You handled this situation way better than I would've at 14. I was always worried about accidentally drawing a character that looked identical to someone else's, so ending up in someone's post about art theft? That would have been my worst nightmare. Great video! I'm shocked you dont have more subscribers.
Reminds me of my commission as an tween where a grown ass adult commissioned me to draw a chibi character kneeling down in a cute pastel outfit… farting out a green cloud Yeah I asked my then (still now) boyfriend, he laughed and instantly told me my commissioner had a fart fetish and bf was right on the money.
Subbed: This is one of the problems of doing fandom art, especially with OCs. Typically those OCs have relationships, or had relationships, with other OCs. So in the customer's eyes, the commission isn't just "Oh I want the world to see my OC and their friends and the cool stuff they do;" you're literally providing the narrative for their OCs story. And that can become a sticky situation very, very fast if that customer, and by proxy that OC, hasn't been the best person to others in the fandom. Sounds like you handled it the best you could have, especially for being 14! I still can't imagine being 14 and having some mafia-like conspiracy you feel the need to hide from your dad. He probably would've been like, "Uh no, you're not paying [Foxy] one red cent, they're being a bully."
Fellow artist here. Really felt this video, had very similar experiences when I was doing art in fandom. I know that feeling of "what if this very specific and random thing happens AGAIN" that you described. Thanks for making the video.

that foxy design is- ✨✨ Literally perfect! This video is a fun watch and I can't believe you don't have more subscribers considering the video's quality, I can't wait too see how you progress in your art + youtube journey!
Framing this all with muppets characters made it so much more hilarious than it probably should've been I understand the feeling of trying to do something nice and accidentally getting into situations with horrible people because of it, their words(and actions) haunting you every night when trying to sleep
When I was 9 I was on a smaller drawing forum that was very intimate, everyone knew everyone. I made some really good friends there, some of them I am still in contact with today 20 years later. a few of the people I befriended were in their late teens, but I just felt cool for having these older kids' support. But one of these older people I befriended suddenly decided that I had stolen her character because my character was a designer and so was her's. Her boyfriend contacted me and told me to change my character and threatened me to get me thrown off the forum for stealing. It was so traumatic lmao. Anyway, that guy ended up getting a spot at the same art college as me over a decade later. We were even in the same year. He didn't know I was the 9 year old he once harassed because of an OC's occupation. I never told him.
I’m absolutely in love with all the random characters used as stand ins- when Batman showed up, I started laughing out loud haH Great vid, I really enjoyed it
I now know to check the commissioner before hand cause you can never know how’d they turn up once you start working with them. Usually my worst commissioners are “Gonna commission you to draw this for my friend” Cause they get SUPER PICKY and demanding. Which means i have to banish them to the shadow realm after it’s all well and done. Here’s a couple of them: -I had a commissioner demanding me to livestream the progress of the commission. I was super nervous and told them it makes me uncomfortable but they didn’t listen -A commissioner told me to finish a commission under an hour due to a event happened on their end and started to curse at me -A commissioner threaten to take their money back if i wasn’t solely working on theirs… dude my dad had a car accident I was frazzled couldn’t focus on the computer 24/7. This was all for $15 btw -Creepy commissioners that sent me ‘I know you saw my message’ So here’s a pro tip to young commissioners out there. 1. If your client / commissioner is being a asshole to you. INSTANT refund them. Please don’t tolerate their ill behavior and keep your mental state at ease knowing you won’t be stressing out working for them 2. Make a ToS ( Term and services ) So when a client try to back you to a corner you can slap a ‘Did you read my ToS?’ If they said no which means they didn’t agree to it and you can’t get in trouble for it. 3. Your time is valuable! Not only charge them for your art but for your time as well. Cause damn art takes awhile to draw haha
When people commission for art do they usually know what the time limit it is to create it? I’m also curious what you put in a ToS for something like that 🤔 I’m and artist and I’m selling my own pieces but I want to commission as well… Do they usually pay before and then you make it? I get worried that the customer won’t like the outcome. I guess that’s probably why the commission has examples? But I think sometimes there isn’t always an example 🤔 Sorry for the paragraph but I’m curious! 😅
The internet is seriously something else 💀💀, in my own experiences thankfully I haven't experienced full-blown theft yet (knock on wood), however I did have some random throw-away account blatantly ask me if I would draw them pr0n.... I was 15 - 16 at the time, WITH MY AGE DISPLAYED IN MY BIO :) The only response I could muster was the reaction image of Jesus peeking around the corner saying "No."
