Ive been training hard for 9 months and my conditioning and strength went through the roof but my weight loss stagnanted. I kept trying to blame hormones imbalances or needing extra supplements. The light bulb moment was when i was looking at my workout stats after indoor rowing. When i stayed in "zone 2" for 45 min rows i would burn more fat and eat less but if i went for 20 min PRs hard rowing, i would burn more carbs and be ravenously hungry. Thanks for spreading this knowledge and making it simple to understand. 🤯🧠

@@ActionPlusEffort Unreal mate thanks for sharing. You can train hard in the weights room because that will increase your metabolic rate but hard cardio training makes you very hungry and doesn't increase BMR much at all.

@@PaulGreenAcademy Hi Paul. This might explain why after 17 years of Karate training (I still train most days) I can't lose the body fat! I'm not really overweight BUT I don't feel or look as good as I should. I'm 58. Went Keto 6 years ago and have maintained a 10KG weight loss but can't lose that stubborn 10%. I walk 20min every day. Hot yoga twice a week. I've cut out alcohol to pretty much zero. Do you think maybe doubling the walk time might help?

@@bodd66 Those on my programme weigh themselves and do 10000 steps daily. When weight loss doesn't change after a week I add 20 minutes of low intensity cardio (maintain 120/130bpm) to the end of weight lifting sessions, run this for a week and the weight loss continues 🥋 If weight still does not change I adjust the meal plan. Data drives decisions

For me, it's a matter of arithmetic. Eat less and do more. While keeping up the protein and hard training, add a bit of moderate cardio and limit the extra intake through the face hole. I know for serious bodybuilders, they talk about eschewing cardio and keeping a caloric surplus, but I suspect this must only apply to the top tier lifters. I've build muscle and lost fat simultaneously (I guess they call it "recomping"), and there's nothing mysterious about it.

I like the recomping approach for the gentlemen on their first 12 week block on the programme. There is pros and cons to it. Then maintenance kcals for strength block and surplus for the power and speed.
Then back to recomp/hypertrophy. Ticking all the boxes ✅

So if you have twins, that eat the same, weight train the same but one does 45 min Spin Class 7 times a week and the other does 45 min Stairmaster 7 times a week, the stairmaster should have lost more weight or more fat? Thanks.

Stair master and spin bike use glycolic energy systems. They do not burn fat they burn carbohydrates which make you more hungry.

Train the energy system that uses oxygen and fat as energy. Not the one that uses carbs

@@PaulGreenAcademy but isn’t weight loss all about calories in vs calories out. If a person burning more calories over the month than the other person surely that person would have lost more weight.
