My mother who is now 85 used to talk about this visit of Madam Chiang Kai Shek to Ottawa in relation to the then thriving community of Chinese citizens who largely resided along Sparks St. just a block down from Parliament Hill in what was then Chinatown.

This is Beautiful. Taiwan is the TRUE CHINA..it behold and maintains the True Culture of the Chinese people, which the Communist Chinese govt. Has subdued, or altogether tried to erase from history. Thank God for Taiwan. The United States (when it still has fortitude and honor), helped Taiwan become strong and maintained a close friendship with this free Nation

She was indeed great and help for her husband's political career. It's just that they were kicked out of China by the communists. At least Taiwan had provided them a safe refuge to live and continued to lead the refugees and Taiwanese to become a country in their own political dream even if they lost China.

The date on the cheque appears to be June 9th and 1943 was the year as evidenced through this link from Amazon to a paperback published in 1948 which documented the full trip to both Canada and the States.

She was educated and great help for CKS and KMT. It's just sad that they were kicked out of China by the communists.