@@SpArkyTheDerg Yeah I literally just checked my sub count for the lols and went “oh no oh fuck now i actually gotta resurrect this dead channel 😭” But fr, that is the plan, just gotta finish some stuff first. Oh my freaking god... you were just a 14 years old teenager when you experienced this. I had a similar problem with a couple of clients like a year ago, I was 21 back then and I was in a freaking mental breakdown while trying to deal with them; I dont wanna imagine the level of anxiety you had to go through. ;w; I'll say it, fuck that "Foxy" guy, what the heck do they think its gonna happen if they start yelling at anyone they find on the internet, that's just not okay. (Also, considering that the whole issue of "THAT'S A POSE FROM MY DRAWING, YOU NEED TO PAY ME" its pretty ridiculous, they definetely needed to chill a bit...) I'm really sorry you had to go through this crap when you were younger, MY GOD. ;w;
Plot Twist: Kermit is secretly Batman, and when he saw his own wife, Mrs. Piggy, telling Wowza to copy his own art, he felt mortified… (Also, no wonder why Kermit is so rich. He’s literally Batman)
I'm always terrified to post art while working on a commission simultaneously for that reason, even though I really have no reason to, especially if I'm taking on other commissions.
The way you animate is so cute and a good way to recognize the artist, my fav par was when lil raccoon started drawing, caught me off guard but it was so cute and cartoonish that I love it a lot, I will never forget it
As an artist myself I have had something similar to this happen to me when I was a younger as well. Unfortunately it does tend to happen a lot to those who are inexperienced simply because they know they are able to manipulate them far easier than those who have been around for some time. Still I'm glad you could make light of it in the video. Keep up the good work.

I was really invested in this video from start to finish. I completely understand going defense mode about something that happened in the past, and something you should just forget about. This is one of those experiences that will stick with you for such a long time. Btw incredible Ms Piggy/Kermit/Foxy ESPECIALLY Foxy looked so cool.
The screeching when you draw your own characters thing is something I can hard relate to, and why I hate doing commissions, because you don't know who might be that person who blows up your dms because you dared post a picture you made of characters doing something and not a picture of their oc as if you are required to do so. Those experiences are scary everytime.
I have done over 80 comms, but so far I haven't experienced something like this, although I have to admit, that it's a fear that lives in the back of my head
From one artist to another, you handled this pretty well. I personally don't do commissions, I just do passion projects (and occasionally sell said passion projects for extortion level prices)
OMG YES! I use poses from random art I find, as refs for my commissioners..as I have hard time explaining so I try to find what I want in images...sometimes I will find orginal character art on DA...and use that pose. No matter the pose, you cant copywrite it..
This is why I draw but don't consider my self part of the art community. Sure there's a lot of nice people but there's also alot of crazy ones that take simple shit way too seriously.
yeah it’s hard to find art friends and it sucks to tip toe about copyright… or when they find a “problem” in your art and blow it out of proportion. There’s also the art “critics” 😂 they have no problem telling you what is art and what isn’t…
I’m a young artist whose planning to open commissions soon as well, and I’ve been listening to these stories so I can theorize what I would do and what I should be prepared for once Im officially open. Luckily my older friend is an art person so they may be willing to point me in the right direction when things go south
Glad I haven't started doing commissions yet... now that I've listened to your story, I think I know what I'm about to dive in. I'm aware that it could turn out really bad, which actually let's me feel more prepared about it, so thank you!!
This was really fun to watch. I've got a lot of artists friends with their own commission horror stories. You seem like you handled yourself fairly well, all things considered.
Your story gave me flashbacks to my early years as an artist on DeviantArt (also at 14) but I didn't do commissions at the time, thankfully, because the drama was bad enough without it. Like god. I was lucky that I ended up in a semi-reasonable 'clique' of people who didn't go full crazy, but that didn't stop us from having a feud with some other group over some mystery reason - I'm almost certain nobody told me the details beyond 'x account is a wretched troll, go attack!'. I ended up deleting my account out of sheer cringe, but that first time kinda stepping into the internet as an artist is always intense because you don't know exactly what you're supposed to do and so you're super dependent on someone more experienced giving you a bit of guidance, which can work out good or not-so-good depending on who you end up with. Sincerely, thanks for making me remember that. The benefit of hindsight and thinking of how ridiculous that all was made it kind of fun, and I'm glad that the rest of your commission experiences haven't been on That Level.
