Very helpful! The Ring website should have a link to this video. I’ve ordered what advised and hoping to fit this week 💪🏼 Thank you for such a great video
I have no idea how this video has been viewed so many times and "Liked" so few. Maybe people watching multiple times, but I am so grateful for this bud. Easy to follow and my Ring Doorbell works like a dream
Hi Thanks for the video, Please tell me why when i was changing the transformer there was only 2 wires to the doorbell , you have too many ,where do i put my 2 wires in the transformer to get 24 v Thanks
Hello, I have watched your installation video for the ring wired. All really good and easy to follow. I am going to put on order the transformer I need. Thanks. However, when I originally put up the doorbell I didn’t have brown wires poking out the the old door bell… just blue and white. How do I resolve this?
Amazing video :Amazing video. Do you reckon I can make the same wiring possible for another video door bell which is non-Ring (like the Eufy door bell dual wired, that I got from the US? Thanks
Cant it work with the old deta box? I just got this doorbell and connected it up to the existing doorbell and it powers on, it just wont connect to the network, any ideas?
@@AhcMeUk man ive been going out of my mind since monday, it powers on but it wont connect to the network it goes through all the setup to that bit then nothing, just tried again and now its stuck in a boot loop, flashes twice then clicks sounds like its taking a picture, might just bin it and get a wireless one
I tried a regulated 12v dc supply with this bell first and had the same symptoms (powered up but would not connect the the app) The app stated it was a power supply problem. Tried a 12v a.c. supply (actually, I used the same d.c. supply, but connected to the transformer, effectively by-passing the rectifier) and the bell connected to the app first time. So in other words the bell seems to need an a.c. supply to connect. I have since found out this bell WILL work with a d.c. supply, but it needs to be 24v, not 12v.
Would this also make the chime work inside off new transmitter, as well as powering the ring off the mains? Our ring chime doesn't work through the deta doorbell at the moment.
I bought this transformer to fit my wired ring doorbell and it was fine for the first day. Now there’s an audible humming coming from it, is that normal?
All transformers make some noise, if it's too loud for you, then get a transformer that's from a well known brand, or buy the official ring transformer which is £20
I have an old multi voltage transformer with Earth, 4v and 8v to get 12v you wire the 4v & 8v together giving you the 12v. If your transformer works the same way you'd be putting 36v through your Ring doorbell.
I'm confused. I thought the point was I could wire up the ring doorbell to the existing doorbell wires and the ring would make the delta chime ring. No needing to pull chimes off walls or fit transformers etc..
Looks like I have the same deta set up as you....Just about to purchase the ring doorbell 4 and transformer. What's the chances of shoehorning that transformer into the existing Deta box? I've just decorated around it so it would look good if I had to remove the full thing

Thank you for this! Had the exact same setup and the Ring instructions were next to useless
Shouldn't they be connected to 0v and 24v connectors?
I opted for the 24VDC transformer as the ring box looks a lot smarter, thinner profile and pretty much the same size as the old Deta box
Hi
Thanks for the video,

Should doorbell cable goes to 12v and 24v , not in to 0v and 24v ?
I did 12 and 24 as can be seen in vid seems fine
@@AhcMeUk It should be wired neutral to 0 and live to 24v
@@AhcMeUk While it will work having 12V and 24V terminals, it is good practice to use 0V and 12V instead
Thanks for the tutorial - helped me do mine.
Wouldnt the old chime not work with this? i have the wired but looking for a chime to get it working

No the Deta is the wrong voltage. Deta is 220-240v 50hz DC and you need AC so a different transformer is needed.

Nope 13v as you can see in the ring app the voltage stats.
Didn't think I need to buy this transformer should of just bought the battery one haha
Anyone know if the chime volume can be changed on these Deta units? I cant see any knobs or anything in there. Its too loud it scares my cat 😂
Am I being daft... can't you just stick the transformer in the old casing?
Guess you could.
I'm confused. I thought the point was I could wire up the ring doorbell to the existing doorbell wires and the ring would make the delta chime ring. No needing to pull chimes off walls or fit transformers etc..
Nope different wires and voltage etc
any idea why my transformer is making a slight humming noise
I have the same problem the humming noise from the transformer
Needs a positive and negative 0v negative 12v or 24v positive

Did you fit the transformer into the Deta box? I am looking to do the same and don't want to remove it.
Same, any more info @md20120?
Hi my bell transformer reads 230 V 50/60 Hz
8V- 1A
12V- 0.66A
Is it ok if If buy ring doorbell with chime ?
I am based in UK
All the wires going to my original doorbell transformer are white :(
I have followed these instructions but my transformer has started making humming noises. Why is that? I am using the same transformer as you have.
Hi did you mange to sort the humming? As I'm having same issue could you help ?
