Big fan of the Transit of Venus here! Watched the 2004 transit on the computer in my office tower and in 2012 an IT associate projected the transit onto a screen at the public library where I was director (a few people stopped by to take a look). Also, I prepared a brief talk about the transit for a local civic club of which I was a member. Very fine video presentation here about the incredible Jeremiah Horrocks.

Fantastic. An observation of a world beyond ours.

one of the best little dramatizations ever on TV.... Thank you Judith Hirsch for getting me a VHS copy back in the 90's! otherwise I would have forgotten him. Absolute Genius and just in time, so sad a loss, but he contributed SOOOOO much to science!

Horrocks was a brilliant young man. The great Newton commented on this himself. We will never know what else he would have achieved.

Thank you so much for uploading. Here in Germany there is only very few information available of this remarkable genuis.
By the way. Isn´t it a shame that this video only has 308 views in 25 months?

6 12 20 Hey september 1863, Agree, not enough views & a great astronomer; died way too young. It's unfortunate people don't enjoy astronomy. I was able to photograph the transit for 5 & 1/2 hours; a highlight of my life! Stay safe, keep calm, & be well. v

@@virginiatyree6705 - Yes. I was lucky to visit the last 2 venus transits. And some months ago we had a mercury transit. But unfortunately 2 minutes before it startet there came some clouds and afterwards we hat rain. Here in Germany there is an average of ca. 2 clear days / nights per week.

6 13 20 Hey@@verschissmuss3171, Wow, both Venus transits; lucky, you were. I was fortunate to see the Mercury transit. It was fun to observe. I have become fascinated by all transits & the Universe in general; a hobby. Heads up: next transit of Uranus as seen from Neptune (the rarest of all transits) will be October AD-38,172! I'll be ready-lol. Sorry you missed the transit due to weather. Happy gazing. Stay safe, keep calm, & be well. v

Amazing, and rather sad that he is not better known. Jeremiah Horrocks is one of my favourite astronomers and one of the greatest of all time