This part made me chuckle 7:00 . I get that you were 14, never knew Foxy or Nightmare Foxy on someone’s profile picture could make them more intimidating.
its hard to be a good artist with all the pressure that people gave when you have some commission. Just try your best, your art stile is unic and I hope you doing great things actually.☺
To what u said at the end: Don’t ever hesitate to post a video because you think little of it. I had the choice to choose any ONE video of any category before i go to bed tonight at 2 in the fricking morning, …and i chose yours because it seemed interesting.
I’ve only been commissioned to do photography but who knows what the future holds. You really handled this magnificently well. Also your raccoon character is positively adorable!
I love this video a lot, and it's hard to explain why. I can only imagine being in a situation like that and having to talk with three different people about it. Amazing ending, too.
I was impressed on how you knew how to manage online money transfers cause when i was 14 i was basically the same type of kid who just played with cars and games, did not know too much about how cards or online stuff worked. 8:51 got a big chuckle out of me.
Just to make it clear, there's no such thing as "pose theft" or "composition theft". It requires alot of skill to replicate a pose with different characters and designs. So it's safe to say that Foxxy here threatened a 14 yo kid with baseless accusation. This is the kind of thing that pisses me off to see as a working artist.
The number of people who get wrongfully called out by bigger artists for "stealing art" or stealing their "awesome oc design" on deviant and other places makes my blood boil. Half of the time, these cases can be boiled down as kids taking a bit too much inspiration from a single source because they still dont have the maturity to come up with a trully original design or straight up....JUST someone taking inspiration from your work. To every artist in here: If there is similarities between your work and someone elses, IT DOESNT NECESSARILLY MEAN ITS STEALING OR PLAGIARISM! Colour and pose "theft" is not a thing and you shouldnt feel pressured to change a design for small factors or colour palets!
yeah, i had a friend who accused me of stealing a character i made because she said it "looked too similar" but the only thing that was even remotely similar was that they has a half and half color pattern on their design. like huh? you cant own a pattern. we aint friends anymore but yeah
It’s fun to be inspired by other people’s work- like WHAT IF SOMEONE MADE SOMETHING AWESOME BASED ON WHAT YOU DID? It would be so cool. Obviously directly stealing art or like the content farm stuff, etc etc is bogus. Idk I would feel flattered if someone was inspired by something I made and put into their own creation. 🥰 There’s definitely a difference between the average artists and LIL GRUBBI WEASEL HANDS or constipated always angy/salti boiz
@@iluvmesumgrapesoda9869 Yeah same! I like the idea that my designs might be inspiring someone out there! Last time I checked it was supposed to be a COMPLIMENT!
so deep amazing story this helps alot as an artist tho never did a commission but planning to, your experience just showed me some of the customers i should be mindful of
this video is on par with the popular storytime content, you should definitely do more if you have more stories left over! (also, the raccoon is really cute)
AAA that means so much to me, thank you!! And yep, I have more to come! There will be a new 5min one tomorrow and I have another longer recording after that :) (thanks! it's a little character I've been doodling for years, don't remember how I even came up with them but I'm glad I finally put 'em to good use)
That bit at the end about the artist not being responsible of knowing the background of every reference (11:17) reminded me of one case I had, where a friend commissioned me to draw their vrchat avatar. I knew they're good enough with 3D tools to make/kitbash together an original design, and the character looked like it was in line with their tastes so I didn't think any of it. It was only after I finished that I found out the model was merely a recreation of a different artist's OC...

I was always worried about accidentally drawing a character that looked identical to someone else's, so ending up in someone's post about art theft? That would have been my worst nightmare. Great video! I'm shocked you dont have more subscribers.
I love your voice so much!!!
This video feels like something I'd see from a really big storytime youtuber, you deserve so many more followers!
^^
LMAO, I snorted at the crying/apologizing bit
Amazing video, 11/10 would recommend 😌👏
Reminds me of my commission as an tween where a grown ass adult commissioned me to draw a chibi character kneeling down in a cute pastel outfit… farting out a green cloud
Yeah I asked my then (still now) boyfriend, he laughed and instantly told me my commissioner had a fart fetish and bf was right on the money.
Still now?! Awwww!
The part where you explained why you couldn't pay the fox guy and how much love your dad really melted my heart.
