- In a Facebook Live Thursday night, United Auto Workers union President Shawn Fain outlined the plant targets for the possible "Stand Up Strike" strategy.
This advice is mostly for YOUNG people in their 20s. Obtain job SKILLS such that you are VALUABLE in the market place. Yes. This can be hard to do when you are working 40 hours a week in an auto factory. Take some night classes at a community college. Consider getting into the trades, etc. ALSO, Learn how to handle your money. SAVE your money and when you have enough money for a down payment then BUY a home and DON'T rent. When you are 65 then it is much better to have a PAID OFF HOUSE versus renting. Stay away from drugs and alcohol.
IF you are a parent with kids still in grade and high school then do whatever it takes to instill personal responsibility to acquire job skills. You want your kids to have a better life than you have.
They want a 40% raise. Goodbye Detroit; hello Florida, Tennessee and Texas
Yawn troll
Thank you Mr. Fain❤❤❤❤❤💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
The UAW expects that the people will get angry and put pressure on the OEM's to settle and give in to the absurd demands. Well guess what UAW. We do not support you. I encourage the OEM's to relocate to right to works states. BUST THE UNION!
Strike
Has Biden recognized this formation? This is a massive display of strength. Smell a convoy coming through
Gtfo we suppose to all strike!!!
You’re not getting the pensions back and keep on smoking if you think the 32 hour work weeks are going to be a thing. At this rate, these companies are going to move to FL for production where unions have been annihilated. Also keep in mind this guy isn’t necessarily broke with a 200k salary which he is looking to increase by increasing union dues with the contract negotiations.
Them boots tasty bud?
In Germany, the 32 hour work week is really a thing.
Exactly; they are fighting for a 40% raise which is unheard of. And with the cost of new cars by far the highest ever; all they are doing is pushing the cost even higher. First with their strike which creates supply shortages and then if they win, the CEO's raise cars by another 15 or 20%. They should relocate to a state that has workers who would be very happy making $75,000 for a 32 hour work week
@@888strummerThe "Big Three" automakers have made $21 billion in the first six months of 2023. Corporate CEO pay went up 40%.
Corporations talk about how workers being treated fairly is going to drive up the cost of vehicles.
In the last four years, the cost of vehicles went up 30%; our wages went up 6%.
This boils down to one thing: It's corporate greed. It's not our contracts, it's not our members' demands.
Either you stand for a billionaire class where everybody else gets left behind, or you stand for the working class
@@markhudson6137 Your union leaders are saying no to a 20% pay increase where almost every worker would be making over $100,000. Instead your union leaders are pushing for a 40% pay increase and for you to work just 4 days a week instead of 5. To many of us hard working Americans; it sounds like pure greed on the union's part.
I only can afford to live in my mom's basement and ride a bike to work. Good luck.
Wanna work at ford?
Want to work in the Carpenters local 285.😊
Man this is motivation!
"We are NOT gonna wreck the economy -
we are gonna wreck THEIR economy"

The economy that you will work will be YOURS.
Easy fix .they should shut their doors and move to Mexico
@@sheldonsmith3680no doubt, I'm sure it's being discussed.
Unions are nothing more than Organized Crime !!!
Go get em. Strike !!!!!! Solidarity till the end. My father was a 40 year member
Nice 39 years with the Carpenters. I helped build the GM Parma plant in Ohio.👍🇺🇸
Fight the GOOD FIGHT!!! Live union work better working Americans! Fight back 😊
We the north are with you brothers and sisters. Local 1285 is ready to roll.
I wish the post office union was this tough to fight for a better future contract ! Working with a expired contract since may 20 and barely anything happening with no news…
I hope you get a good contract soon we signed ours in May.
They don't care
Fantastic worry the post office is little by little being contracted out...
Unions are Organized Crime plain and simple.
Seems a little soft. Why three final assembly plants??🤔🤔 Several stamping plants make multiple vehicles parts🤔 Several engine plants make multiple vehicles motors🤔🤔 This seems more for show. Makes no sense….. Please explain.
Tells me you don't understand the algorithm and how it builds leverage for the strikers.
Thanks for screwing all the feeder plants youll be getting your $500 a week and my family gets a big fat 0
boo hoo u broke ass:)
Management is learning Spanish already.
Mary Barra is that you?
Thank you all for your bravery!!!
Bravery.....no no no it's called Bribery like organized crime !!!!
Union Strong. Solidarity with my brothers and sisters in the UAW
All 150,000? Bahahaha
Keep giving them reasons to move more plants to Alabama and Mexico
@hollynonya6991 That's the same thing I herd when I was a little boy in the 60s now is 2024 uaw and other locals still doing are thing.
Can someone explain the strategy behind this slow rollout strike vs. everyone striking?
There forcing Ford gm and Chrysler to lay these folks off instead of using the uaw strike fund if the company tells you to stay home that's a LAY OFF.
@@anthonydorazio9650 these people cane collect unemployment and even be offered retention bonuses upon return

Most of these assembly jobs will eventually be automated out of existence. A large number already have but you haven't seen anything yet.
Please run for President of the United States!! Its time for the working class to rise up against greedy corporations and be able to live the American Dream! Enough is enough! Working class Americans are fed up with the status quo in Washington. Corporate Democrats and Republicans alike, do not care about us.

