Someone also asked me to draw their character in another artist's artstyle. I was quit surprised and asked them why I would draw in someone else's artstyle. The reasons were simple: the "original" artist's commissions were closed at the time and my prices were cheaper 🙃 NGL, that hurts aha
That is disrespectful and not just towards you but towards the other artist as well! People like that needs to learn patience and respect! If you do not like the budget then look at other artists as well not to try and replace someone's style but to look at their own and choose what you love in your price range! It is not hard.
"You do it for fun, right?" this always made me so angry. It sounds as if in order to know how to draw, colorize and such we don't need to study and really dedicate ourselves, like we don't put work into it and, therefore, we don't need to be paid for it. Some of my experiences made me consider that this has something to do with the idea that artists are "naturally talented", as if they were "born with it". And if it comes "naturally", why charge for it, right? Except it doesn't come naturally lol. So yeah, ignorance about how much time we actually spend working on it.
You can draw right? Since you think that this is so easy then you can do it for yourself right? No? That is to bad because now you have to learn it then because i do not give you my art. Seriously! Why people want something so badly then have the opposite of a mentality towards the maker? They gave you what you wanted, made you happy! GIVE APPRECIATION! Sorry this just makes by blood boil. Even if we were naturally talented if you do ANYTHING, even just walking that requires attention, effort and time. Art is not an exception. The more they try to twist reality the more stupid they sound.
Seriously! Non-artists have this weird idea that we are just born and we know how to draw these amazing pieces on our first try. It takes blood, sweat, and tears. It takes years for us to learn how to draw. We’re not gonna do it for free.
Okay, I'd DEFINITELY go after this guy! The audacity??! I'm a shy person, but honestly if they owed me money after such a hard commission, one that probably took a lot of time and effort, and just dissapeared instead of giving me an explanation? If I were you, I'd literally go after his friends and girlfriend. "You know, this birthday present? It's a commission from me, one that your boyfriend never paid! Here's all the evidence, good morning." ... I'm realizing that maybe I'm a little more crazy than I thought, LOL.
No you are right! He should not get away with it! Also the audacity to steal art that he gives to a loved one like wow. That is disrespectful towards them as well. I would be offended if i would have a boyfriend who gives me stolen art as a so called present.
I did commissions for Nintendo eshop credit, and this one person sent me a DM for a commission and gave me all the info they wanted for it, and sent me a png of the front of an eshop card expecting that to be the payment lmao good thing I ask for payment up front because that would’ve been quite the waste of time otherwise.
Working with casual customers will always be like this. It gave me so much stress. But the attitude dramatically changes when working with professionals. At some point I stopped working for people and I have never been happier :)
I just came across this video. That last story is infuriating. Idk exactly how long ago it happened, but you should definitely still talk to his girlfriend about it and show her screenshots of the messages. She should be aware that she received stolen artwork as a gift.
"But that's what we agreed on" yeah exactly, but you told them to change alot of stuff which is not what you agreed on, so of course you have to pay more, it's literally common sense. And plus they already finished the artwork, so making another one just in different clothing and stuff, it's basically just ordering 2 artworks lmao.
I once got one of those scam "I want you to draw my son's pet" messages that are all over Instagram now and I checked through my feed and I had literally never posted any animal pictures there. So I was like "Why, thank you! I appreciate your contact. But I have never posted a single animal drawing, what made you want to commission me for it, of all people?" Aaaaaand I never heard back from them lmao
I’m just saying but for commissions have it as a requirement where they need to pay half of the full price upfront and only send them a low resolution until they pay the remaining half. If they don’t pay then end the transaction at where they stop paying. Or something similar to what I’m saying. If your providing your service then it should be on your terms. If they’re not happy with the terms then they’re allow to find someone else.
never get it when ppl are shocked when you draw art in your artstyle that you've shown forever 😭 even without the ''copy this other guy's art style'' thing, some ppl are like genuinely shocked that you cant suddently switch artstyles. Its like asking someone whose whole thing is playing a guitar to ask them ''can you make me a song with a piano :)''
I do free edit requests don't have a pay pal and someone asked for a edit Asked for a picture they sent a terrible quality one Asked better quality not sent then they message me and say "how's the edit"
@@dysia_art I know right like dude I need better quality image or the details won't be right but I had another case with a different person who just ghosted me after i asked for one
Oh :c! I'm sorry to hear that! Maybe start within a safe space? Ask friends or family if the want to commission you, or start with art trades 🤔. And then slowly go further 🤔💕
I haven't had a bad commission experience yet but a lot of people seem to want artwork for cheap or free which i find very disrespectful considering the time and effort it takes. I get commissioned for realistic graphite or charcoal portraits 95% of the time. I'm pretty good at them, takes me about 14+hrs even days to complete some. I get asked for prices a lot and most of them say "ill send you the pic later" and they never do lmao Makes me wanna quit sometimes but the ones who do appreciate my art and time usually end up paying me more than what i asked so that motivates me to keep going.
this got me very curious,do you have a social media acc where i can follow you?,i am really bad at art but i really love making art and i think i wanna start at 5$-10% how much do you ask for you art sir?
I still meet artists that don't ask for upfront payments and it always surprises me! Idk if they think they need to prove themselves with extra trust but as a commissioner it honestly makes me more nervous. I want to have the payment in and have nothing to remember by the time I get the piece. But I don't push it. It's so easy for scammers to rip artists this way, just ask for a payment or even half first. It's not offensive if the person is serious about buying.
I don't do commissions (anymore) but I have ordered some recently, and I did it through fiver, where you have to pay first, and the money is released to the artist when the work is done. That way people can't not pay you. (but the site takes a fee for every payment)
Beautiful artwork, very talented! And.. hope your experience made you stronger. Sometimes people acting strange. But art have to be ontop of that all, right? :)
I know i comment this very late but you should: - state your TOS or ToA on a document - tell them the differences between stylized and realistic (many non artists don’t know what stylized means) - show your complete work in watermark. If they tell you to remove it, tell that you will remove the watermark once you received the payment - 10 USD is way too low!!!
Maybe specify next time how many revisions they are only allowed. Then pay upront or half the commission price. Dont send a high def. photo of what they commission. Sometimes people want free stuff and doesnt want to pay.
the 2nd story because your price more cheap and you already do that pieces so she thought why not combined both ..that my thought and i think that commission is young too
for the first one, maybe by realistic he meant "fully rendered" so when he saw the sketch hes like wtf that's way less detailed then what i wanted? thinking in like a none artist terms and such

Thank you for the feedback! I'm happy that you like my story, it's my second storytime on yt and I don't know if people find it interesting ;p.
WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS you poor thing! They probably wait to change it to try and get two pictures for the price of one. Screenshot's all it takes.

Thanks for making this video! I was thinking on doing commissions on a video game. Thanks for telling me what might happen if I did do commissions!
Off topic but during this video you gave me an idea for my comic so I wanted to thank you for that 😊
Woah, that's so cool :)! Good luck with your comic
on that last one, i think some people tell others what they want to hear, but never follow through with their actions
I hate someone did this to you your arts so cute
