    For me, it's a matter of arithmetic. Eat less and do more. While keeping up the protein and hard training, add a bit of moderate cardio and limit the extra intake through the face hole. I know for serious bodybuilders, they talk about eschewing cardio and keeping a caloric surplus, but I suspect this must only apply to the top tier lifters. I've build muscle and lost fat simultaneously (I guess they call it "recomping"), and there's nothing mysterious about it.

    • @PaulGreenAcademy
      @PaulGreenAcademy Месяц назад

      I like the recomping approach for the gentlemen on their first 12 week block on the programme. There is pros and cons to it. Then maintenance kcals for strength block and surplus for the power and speed. Then back to recomp/hypertrophy. Ticking all the boxes ✅

    Hi Paul, Just discovered this. Great advice. The best advice is often simple and no-nonsense. I'm an old man who lifted on and off for much of my life. But it wasn't until my late 50s that I finally stumbled on the keys that worked for me - and they're actually pretty much the exact things you mentioned: 1. Intensity. On the final (or possibly only post warmup) set, go as close to muscular failure as is safe for the movement. 2. Full range of motion with smooth negatives. eg: Those bogus bouncy calf raises I did for years were a complete waste of my time. 3. Find the movements that best target the weak points. You don't have to stick to only compound movements if they don't fatigue the weak points first. 4. Well, there isn't really a number 4, but a bit of editorial: People who say 50s and 60s are too old to build new muscle are full of shite. 5. (just added): Keep a training log! Being a fool, I didn't start doing this until I was 56 years old! ("Yeah, yeah, I know my routines. No need to write it down." - Bollocks!) My structure and genetics are below average, and I'm an old fart. But _intensity_ is the closest thing to a silver bullet I've ever found. And no lie, I have more muscle, better shape, and less fat than when I was in my 30s. (As they say, I wish I knew then what I know now...) If I can get results, then absolutely anyone can. (One caveat: it is not always psychologically easy to push yourself to true muscular failure.) PS: For this Yank with bad ears - Am I hearing perhaps a Sheffield accent or... maybe even Newcastle? I know, I'm probably way off!

      @@PaulGreenAcademy Carnivore is a very low carb/high protein variant of keto, where you eat animal based food. Because of the higher protein you lose no muscle mass. The academic institutions are captured by big food and vege activists, who don't objectively study it because it's against their ethos and interest (notice how cow farts are suddenly a threat to the environment, yet petro-chemicals get a pass) Paleo is actually a "Neolithic whole foods diet", because the majority of the food recommended didn't exist hundreds of years ago. I followed this approach several decades ago, but as you read what was actually eaten during the paleolithic, you find little commonality on what was eaten back then (plant matter was very fibrous/hard to digest and was subsistence food while they couldn't catch game). Fruit etc were only available seasonally, unless you lived in a tropical jungle. Hominids evolved on the Savanna and ranged/adapted to many different environments. I also research diet stuff in-depth and am settled on carnivore. 11 months now and never going back. There are some problem areas with "balanced meals" like some of the food groups mentioned in the paleo diet - nuts and seeds contain phytic acid which prevents the absorption of certain minerals like zinc, iron and calcium when eaten at the same time with foods containing those minerals. The need for fiber has also become a highly debated topic. Many health professionals and scientists are saying it is completely non-essential to humans and can actually cause problems and disease. My n=1 experience of not touching a gram of fibre (or fruit/veggies) in 11 months is my digestion is way better and no problems whatsoever with bowel movements. Check what this phd doc has to say on fibre : ruclips.net/video/dGCpzR_e9n4/видео.html

I supplement with pasta if I need it for a hard cardio day. Protein shakes unfortunately falls in the 90% i dont eat anymore. Great video

Another thing I do is listening to rife frequency for testosterone and DNA. Beer is another prohibitor. Eat clean, live clean and eat real food. The governments want weak men. lets be warriors, and beast in all we do.

      Have a few weeks off pull ups and press ups, focus on exercises that specially strengthen the muscles around the elbow. I used to like narrow grip press ups as a means of checking if my pain was getting better.

    The CC is WAY OFF. I am 5'10 and 270 lbs and it says to maintain that weight I would be needing to eat almost 3000k. calories . I'm eating nowhere near that . I was eating steady at 2200 k and not seeing results. In fact, I had to reduce my calories to 1200 k to see weight loss start again. It took me 7 months to lose 20 lbs.
