I literally just had this conversation in my head. Though, I had my windows open... so they probably could hear it. (My neighbor blasts shitty rap music all day, so I don't give a fuck what he thinks. I'll make him listen to Wolfkreig next)
My thoughts exactly. I prefer to listen to things I can understand. Not gibberish like most metal singers release from their mouths.... it was Tyr who restored my faith in metal.
There's a huge difference between the good screams of Metal bands like System of a Down or Miss May I and the growls of bands like Cannibal Corpse. I much prefer the former to the latter
Its interesting that you brought that up marshin, I dont remember Thor being a god of trees as well but i do recall that the nordic people thought thor favoured oak trees because during storms it was the oak trees that are always struck by lightning thus making oak trees sacred to them. And thor will always be boss!! haha :p its cool to see not everyone are jerks on forums haha, thanks for the posts! many hails brothers and sisters!!
Turisas Týr Alestorm Korpiklaani Ensiferum my favourite bands, I discovered Týr a few years ago and went to one of their concerts when they came to my town. It was in a small metal club but it was amazing, heri joensen's voice is just beautiful!

Thank you so much. *_* Sadly, I've only once read something as good as this below a Metal song. It was one of Orphaned Land ... but I'd never have thought to find this here. :-)
I'm a very proud Heathen! I believe in The Big Bang i believe in Evolution. I think freedom of religion is showing your faiths. I get made fun of at school, but i keep my faith. The way a real heathen does and should. Hail from TX!

@maxximusss The Faroe Islands are about 170 miles directly north of Scotland, but not part of it, its part of Denmark, but is autonomous. They speak Faroese on the Faroes! Which is very similar to Old Norse, since they were a little isolated. Don't worry about it, I had never even heard of the Faroes when I found these guys.
Your god was nailed to a cross, My god promised to eradicate Ice Giants from the lands and gave his eye for knowledge. Do you see any Ice Giants? No, But you do see knowledge.
God's son was nailed to a cross. God did nothing. That is, if you believe every book you read. Even if I'm not a follower of Odin, I will gladly shout 'Hail Odin!'
***** very kool, I have based my faire persona on Ragnar Lodbrok since 2008 I have many battle videos I have performed in and also some of our flaming axes at night videos on my channel you would enjoy.
Tyr always has such catchy lyrics. These are especially great. They put most native English speakers to shame with these songs. Fuck, I love this band.
I agree with you on that, as long as people learn about actual Norse things. There's a million different ways to get into things :P Hahaha I like the Mjolnir comment! XD
I've just Googled it, and the first few sites all stated that it meant "Scandinavian." I would guess that it was originally the same as "North," and was changed at a later date. There's also the possibility that it did originally mean "from Norway" and was generalized to all of Scandinavia at a later date as well.
I was reading through some comments on here about religion and I just had to add my 2 cents. I was raised Christian and then I grew up and realized I could choose which fairy tales to believe. Die hard Christians should really take a long, hard look at their own history. The Romans saw an opportunity to use religion to control the masses and here we are 2000 years later still believing (some of us) in all the same BS. You do all realize that every single Christian holy day is a bastardization of a pagan ritual, right? Jesus was 'miracuously" born during Yule, the period of time around the winter solstice celebrating the rebirth of the sun. Or was it just a convenient way to get more people to convert? Then, Jesus goes and dies and is "resurrected" in the spring around the Vernal Equinox when pagans celebrated the resurrection of life in general after a long, difficult winter. How about All Saints Day? Or, as ancient peoples referred to it, Samhain, the time of harvest and the onset of winter. Don't you see it's all been a mirage to obtain, and maintain, power? How else do you keep millions, and now billions, of people in check? Tap into their deepest, darkest fears about life and death and promise them eternity if they behave. In all honesty, I don't care if you are Christian or Jewish or Hindu or Islamic. Believe what you want. That is one right everyone should have. Just never, ever tell me what I should, or shouldn't believe, and we'll all live happily ever after.
i like skyrim and im not here because of skyrim, im here to enjoy one of my favourite bands and one of my favourite songs from them... long live tyr and to Vakhalla at the end..
@heathenhammers Völuspá translates "The prophecy of Völvu". So that explains it pretty much by it's self that Ragnarök is a prophecy not a fate. Not everyone will die in Ragnarök. As you probably know. Maybe the quality of the warrior will matter in order to safe those who will be left alive when Ragnarök is over. Interesting question though.
I have just dicovered this wounderful band as a North American Asatruar this song realy touches home I love it what album is this track on?? I am buying them all I haven't heard one song I don't like!
I've been listening to this album for five years and only just noticed like ten minutes ago that the main riff for the chorus is straight up from The Beginning and I'm questioning a lot of things in my life now.
I'm American and I was always attracted to non-american metal long before Skyrim came out. Sure not all metal bands I listen to sing in English (ex. Rammstein and Tanzwut), but I'm more attracted to the melody that American metal can hardly imitate.
The actual definition of faith is "Complete trust or confidence in someone or something" so I am pretty sure that scientists to operate on terms such as faith...just because most of the time the word faith is used to refer to religion doesn't mean that is its only (or even main) definition.
+ZombieFruitsGaming not quite true, but you're on the right track. Hate to break in with a correction on a technicality but the ones who went to Freyja's hall were chosen by Freyja from the slain in Valhalla
I'm actually pretty surprised how so many people who have viewed this (metal with sophisticated lyrics about Norse mythology) have not played Skyrim or even heard of it!!!! :O I would have thought there would be more RPGers in this crowd.
Praise Odin that I found this band!!! Was it a coincidence? I think not!
This is band is hands down my new favorite band!
Many songs have been written about Valhalla, to me this is the Ultimate Song!
Nope, Blind Guardian is superior.
Aquila Hunter you got me there! your not wrong, well both are great songs from great bands, Guardian are excellent also!
+Aquila Hunter yes, is it.
What about Sleipnir by Manowar?
Taxtro thats also true...so many great songs about valhalla we are all spoiled for choice....\m/
These guys are awesome, keeping the old message alive and well. (And sounding kickass while doing it.)