Seriously Wowza, super entertaining! xD I loved all the characters you used and the fucking Kermit in the white jacket lmao.
You should do more of these. I love it!
Thank you so much!! And I'll definitely make more, you can count on that ;D
that foxy design is- ✨✨
Literally perfect! This video is a fun watch and I can't believe you don't have more subscribers considering the video's quality,
I can't wait too see how you progress in your art + youtube journey!
Framing this all with muppets characters made it so much more hilarious than it probably should've been
I understand the feeling of trying to do something nice and accidentally getting into situations with horrible people because of it, their words(and actions) haunting you every night when trying to sleep
Your storytelling is hysterical. The visuals and the characters used just really take the cake. 10/10
I like the idea of drawing peoples profile icons to represent them in an anonymous way like you did with Foxy.
Why is this so professional yet so underrated
This all honestly seems like some sort of setup scam between a group of people.
Possible, though I feel like they wouldn't have caved at 'fine. draw my cat' and instead kept on pushing for a refund of some sort.
I love how you tell your stories, it's very fun to watch and listen to
When I was 9 I was on a smaller drawing forum that was very intimate, everyone knew everyone.
I’m absolutely in love with all the random characters used as stand ins- when Batman showed up, I started laughing out loud haH
Great vid, I really enjoyed it
I now know to check the commissioner before hand cause you can never know how’d they turn up once you start working with them.
Usually my worst commissioners are “Gonna commission you to draw this for my friend” Cause they get SUPER PICKY and demanding. Which means i have to banish them to the shadow realm after it’s all well and done.
Here’s a couple of them:
-I had a commissioner demanding me to livestream the progress of the commission. I was super nervous and told them it makes me uncomfortable but they didn’t listen
-A commissioner told me to finish a commission under an hour due to a event happened on their end and started to curse at me
-A commissioner threaten to take their money back if i wasn’t solely working on theirs… dude my dad had a car accident I was frazzled couldn’t focus on the computer 24/7. This was all for $15 btw
-Creepy commissioners that sent me ‘I know you saw my message’
So here’s a pro tip to young commissioners out there.
1. If your client / commissioner is being a asshole to you. INSTANT refund them. Please don’t tolerate their ill behavior and keep your mental state at ease knowing you won’t be stressing out working for them
But I think sometimes there isn’t always an example 🤔
Sorry for the paragraph but I’m curious! 😅
The internet is seriously something else 💀💀, in my own experiences thankfully I haven't experienced full-blown theft yet (knock on wood), however I did have some random throw-away account blatantly ask me if I would draw them pr0n.... I was 15 - 16 at the time, WITH MY AGE DISPLAYED IN MY BIO :)
The only response I could muster was the reaction image of Jesus peeking around the corner saying "No."
Absolutely chad response
This is great because it goes to show you. Before you go to attack an artist or jump on a bandwagon, you need to understand the whole picture
Idk why the hell this shit is getting views but if i reach 200sub(way sandwiche)s, I will return to youtube lol
Update: Well fuck.
Better return lmao jkjk, only if u want, luv ur content ^^
@@SpArkyTheDerg Yeah I literally just checked my sub count for the lols and went “oh no oh fuck now i actually gotta resurrect this dead channel 😭” But fr, that is the plan, just gotta finish some stuff first. Stupid fuckin university and work getting in the way, the absolute audacity… Well anyway, see y’all in -an undisclosed amount of time- ✌️
Oh my freaking god... you were just a 14 years old teenager when you experienced this.
I had a similar problem with a couple of clients like a year ago, I was 21 back then and I was in a freaking mental breakdown while trying to deal with them; I dont wanna imagine the level of anxiety you had to go through. ;w;
I'll say it, fuck that "Foxy" guy, what the heck do they think its gonna happen if they start yelling at anyone they find on the internet, that's just not okay. (Also, considering that the whole issue of "THAT'S A POSE FROM MY DRAWING, YOU NEED TO PAY ME" its pretty ridiculous, they definetely needed to chill a bit...)
I'm really sorry you had to go through this crap when you were younger, MY GOD. ;w;
Love the way you drew ms. Piggy, she clearly is slayin here
Plot Twist:
Kermit is secretly Batman, and when he saw his own wife, Mrs. Piggy, telling Wowza to copy his own art, he felt mortified…
(Also, no wonder why Kermit is so rich.
