@lacdrs: how lovely! Not only was he beautiful, he made a whole lot of common sense! I was only 13 years old when this was recorded. Now, I’m 60 and would love to have this book! Best wishes!
I wrote a school report about the original Flash Gordon serial when it was first shown on UK TV in 1976 ...got an A+ ,which made my folks happy ...I still watch it once a year ,and it never gets old to me ...
Looking at this in 2024. They’re talking about movies made 40 years earlier, speaking of them as ancient history and talking about all the actors who were dead. That’s like us talking about Footloose or Ghostbusters today, which we do without those films being considered ancient. Hell, I remember 1984 like it was a few years ago! It was high school, my first car, my first CD player, and a month in the hospital after a horrific skiing accident…
George Lucas loved Flash Gordon staring Buster Crabbe first released in 1936. The idea of the Emperor and Jabba’s palace, including the trap door in the floor, comes straight out of that. So does Cloud City.
I met Buster as a 6 year old kid in 1960. Of course, he wasn't Buster Crabbe to me, he WAS Flash Gordon. It was at Starks Warehouse in Chicago on Harlem & Irving Ave. "Ming" was a phony stand--in whose mustache fell off while being introduced ! Another stand-in for Dale, and Prince Baron. No Dr. Zarkoff. I loved all 3 movies with Flash, watched each one 10 times.
Thanks for sharing this. He was my grandpa and it was great to see and hear him.
Lcdrs Pretty cool, I watch the Billy the Kid and Fuzzy almost every night of the year, including tonight! I love those movies!

You will see him again. 🌌
❤No doubt, you and your family are so proud.❤
Wow that's awesome
I'm still watching his cowboy shows now and I'm watching from Jamaica
Isn't it amazing, a blessing, how someone can be good-looking all of one's life?
Thanks for posting!

He was a swimming coach at The Concord, where I saw him.
Both called Max Baer Jr , who played Jethro, "Buddy Baer" - who was the brother of boxer Max Baer Sr and the uncle of Max Jr.
Was fun to watch in the 60s.

I love Flash which was a breakthrough.
The Flash Gordon serial started the whole genre of Star Trek and the like.
25 years later, we all know what happened.