me: turn it up

Unless Odin can hear it from Asgard, it's not loud enough.
This is a good song. ;)
dansktpjatt slowakeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
This band is proof that you don't have to have a vocalist who sounds like he gargled with battery acid to be metal.
My thoughts exactly. I prefer to listen to things I can understand. Not gibberish like most metal singers release from their mouths.... it was Tyr who restored my faith in metal.
That's the badassadry of viking folk metal

Scream Like You Mean It I completely agree!
The growls in cannibal corpse aren't too bad. What I can't stand is that slam deathcore "BREE BREE BREE BREE" shit.
Why is this not on spotify
Spotify prioritizes commercial garbage
It was a limited edition exclusive track
How much I missed this song! One of my favourites.
I realy like this words.
Tyr is a great band. One of the greatest i ever listen to.
I'm diggin the Tyr guys. Saw them on that Whale Wars show - freakin hillarious. These guys are the real deal. Bad ass.
I AM SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS BAND!
Odin's children are growing restless, how long can they keep the tide at bay?
The old gods are returning. So am i
Hail Odin! Hail Thor!
Hail brothers and sisters!
"Restless" is a bad synonym for "tired".
The gods be ever at our back!
These are some good lyrics.

I'll see y'all in Hel, cause y'all know damn well almost all of us ain't dying in battle.

Hel really isn't that bad of a place.
I pray I won't die an Invalid. I will make my ancestors proud

Hail from Chile!!!
I love the words for this song. When i die - Take me to Valhalla !!!
This has EXCELLENT lyrics.
The names of the Irish tunes in the song are "Fermoy Lasses" and "Spoil the dance" :)

The band, while Atheist, is a Viking Metal band. They sing about the sagas, the Gods, the Norse, and the history.
Haven't played Skyrim, im just expanding my metal library and Viking metal is fucking Brutal !,,!,
Det er et GODT BAND !!!!!
the real viking wish.........i like it!
so proud of my Scandinavian heritage!

well said thank you.
TÝR!!! awesome :)
My favorite song by far by TYR.
There is a definite highlands feel to the guitar and it works well.

Mine will drink with me in Valhalla
What say you?
May the glorious FSM have mercy on your soul.

It's from the Latin "pagus" (i think). Evola explains this in one of his books.