Good for all of you. He is a bad A$$
do people know that the avg uaw workers for past 10years have average $10k per yr in profit sharing...free college...lots of overtime at 1.5x and 2x pay rate...free healthcare...free legal advice...many uaw workers make $100k per yr with some overtime..does this sound like struggling?
Hell ya!!!!!! Go get em Shawn! From unifor!
This is what the organised labour movement need to be tough and militant.
Prison sentence waiting for you !!!
We need low price gas to drive for working to support our families , don't vote for Demoncrats and RINO in 2024 election please American people 🙏 🙏🙏
3 Plants.... weakest strike ever. Come on....
Yep, talked it all up and hyped everyone up for a full walkout. And then this is what we get? Sounds like someone was bought out to take it easy.
Proves once again that the UAW is simply a company union. Nothing more.
Why you crying I work for supplier for GM effects my if GM strikes no one talks about I do not support uaw at all or the workers none of it
Don't worry Mexico would be very happy to get all those jobs...and all these guys would be begging for a job at Walmart...
EAT THE RICH 🤬
That’ll never happen
Fully support UAW
I am a UAW worker and YOU all need to buy American cars while I buy furniture made in Mexico, hire an illegal alien to do yard work around the house, buy Chinese made goods at Walmart, Chinese tools for house work, etc. buy YOU need to BUY AMERICAN CARS to SAVE my job.
3 units? You should have held to your guns and everyone should have walked. Everyone was ready. Show these big corporations the people aren’t to be messed with. This is weak. Very upset with this outcome. My wife and I both. Hit them in the wallet that’s the only way they’ll negotiate the terms you want.
Then we’ll run through our strike fund
Atlas Falls you don't understand unions there forcing Ford gm and Chrysler to lay these people off then they will get unemployment. 39 year member in carpenters and Union Stewert for 25.
Guess the big three should have invested in the workers ans not the ceo and stock buy backs.
Strike coming
Fuck 'em up. Hold the line. We've got your back
Only 3 facilities STRIKE . . . LoL . . . Corporate is LAUGHING 😂
You don't understand the algorithm behind the strategy too bad for you.
These companies might move down south...you better be careful if that happen
Yep Shawn going drown these company's he's doesn't care
ya, we're real scared
@bayphan9777 I got 25yrs at gm, I don't give a rats ass if it sinks or swims, but I will risk it all:), but tnx for ur concern.
AMEN 🎉
Thanks to the UAW I got a 40% pay raise but my hours were reduced to ZERO per week.
Welp I'm getting layed off.....thanks
So is my husband who works at a feeder plant we get no strike pay so thanks for screwing my family
Job well done, UAW. Thanks.
I thought unemployment was still available to laid-off workers ?
@@DariusMiller-gr5zxit is.
Not if you just started the job and haven't been there for 6 weeks yet. Me and my wife got this job because we needed to get a car and apartment by the end of this month. Started a week and a half ago. Working overtime. Then this happened.
39 year Carpenter retired local 285 supporting you folks. Always bought USA 🇺🇸. 😊
Actually you didn't always bought USA. Probably at least 50% if not closer to 75% of the stuff you buy is not made in the US.

All that talk for such a weak showing.... oh no not a paint department
They can't sell unpainted cars. This puts the automakers in a position of paying workers to not produce something that can be immediately sold.
@@damianstellabott3613 you can ship them to be painted easily. Michigan law allows the them to do a layoff without unemployment if the job is affected by a strike. It's on the miwam page

Companies will not negotiate lol they have alot of vehicles sitting in lots 😂😂😂😂 hope they have savings cause this will last a while.... good thing I don't buy them cars...
Please, strike. Force those greedy employers to relocate their companies south of the border.
That’ll help keep foreigners from illegally crossing our border.
I was going to buy an American flag to support AMERICAN workers but found out that they were all made in China.
How much did General Motors give you??? You picked 3 facilities that’s doesn’t effect the bottom line. SMH

I guess I will buy more TSLA shares tomorrow morning if this strike happens. And maybe some GM & F puts. Short-term and long-term expirations. I saw unions put Mcdonnell Douglas out of business in St. Louis. GM for sure was already struggling. F was doing ok but this could hamstring it. Good thing the USA has a healthy non-union auto company to keep us ok through all of this; Tesla.
you receive the gayest comment of the night award
@@keekerz8393 😃😀😊✔️🇺🇸
Mcdonnell Douglas was acquired by Boeing, and the Boeing executives did exactly what all greedy corporate managers do after an acquisition and cut labor costs by firing workers. So....how is that the union's fault again? Also, what incentive would union protected workers have to bankrupt the business that their livelihoods rely upon? Are unions the ones who get golden parachutes worth millions of dollars after a company fails or is that management? I'm just asking the basic questions.
Congratulations, your buying the most overinflated stock on the market. Let's see how hard you hold in there when Musky boy cashes out YOUR money to wipe his ass on and burn.
Okay Elon 🙄

The big talk ALWAYS comes from somebody who has never been an employer.
I would say the big talk always comes from someone behind a keyboard.
The bootlicking ALWAYS comes from somebody who has spent their lives allowing corporations to make record breaking profits off of their labor while they live paycheck-to-paycheck. Workers generate the economic forces that creates jobs, not the other way around.