You need waaaaaaaay more subscribers! Great videos and super cute raccoon avatar! :)
Thank you so much!! :) Maybe if I was actually consistent at posting pfff but I aint a full time youtuber, so everyday life gets in the way. Hope to post more stuff someday soon tho
@@wowzadawg3838 Don’t push yourself too much! We all (I’m speaking for the majority of us because well… why would we be here if otherwise?) enjoy and respect your videos, but that doesn’t mean you should overwork yourself just because of your channel. (Sorry if this is paranoid or a very late comment, but I just wanted to say this because no one is forcing you to keep on posting these if it can get in the way of your life ;D)
Art drama is really stupid, people get butthurt over nothing
I have done over 80 comms, but so far I haven't experienced something like this, although I have to admit, that it's a fear that lives in the back of my head
Thank you for opening a window to the drama of oc fanart commissions
Love this, your art, and you!
No matter the pose, you cant copywrite it..
lol
Poses aren't copyrighted.
Wasn’t expecting to see ya here lol
The kermit and ms piggy art was so beautiful i cried, and the cat was beautiful
Poor Batman, that must have been an awful surprise after a logn day of crime fighting
This actually really inspired me! I’m a 14 year old artist looking to start commissions and for some reason this gave me the motivation to
I need more Wowza Dad in my life. I love his lil mullet
If you aren't ready then don't play with people's money wait till you are confident in your ability. Easy?
This should be a mandatory video for all commissioners fr
Great video!
To what u said at the end:
Don’t ever hesitate to post a video because you think little of it. I had the choice to choose any ONE video of any category before i go to bed tonight at 2 in the fricking morning, …and i chose yours because it seemed interesting.
This entire situation sounds absolutely awful. I'm so sorry you had to go through that.
Batman's Batcave got a real thorough makeover since I last saw it goddamn
I’ve only been commissioned to do photography but who knows what the future holds. You really handled this magnificently well. Also your raccoon character is positively adorable!
I love this video a lot, and it's hard to explain why. I can only imagine being in a situation like that and having to talk with three different people about it. Amazing ending, too.
I was impressed on how you knew how to manage online money transfers cause when i was 14 i was basically the same type of kid who just played with cars and games, did not know too much about how cards or online stuff worked. 8:51 got a big chuckle out of me.
i think every artist out there has a story like this to tell
This channel is nice. A nicer, mellower, calmer storytime channel. I love the casual music and the lack of 'in-your-face' content. Keep it up!
As a commissioner this is a horror story I always try to make commissions as clear and if anything even happens I contemplate deactivating irl
@@MarsMakes Yep, some artists really out there thinking they own everything.
I know this video is old but I am sorry you went through all of this and this is the reason I gave up on the art community. Hope all is well now.
2:12 I LOVE how it’s the white suit kermit
This randomly appeared in my recommendations and oh boy was this a roller-coaster.
your little racoon persona thing is so cute and increases my enjoyment 10x while watching
the difference between reference and copying can sometimes be difficult to ascertain, but the way you described it, you obviously referenced it
That was a good story! Art drama is really weird but you Handled that better than most adults do at the age of 14 tbh.
the story is cool, but I really loved your narration. You sound really chill.
“FiNe DrAw My CaT 😤😤”
😭✋
so deep
amazing story this helps alot as an artist tho never did a commission but planning to,
your experience just showed me some of the customers i should be mindful of
5:32 LOL I WAS PLAYING SONIC MANIA WHILE WATCHING THIS AND THE CHAOS EMERALD SOUND PLAYED ASOON THIS APPEARED
this video is on par with the popular storytime content, you should definitely do more if you have more stories left over!
(also, the raccoon is really cute)
AAA that means so much to me, thank you!! And yep, I have more to come! There will be a new 5min one tomorrow and I have another longer recording after that :)
(thanks! it's a little character I've been doodling for years, don't remember how I even came up with them but I'm glad I finally put 'em to good use)
@@wowzadawg3838 woo! cant wait! 😆 and i’m glad the character got put to good use
Loved the story, I've had similar nonsense happen to myself actually, I do hope you're raising your prices though! Shine on you crazy diamond.
When it comes to the heartbreak segment. Don't stress. It sounds like you helped him dodge a bullet.
I am not the biggest fan of story time videos, but I did enjoy this video quite a bit. Great editing, top tier visuals, keep up the great work!
6:04 W Kermit, He's a Chad
