I have watched sailing videos for at least 5 years and now I'm not that bothered, however you guys always leave me feeling good , you are very honest and informative, looking forward to the cat videos , i sail my self I'm in the med , Ill buy you a beer when we cross path's x
You would have been slammed by fans at the Annapolis boat show. How fun that you are recognized out sailing. Franny and I are car people and we have a lot smaller channel then you both and we even had a couple fun folks say hello at the boat show (car people as well) that we ran into. I wish you could have been there. We would have loved to meet you two. Hopefully next year. Heidi
So glad you're back .. I missed you both and Ruby Rose .. Glad you took care to care for the young late afternoon hikers as boaters generally do care for one another. Glad you got the anchor problem TURNED AROUND ha ha.. good advice 👍.. Can't wait to sail again with you sooner than later I hope ❤
Ahhh six series and tens of thousands of miles sailing only to arrive at the quintessential Aussie beach and be identified as " those youtube fuc-krs, ha got to love Australia for levelling out the competition. Lovely video, oh and Nick, like the song, you got to know when to fold'em. Cheers Peter
Growing up on our boat, the anchor was never let down until we could see that we were travelling astern. So, my grandfather taught my father (born 1925) who taught that to me and 2 brothers. No swivels, no roll bars, etc. Extremely rare that we dragged anchor. Reversing is for laying the anchor, not just setting it.
Yes, we're both saying the same thing...only differently! Nick explained WHY it's doing what it is, that's the Mars/Venus thing. Ha! Looking forward to RR2's adventures.
The late hike brought back memories from long ago of a similarly late hike I had on Pedra da Gavea in Rio de Janeiro. We had to descend through the jungle in darkness (just after 6 PM) with only fireflies as guiding lights, on narrow paths with steep drop offs. That certainly taught me a lesson or two about hiking.
Meet the Fockers... Nick does look a bit like De Niro...LOL. The snapshot of society in an anchorage always surprises me... From a 3 storied super yacht with vinyl slide, to undies hanging on the rail... There's always someone to say G'day to... Love the Whitsundays...
As a fan of "those RUclips F**ks" let me say that if we cross paths, I owe you both a beer and a feed for all the information you have given me particularly with your catamaran review series. Slick, professional presentation, methodical and reasonably objective. Thank you guys. Not all Australians like to cut down tall poppies, but it does seem to be a national sport.
When we were at sea fishing for months we had a wash bag made out of heavy gauge fishing net we'd put our clothes in and drag the bag behind the boat. It does a great job of washing clothes . Just make sure you take the time to secure it to a good rope. One poor fella got in a hurry and lost most of his clothes. He ended up wearing clothes everyone donated and he took a lot of ribbing about looking like a bag lady in all the weird outfits he had to wear until we made port and he could buy new clothes. Stay safe ,happy trails.
Nick, one piece of advice. You never loosten your anchor going forward. Go around to the opposite direction and stern it out. Just to save you a nose dive and replacing your chain rollers. I've seen it before.
lol@thoseyoutubepeople. I just say those boat reviewers, and sailors, with the coolest Theme song of ANY sailing vlogs on youtube lol. I've been a fan for 4 or 5 years now.
Great video. You were SO lucky! Probably the same charter boat crew, aged in their 60s and 70s took off all their clothes on sunset next to us when we were there. Sunset ruined lol😎🌴⚓⛵😫
Nice video guys, one day one day I keep saying but it never comes unfortunately, lovely place our Australia, with the anchor I'm surprised the charter company wouldn't have a virtually fool proof anchor that even a beginner could set, I'm enjoying your time in Aus and I hope you are to, safe journeys and all the very best, Al
hahaha had to do the same thing at Cairn beach Good Tides in the whitsundays :) reading your charts is a no brainer but reading the tides is just inportant lol :)
We hired a cat in the Whitsunday's a few years ago to teach some friends to sail, and in Cid Harbor especially, had trouble holding, as did most of the charter boats, when the wind piped up to 25-30 l, there was plenty of action in the bay. We ended up put out every bit of chain and 2 anchors. We felt most of the charter fleet was inadequately set up for conditions which are common in the area.
I’ve been absent for a while, but I hope y’all are doing well. I trust you’re getting along in the catamaran ok? Take care and I’ll say a prayer for you guys.
I think y'all handled the anchor thing quiet well, both of you. ;) It just seems to be so many obstacles to sailing. So is something that you really have to love doing. Great vid guys.
If you ever get to Petersburg Alaska you might like the climb up Petersburg Mtn. ( It's on Mitkoff Island across the Narrows from the town of Petersburg), It takes about 4 hours up and 2 hours to climb back down.
You RUclips ******s do a brilliant job of video production. When we were wrestling through Whitsunday passage we heard a terrible distress call. A person in a young group had fallen from a cliff on one of the islands. She was unconscious with a head injury and the helicopter was over 30 minutes away. We would have taken longer to get there and felt hopeless that we couldn't render assistance. It's a playground out there, but the cops and ambos aren't 5 minutes away.
