@@ClaesVaack-ce8vi Your statement regarding African Americans not caring about our ancestors is vastly unfair. I suspect most of the celebrities on this list have not had a DNA ancestry test but learned about their heritages from parents and other family members (whether accurate or not). Black Americans do not have the generational knowledge of what African country they descended from, much less the specific ethnic group they belong to within that country, so the whole continent is used. As far as the European ancestry of Black Americans, most of that is a result of the sexual use of females by owners and/or overseers who apparently did not feel the urge to discuss their family tree with women they felt were barely human and children they did not feel particularly paternalistic toward. Blacks whose mixture is/was due to a consensual relationship or marriage, most definitely know that ancestry.

Samuel L. Jackson has African American roots, but he also has African ancestry from a Bantu ethnic group called the Benga, who are native to Gabon. @@ClaesVaack-ce8vi Your statement regarding African Americans not caring about our ancestors is vastly unfair. I suspect most of the celebrities on this list have not had a DNA ancestry test but learned about their heritages from parents and other family members (whether accurate or not). Black Americans do not have the generational knowledge of what African country they descended from, much less the specific
ethnic group they belong to within that country, so the whole continent is used. As far as the European ancestry of Black Americans, most of that is a result of the sexual use of females by owners and/or overseers who apparently did not feel the urge to discuss their family tree
with women they felt were barely human and children they did not feel particularly paternalistic toward. Blacks whose mixture is/was due to a
consensual relationship or marriage, most definitely know that ancestry.
