Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl shot by the Taliban for advocating education for girls, marked her 16th birthday with an impressive speech at the United Nations, where she said education could change the world. Wearing a pink head scarf, Malala told UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and nearly 1,000 students from around the world attending a Youth Assembly at UN headquarters in New York that education was the only way to improve lives.

I'm all for education for other countries as long as we here in The U.S. do not have to pay for it. We need our money here for our children.

Is it really necessary to hold some old man's hand in order to make a statement in UN?

You're against talking to the Taliban and you're against military intervention??
    What are you for??
There is an international conversation going on about whether or not extreme violence against innocent civilians is part of true Islam. The West needs to be part of that conversation. We have an opinion in the matter.

Well, yes, it is scripted. She is indeed reading from a script, but... that's how speeches normally work. It doesn't mean she was handed a script by "leftists" and forced to read it. Given her obvious intelligence and remarkable self-assurance, I'd say that's a fairly unlikely scenario.

There is no amount of political tinkering in the way of reform which is going to improve our quality of life if we do not have the teachings of equality, serving, sharing, and giving unconditionally instilled in our lives.
