Thank you so! Why there isn’t more clearly presented Latin piano music is a crime. I’m in my 2 year of Latin piano and despite mainstream music desire to sweep it under the rug -still we rise! More, more.
After a longtime paino note has made a proffessional sounding piano style...last time was when Jordan leibel leftoff with truly sounding authentic blues/boogie stuffs. These latin stuffs are not easily explained in most other youtube videos...because those videos talk about some irrelevent 2-3 or3-2clave...make things worse with clave rubbish. I would like to thank this new tutor whole heartedly for explaining the montuno tumbao stuff ,which he has done so nicely in the context of 4/4 meter and without talking a word about some irrelevent 2/3or 3:2 clave... I would expect many such fine videos in future from this new wonderful tutor
Awesome tutorial. As a subscriber to this channel and paid member of Pianote I appreciate that you have a team of teachers presenting these lessons because each brings their own unique musical background and areas of expertise. Thank you
Being what's known as an on2 Mambo dancer, I can appreciate the musicality being offered. It's refreshing to have someone break it down in laymen's term, contributing to crucial ear training and furthering ones knowledge of timing on the dance floor. Gracias Kevin👍and Pianote 💪.
Finally - exactly what I was looking for! Not having a latin-american background and not being a professional musician I didn't even know what to search for - didn't have any idea other than to google for "latin piano". Piano Montuno! Thanks a great deal for an extremely helpful video!
Hi first time I see you, will start practicing I can't read music yet so I depend on the way I see your fingers are placed and your instructions 😊. Thank you
Thank you so, so much for this lesson! One of the reasons why I started playing piano is because of this addictive salsa rhythm! I used to dance salsa and this kind of rhythm is something that keeps my body moving instantly. Can't get enough of it!
Classically trained and enjoying pianote's help to have fun with other genres of music. Thanks so much! Loosened me up..I hug my scores wayyyy too much!!
For classically trained, I think it's easier to play two hands together than the LH tumbao alone. The RH crotchets and quavers give you a nice meter on when to come in. Far easier than the same problem in Schubert Impromptus!
I absolutely love this video and the last video by Kevin (the one where he turned one song into multiple styles). Please make more videos like this! Can't wait to learn typical progressions and rhythm patterns of jazz and other music genres! Thank you so much Pianote!
THANK YOU!! You have massively helped me get a Latin jazz piano rhythm out of my head that I've been hearing for this song I'm working on. Such relief.
Killer lesson I loved it! And you’re right, playing the same thing hands together isn’t that bad-you taught and presented it perfectly . It’s the different bass part in the left hand and the right hand melody that gets difficult and takes some serious practice 😯. Thanks for the great lesson! 🎹🎶🔥
Thanks so much for the lesson Kevin. I don't know how to play piano or keyboards so this is the first challenge for me to try mainly because I really like the music. I've been practicing for a few days and I've learned the first part melody with the right hand. Thanks again.
I love it,, I'll let you know I'm doing as time goes by your class seems so easy and I love the kennel it's about the only instrument I haven't mastered I'm a salsa player and I restarted with the drums I want to master every drum because I am really good at it and people hug when I play I mean people happy and it also makes me happy thank you for being so kind to show and put your time to show up a very very good thank you very much and God bless take care of everybody you're very important.
Good breakdoen thanks im a gutarist and i have in the past gone iinto a aminor version of this at the end of playing G Gerswins Summertime as it goes down well in pubs but then again all good tunes usually do if handled well i shall look out for your vids ciao from Scotland
hi! the explanations and the progression are very good. I've caught the tip for playing two hands together. My first question is : i think it is for 2-3 clave, is it right ? then come the second question : what montuno for the 3-2 clave? are there other tutos for latin piano by Kevin Castro? and also for playing a real song. Thx!!
Great lesson! I'm playing the right hand with variations within a few hours. Synching up the Timbao will take more time. Do you happen to have the rhythm backing track or can you point us to it? Thank you!
And after you’ve reached that 100%, you’ll find out (via the looks you get) that the tempo fluctuates FAR more than you’d think. I’ve met exceptionally competent musicians who struggle to nail the beat with true salseros.
Get the sheet music and go deeper into the lesson >> www.pianote.com/blog/latin-piano-montuno-tutorial/
beautifully done...thank you again and again and again pianote!
😊

Wow, learned so much in such a short amount of time. Great lesson. Great teaching style. Cheers.
More of this, please!! As much as I appreciate learning Chopin and Debussy during my lessons, stuff like this keeps me motivated to keep playing!
Awesome video. Laid out plain and simple and easy to understand! All that is required is practice.

I love this thank you, a big fan of Dexter and they are always slipping some salsa in there, got to learn this :)
I was trying really hard to think of where I was hearing this genre and totally forgot about dexter!

Seems like 90% of the challenge is rhythm.

Please describe about difference between sound engineering vs music producer....which one I take to learn become a film music director
¡Me encanta! I love it.
Sería bueno ver más latín song in your app
