I appreciate how you delved into the challenges Apple faced in creating a spatial computing interface and the foundations of Vision OS. Keep it up Dan!
We NEED that video, Daniel!
Super helpful. Thanks for sharing!
Give us the hot takes! 🔥 Also this video was very entertaining, good job! 😂
Great video, great teaching skills!
This is the first RUclips channel that I’ve found that is talking about this stuff… Subscribed!
Yayyyyy!
Your video was so entertaining, it made me log in (on this work computer), authenticate with two factor, and subscribe. And then tell you this information.
Awww thanks! Means the world to me!
Great intro! Please keep going with Vision Pro UX content.
That's the plan!
Yes, will love to know how to create 3d designs
Will upload!
I went through 2 Vision Pro’s, exchanged one for a bad Lidar cameras and the second didn’t track either of my hands. I just ended up returning it due to not being able to control it. The video you put out about it being great until it’s not, is spot on. Not to talk shit I’m a X Apple employee, & love the company but being heavily tattooed head to toe and from having to use rubber clear furniture feet on my Apple Watch to have it work, & now the work around for the Vision Pro is wearing gloves.. which I didn’t even bother trying. I’m not spending 5k to wear gloves lol. Where is the inclusion and diversity for us tattoo folk @apple ? More love for us tattoo folks as we love tech as much if not more than the naked humans. I get older and tech gets better I realize being blasted we just don’t get features that work due to layers of ink some one gotta to figure out a fix other then mittens lol
Lmao I'm so greedy for XR content 😂 I broke my neck getting here.
Excellent vid - value packed (..how do you even think of these insights as in reading between the lines of what a company is doing, catching language games like renaming AR/VR - so astute!)
I will say I'm confused .. or maybe frustrated is the better word by the hush hush instruction from Apple and the high barrier to entry Apple and Unity decided to do (cost). I created projects I want for VisionOS but even with the guidelines they share, I'll need a lot of hands on tinkering to truly get it.
Also this is a huge yes to pig melons and designing 3D content for the human body.
The hush hush has always been Apples MO when it comes to guidance. Its a decent line between hyper controlling and being too free.
Great Job Dan, as always great delivary but this time I really feel overwhelmed with information and high pace of the video. So much content in just 8 minute (great inspiration to dig deeper) . Feels like I'm gonna boost the number of views to get as much as posibble from every section ;) Please, give us all your takes about this BIG words: Ergonomics, FOV, 3D creation for user with HMD, all of it. See you in the next one!
Haha sorry bud! Feel free to hit me up on discord and we can go deeper!
Ooh this is good. Like maybe a series where you dive a little deeper onto these topics? (e.g., 10 min videos on each of these topics)
@@marqusee Great to know! Give me some time to dig with more research and I for sure hit you up with questions!
Thanks for the video … you offered some great insights 6:58
Glad it was helpful!
I’d like to learn more about how to design 3D content for the human body.
Hi, Daniel, love your content. I want you to make more content on 3D design.
Working on it!
My hot take on this has been any new advance starts off by emulating the thing it is replacing and that is what we are seeing here from Apple. It's like the Horseless Carriage phase of Spatial Computing. 90% 2D windows floating in 6DOF 3D space.
More PigMellons please !!!
Yes we want a long videos, Pigmaleons
Literally. 😂 PIG MELON!!
6:15. Again, yes, please.
Bring it on..... Puuuleeeezzzz
1:20. Yes, please.
I am surprised that Apple has not shown off any widgets. I feel like widgets could do a lot of heavy lifting on this new platform.
Does Vision Pro have widgets!?
@@marqusee I don’t think so but I hope I’m wrong
@@marqusee btw I got mine on launch day. No widgets.
2:56 😂the shadows bouncing off your chin are pretty weird and funny … its like the shadows are glitching into you
We want hot takes! We want hot takes!! 😂
Haha i should shit something out.
