, you must *follow the most restrictive indication (red).*
"Should I stay or should I go"?
If the signal is off or broken or malfunctioning, it is automatically to be treated as a four way stop. If you just intentionally blow right through it without stopping, and get into an accident, you'll likely be held as liable for causing the accident
Modern controllers are supposed to go into default 4 way red flash mode!! But do they always do this,NO!!!!
@@dimitriberozny3729 actually they ALWAYS do. Red light staying on during a green or yellow is NOT a conflict - safe condition to go through.
Wow. and yes i would treat it as a stop sight.
Honestly it’s not wrong to go through a festive light display as long as you know that it is the actual color, like in this example a switch got stuck on and kept the red light on, but if you see it go greeen then it’s green
Bad Contractor or a bad load pack causing dual indications.
What the heck is one with those traffic lights
They say we have a question why does the tropics turn red and green
Love This..
of course you know that the main road will not slow down for this and then the other side will have to somehow crawl out carefully or at their own risk.
64,000 question is hanging, what was adjacent light status? Was it stuck too,?
For some reason, I think the red and green are just stuck on.
Well green arrows take precedence over red circles so I go turn.
Why did the conflict monitor not make it go on flash
There was no conflict. Red light on during green/yellow is NOT a conflict. Will not cause an accident if you go through
Green/yellow staying on at the wrong time IS a conflict - dangerous. Conflict monitor would trip. If monitor is set to detect dual indication it will trip (go to flash) when red stays on during green/ yellow.
IT LOOKS LIKE CRISTMAS
Are they fixed? What caused it to malfunction? I’m sure it is because it is too old and needs to be replaced.
What dating is like. To me.
Did they finally fix these traffic lights?
I would honestly just stop, get out of my vehicle, and begin directing traffic myself
Well you are just an idiot
Probably the weather proofing on the control box failed and let water drip into the control panel, shoring the circuit to the red light causing it to stay on.
You mean shorting
Lol 😂. What the heck kind of traffic signals are those?
Bad load switch.
I only know a little about traffic lights, but I'm assuming the load switch is after the conflict monitor? I feel like this literally shouldn't be able to happen, lol.
@@kingflippynips3102 The conflict monitor is after the load switch. It has to be in order to detect burned out red lights.
มันเสีย
If you don’t know what to do at this situation, you should not be driving. Our education system has failed us.
9 times out of 10, its a bad load switch
Something caused the load switch to fail. Probably a short in the field on the red circuit. Load switches are very reliable.
The traffic light just want to hug it was sick think about it it hangs up there all the time it’s hot down in Texas do you think maybe I just want to go inside in the air-conditioning and cool off no next time you run across a light that’s confused just give it a hug ha ha Ha
😂😂😂
Bad worker I guess
ylelD
Just keep painting those rainbow crosswalks...more important than fixing the basic needs
Mery crimas
The cop says stop bit you'll get slammed from behind
You stop at the stop line and if someone rear-ends you then it's their fault not yours and they can get the ticket. Not only are you supposed to stop at a glitching traffic signal, but the folks behind you are supposed to stop too and stop at a distance. That's cause your supposed to maintain a distance between the person in front of you. So if they slam into you cause you stopped like you were supposed to then it's on them.
