Thank you so much. My bumper is finally factory flush for just $2. But I went about it a different way. . . Use a 1/4" hex bolt with 20 thread that is 3/4" long ( Lowes part #396435 ) You will need a 7/16 socket. Do NOT use a washer. It will come loose while driving. Instead of a "long speed nut" , use a 1/4-20 Serrated Flange Hex Lock Nut. Use blocks of woods to push your bumper up. This will naturally make your bumper push in to the bumper clip, creating a perfectly flush fit. Do this instead of pushing in your bumper with your knee or hand. Your hex bolt should face upward, with the serrated flange nut facing downward. Use a 7/16 hand wrench to hold the nut in place, and then use the socket & ratchet on the bolt. Screw these together SUPER tight. And then give it one last torque for good measure. Your stuff will sit factory flush for just $2 in parts.
@@juanmurillo9667 I know this is very old, but for anyone else coming across this video with the same question: I believe he's referring to the size of the bolt head when he says 3/8". Could be 3/8" drive, but it wouldn't be relevant to the context. The bolt should probably be about 1-1.5" long, and you're going to want to use one with a 10mm head, which would be an M6 bolt. Then the clip thing is called a "clip nut" or "u-clip", you can get sets of those for pretty cheap. Just find a size that works well for you.
With that car washing it whenever it gets dirty rain or shine helps prevent damage to the paint and finish. Specially a nice car like that keeping in tip top shape
I got my '13 brz from a dealership. It also has this bumper gap. Very annoying. Just makes my car look trashy and as if i got ripped off buying it. Hopefully this fix can help me out.
Quick question where did you buy 10 mm U extruded nuts ( or speednut as you mention in the comments.) I've been to both home Depot and lowes without success. They didn't have anything metric. Even when I search online is confusing and I'm not sure where or which one to buy.
Jorge Irving Sorondo they doth have a section for bolts and nuts for wood and metal and stuff. in that department they have an automotive section that has rivets and the plastic push pins that are all over the car
Yeah, that's where I went looking. Neither Homedepot nor Lowes had anything in metric. I found them at lowes but it was all imperial and the biggest one was 5/16-18 in.
autozone has what you need. Not as cheap as hardware stores, but exactly what we need for our cars. 3.99 for x 2 1.0 pitch clasps, 3bucks for 4x 10mm head 6mm x - 1.00 pitch.
I’m a little late, but I’m just looking to see if anyone can help. I’m wondering what size speed nut I need to get, and the screw to hold it in place? Thanks in advance
Thanks to ito08. You saved me $300 on some quick latches. I got my gap fixed for just $1. I went ahead and made a supplement to this video at ruclips.net/video/6kYhaer01_o/видео.html
How's the bumper gap holding up? I'm just not quite picturing how the clip with the 10mm bolt can keep the bumper from popping out from the fender near the headlight. Also, is there a name for this clip? Find it at Home Depot? Thanks!
sorry for the late response, the bumper is still in place no gap at all, go to home depot and look in the bolts and nuts section.. there should be an automotive section in that department and look for a "speed nut"
Hey man! I met you a few weeks back at the ECM meet. You should do a video on how you did your splitter haha. I'm still thinking of a design for a custom one for my car
This is such a long shot considering this video was made 4 yrs ago but what are those wheels? They look so good and the color is perf, I just have to know dude
@@1ito08 Hope you reply. I know Im late to this vdo but I recently had a new bumper replaced by a mechanic at collision center in pembroke pines. Now I have the same issues , what is the OEM parts that I need ?
Please consider the rip off effect that will ensue when you encounter a stressful situation such as hitting a curb or one of those parking space markers. The purpose of the clips is to release the large parts that are joint together without breaking them at the seams... I would not affix them with a screw and bolt.
8 years later and this is helping me now, insane. Thank you man!
The speed nut fix worked like a champ on the bumper gap. Thanks for this!
This makes perfect sense & so much cheaper than quick releases. Im so happy there is no cutting my bumper. HUGE thanks!
I love you dude, I've been looking everywhere to find a fucking fix for that, one point I was even willing to pay 300 to fix it, you saved me.
Glad it helped you out and saved you money... save the $290 for other car parts!

Can't thank you enough mate, was going insane trying to sort this out.

Your zip tie trick was fantastic for the corner lights!
Glad it helped! thanks for watching
U need an award for this fix my and I was about to purchase the 200 dollar quick release and i really didnt want to drill holes
Finally! Thank you so much man, this issue has been driving me fucking nuts for months. Simple and cheap, good job.
Worked beautifully!! 3/8 hex nut bolts on perfectly
Hey sorry quick ? Is 3/4 the length or width of the head? Im having trouble finding the size. Also what is the name of that clip thing?

I counted 42 "go aheads" in this video. 😲😲Thanks for the ideas. 😊
Good advice on this fix. The gap is annoying, bad design by Subaru/Toyota.

HOLY DAMN , so glad Ive seen this plan to use this on my frs bumper issue
I watched this like 3 years ago and never knew why i didnt do this
my guyy this actually worked! i appreciate the help a ton! 🔥
Trying to figure out which two parts are held together with the brackets. Is there a hole already ?
Nice solution ! But it works only when you have aftermarket sidemarker...the OEM one doesnt fit with the bolt when you replace them...
Mine fits fine with the OEM.
all I have to say is THANK YOU
Hey man. Sorry late question. I had all the side clips broken. Will this work with it?
I’m going to try this. Thank u
About to finally do this fix ! Thank you 💯
What's the name of the clip you used to hold the bumper?

Question on ur license plate. Does the us plate mount on the trd kit perfectly? Do the holes line up Or did you use a bracket ?
The TRD lip comes with a license plate bracket, it's part of the lip.. it lines up fine just have to take 2 small holes to mount the license plate
Thanks for this!
I couldn't find the 10mm speed nut so I bought 5/16-18 speed nut and bolt. Will this work?
Did the 5/16-18 end up working?