Out of nowhere? They literally said 7 months ago that it wilp be available early 2024....February 2 IS early 2024 😂
Haha there wasn’t any event, announcement video or anything. They basically relied on 3rd party news outlets to announce their product.
@@marquseeyou liked your own reply
@@marquseeI totally agree. This has been the weirdest Apple launch I've experienced!
He implies that the release date came unexpectedly. It appears that the Vision Pro release is not as significant as the iPhone. Perhaps they launched it quietly due to incomplete apps and user experience, minimizing potential backlash from the press and customers.
Huh? The Vision Pro launch and event was at WWDC23.
👏👏👏👏👏
I think Stage Manager is the closest thing to the Vision Pro OS on an iPad or Mac. It feels like a training ground for those who want to familiarize themselves with the interface…
🤔
6:18 yes i want to learn to design 3D content for human body please!
I wish for a figma like software (for interaction and other) to design into the Vision Pro , any software can do that ? For me, as a product designer, need to design into the hardware. When I design a mobile first design I use figma mirror to see it all the time , love to do micro interactions to have a better view of the UX and UI . Wish to have something similar in Vision Pro
Nothing yet, working on it !
Thank you for making me feel old for understanding the Pee Wee's Playhouse 'secret word of the day.'
My biggest question is if any window can be placed on the ceiling. I.e. your connected productivity macbook windows/email etc and all of that work could be interacted with lying on your back
The new walk through video shows the photos app can be placed on the ceiling, what about everything else
Yes, as far as I’m aware they can be.
There is no set grid restrictions for the most part with windows
There is no set grid restrictions , for the most part, with windows
As far as we know is this the first user interface of its kind that supports full support for the ceiling mounted apps/windows ?
I hope they eventually allow “widgets” to hang out in AR space independently from the space being used.
Agreed
Maybe they do..
🤷♂️
Unleash the Pigmellons. 🏴☠️
I’m waiting until it launches. Want to make sure I free and clear to let loose.
Some developers are going to create some“Basic Bitch Shit”
Has me dead 💀 😂
:)
😂 me waiting to try and load windows on this thing
6dof controllers are definitely 100% not supported by visionOS in either the shared space or full space.
Controller support on the platform is limted to regular Bluetooth gamepads like the sony dualsense.
Other than this, the video is incredible and got me subscribed
Haha when I asked them if Bluetooth 6dof controllers would work when I met up with them, they begrudgingly said yes, technically, but why would you want to use them? but I guess that that is off the table.
I mean if you had self tracked controllers, I would imagine it could technically work right?
well they can sell dongle with track receiver and pair of VR controller
for another $1500
@@marqusee
Back in wwdc, in a Q&A session with Apple engineers, a few devs asked about the possibility to use 6dof controllers with visionOS apps but they explicitly replied that they are not supported.
6dof controllers need more than a Bluetooth connection to work, they need to he tracked with the sensors of the headset and currently there are no APIs for controllers other than regular gamepads.
And yes technically self tracked controllers would be the easiest to implement but they wouldn't work because visionOS isn't designed to receive the positional data coming from and how to do them (even the quest 2 had to receive an update before it could support the pro controllers)
However not all hope is lost, one ex apple engineer who worked on Apple arcade for the vision pro said that he pushed his colleagues to support 6dof controllers and even tho he lost that battle he said Apple is listening to game developers freedback and there's a possibility that they might offer official support for 6dof controllers in visionOS.
Make more videos bruv
Working on it :)
@@marqusee thank you friend. I want to become a spatial designer but don’t see a clear career path to it. Can you maybe do a video on some of the opportunities out there to get started in the industry? Or something like that.
$3500 for a beta testers. The issue isn’t the Vision Pro the issue is Apple 🍎. How sad will people feel in summer when the new lighter apple Vision Pro 2 with a m4 pro chip and 32gb of ram for the same $3500. Apple can and will do this and they done it just in 2023 if people forgot.
Update their hardware? How dare they! 😂
Underwhelming...
Haha
Nice vid! Cheers from LinkedIn
Love ya !