You add extra interest to the normal routine of moving and anchoring, by describing whats going on around you in detail, Also by doing this you are making sure YOU are safe because your being extra observant. You are both well suited to multitasking. Can BOTH of you sail on your own if you had to. Have you both done Man overboard? Was it successful? Be honest to us and yourselves. Then do it in Rougher water, its very different. Never take your eye off the person in the water! But I am probably understimating your capabilities. Good luck to you all.. just be safe.
Thanks for your great videos! Doesn't seem like much swimming or water activities going on etc. Are there just too many sharks in the Whitsunday's for swimming?
Really helpful insight on the anchoring. 'No forward movement.' I figure this bit of information will save me more than a few anchor drags and many many resets. Thanks Ruby Roses! Then again maybe that's just a northern hemisphere anchor.
Argh, again... too short!!! I was just getting into the episode when you started signing off!!! You need to run around with a V8 engine block attached to that anchor Nick! would more rode when setting help do you think? I'm glad you're finally getting some better weather! Enjoy!
Hey, for all us non-aussies how about a little history lesson on where the name Whitsunday came from. Yeah, I know I could google it but it is more fun when an Aussie explains Aussiness.
Not an Aussie, but they were discovered by, probably Cook, on Whitsunday. Which is some Sunday on the Church Calendar. So it's not so much Aussieness as Exploriness.
Your both beautiful ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️ And very helpful with your knowledge of living real boat life Thank you both 🙏 For sharing Kindest wishes forever ☀️🌟⛵️☀️🌟🌎
One thing that's a bankable as the Sun coming up each morning is the ongoing antics of charter crews in the Whitsunday Islands. Get a few stories off the Operators ha ha they'll have hundreds 🍺🍺🍺🍺
Ah, yes my husband I just explained that to you. And then, my husband says, “I talked to Bill and he said try this”. I see, you now have confirmation that my original idea works. 🤯
Hi old okie here from south central Oklahoma. I am very excited to see your new catamaran it is going to be like livining in a mansion compared to your mono hull or even the lease catatamaran that ya'll are sailing now. Please make a mention of approximately when your new boat will be ready on your next video.
Love your videos. You are a great couple. Just like my wife and I. She says something and 24 hrs later I Have the same conclusion and claim it for myself.
I really like how your personalities compliment each other. Relationships are complex and sometimes difficult and I cant imagine doing that on a floating pontoon. But, you are gracious to each other and Terysa is forgiving of Nicks mansplaining (even if its in his head :-) And I enjoy watching the both of you navigate love, life and sailing. I know we see the good parts and I am fine with that but I commend you on what looks to be an amazing friendship and love. As always thank you both for sharing.
Love your vids. Thanks so much. Nick, you stated distance in miles? Seeing as both the UK and Aust. are metric i found this interesting. In Cdn, we are now metric officially. But i started school in Imperial. Which results in proficient in neights, skillful in buggering either up.
Hey Nick, grab the drill out of the bin and put a couple of holes in the aft end of the fluke (is it called a fluke on a Delta?) and add to it a make-shift roll bar. That's a huge pain in the ass not to have the anchor roll upright and bite right away! Terysa is correct, the Mantus would be way better. Great scenery though!
I love Terysa's "you have confirmation that I was correct" 😂
The Whitsundays are more beautiful when the sun shines.
"Thin ice" 😎
@@SYSirius maybe 😀
clicked like and started watching.
Not surprised you guys would be intuitive enough to keep an eye out for those lost sailors. You're good peoples.
Thankyou Jennifer.

I haven't watched you guys in awhile and it was good to see that you're both doing well. Cheers.
Good episode with great scenery and lovely colours and sky shots at the end of the day. Thank You

We really liked this one! Thanks for sharing!

Very proper and correct. I could not understand how they had come so far without learning this, after all its fundamental proceedure.
Really look forward to watching your videos every week!🥰🥰
Very generous of you to refer to those stranded folk as "sailors".😊
Looool
Lovely footage- warmed me up from the chilly UK- dreaming of being somewhere like you!
Peaceful video I am enjoying them all🇨🇦

Happens a lot 😉
Nic, the guy on the "party boat" is probably wearing swimmers. They're popularly known in Oz as Budgie Smugglers. 😉

Haha got it
Terysa is an Aussie. I'm sure she has her Speedo Spotters badge.
@@michaelreifenstein2114 Yep and I'm sure she already has Nick up to speed.

Interesting anchoring conversation backed up by previously filmed footage. Yes, you really did just say that😉.
Nah, she said that if it turns over it stays over, not that going forward makes it turn over.

We call those giant inflatable slides Shark Feeders. Sounds like that is literally the case in the Whitsundays!

Get a Bruce anchor. Mine has always set and it will swivel and stay in the seabed on a turning tide.
