Great story. You can’t reject a truth without knowing the truth…
What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

I'm an Atheist and I respect this. There is a big difference between someone who's put in the work and someone who has not and that applies to Theists as well.
Why waste my time reading a fairy tale book that I don't want to read?!
@@jordancambridge4106 it’s culturally important. You can’t understand our culture and history if you don’t understand Christianity, and the Bible is at least somewhat relevant. Given international travel and communications, I’d suggest reading the Hindu and Muslim holy books as well.
@@jordancambridge4106 , because then you would be reinforcing the confirmation bias at the stage of gathering information.

Untrue. Faith does not require scholarly understanding; it never has, otherwise it wouldn't be faith. This is the main point of ridicule when atheists go after believers.
By the same token I disagree with his statement; atheism in and of itself doesn't require research. Anybody can believe anything they want. His broader point is that atheists denigrate believers as uneducated rabble when they themselves are most often no better.

Well, then couldn't the same be said for a person who accepts their religion without having explored the other religions of the world? I mean, why should that standard only be for Atheists?
As a Christian, I say you are correct.
That's what I was thinking.
Yeah, something tells me this guy, and the vast majority of Christians, wouldn't find this story funny, amusing, or clever if the roles were reversed.
Sort of. However, an atheist is rejecting things and therefor should do so in an educated way. Someone who has found the truth knows it and I don’t believe they are responsible for continuing the search. Same with someone of another faith. I do believe though that they should definitely keep their mind open to be sure the truth they found holds up.

An atheist isn't someone who believes there is no god(s), but someone who does not believe in any god(s), for lack of any compelling proof etc.
If you don’t believe in any gods, then you are by logical default someone who believes there are no gods, unless you believe there are gods but don’t believe in any specific one, which would make you an agnostic theist.
Romans 1 says differently. You are without excuse on judgment day.
@@winser21 "If you don’t believe in any gods, then you are by logical default someone who believes there are no gods"
That is not correct. If something is not supported by evidence, but isn't proven impossible, then you can take a position of neither believing nor disbelieving.

@@paulbeardsley4095 You are then neither atheist nor theist if you have taken no position. You are simply agnostic on the issue.

@@paulbeardsley4095 Of course it doesn't make sense. Any attempt to go "no you!" falls flat on it's face... along with any other possible argument religious people could make.

It's the militant fundigelical atheists that bug me. I just ask them what difference it makes what anyone believes if none of it means anything anyway. If I were an atheist, my pragmatism would force me to be an existential and moral nihilist as that is the logical conclusion of naturalism. Why bother trying to improve humanity when it's going to end one day and will not have had any objective meaning? If we've evolved beyond the selfish gene stage and can choose not to reproduce or even continue living, we've beaten the only thing giving us the delusion of purpose.
Since it doesn't matter anyway, I'll choose Christ because He gives me a reason to fight against my amoral nature.
Funny as all get out!🤣
Hahah, fair point.
Why is the assumption is that an athiest has to do all the research as he states. Some people are just wired in that way.
Exactly. How can you have an opinion on something you know nothing about?
Thats a great point.
No not really, he's just switched the burden of proof to those who reject ridiculous claims from those who make them where the burden lies. Sneaky but not great.

Personally, it makes no sense to argue over religion. It's a belief for oneself, and in many cases, a belief that is to improve yourself and how you treat others. It's why people are judged by the morality their religion focuses on or abstains from, not the individual themselves. If there is something after this life, and your existence there is in any way determined or influenced by your life here, why risk ignorance costing you something better than your current trajectory will yield? If there is even a chance you are wrong, why waste your life on missing it?
@@matthewforish711 If there is nothing after this life, then all your pandering, submission, obedience, and beliefs won't change the fact that you spent your entire existence worshiping an imaginary being and missing out on what little chance you had at actually living. Praise Jesus.
@@GordonBowater If I am wrong, I wasted my life, which ultimately won't matter. If you are wrong, you have wasted eternity. I find fulfillment in my relationship with my savior. I hope you find fulfillment in your life.
@@GordonBowaterIf the Christian is wrong, they've lived thier life by a set of guidelines that enrich society, and themselves, if the atheist is wrong he is eternally damned for his sin. This argument favors the theist.
@@matthewforish711 If you're wrong, I wouldn't necessarily say you wasted your life. Ignorance is bliss right? If you truly believe your fairy tale and it makes you happy, I'd actually call that a win.
Atheist about what? The Tooth Fairy?
Well at least you admit your ancestors were monkeys. When I point that out to most atheists they immediately get offended which makes no sense.
Monkeys are cool.@@dougkenny6548
@@dougkenny6548I doubt that is true. More likely, they point out that humans and monkeys have a common ancestor and you choose to interpret it as taking offence.
Where's the funny?
Why do you think it should be funny?
@bobbyadkins6983 cause he supposed to be a comedian
@@darkestfenex2274 Sometimes even comedians say very serious things.
@bobbyadkins6983 yeah, the description of having become atheist after reading the bible and looking at the lack of evidence is how I ended up atheist. That part is spot on
@@darkestfenex2274 The evidence is everywhere. I've heard of different people who used to be atheists until they set out to disprove the Bible. After much reading of the Bible, they became believers.
By that standard every theist would also be a scholar in every religion. The joke is moronic.
Wait, so this is not "how to argue with an atheist" but "how to argue with an ignorant."

The quickest way to become an atheist is to read the Bible. 😂
uhmmmm ok? speak for yourself
Foolish talk!
Explain to me how nature can produce itself as well as the laws of physics.
Have you really read the Bible? Keep trying.
Atheists don't read the Bible; they don't believe in a higher power. They've heard of the Bible but don't read it deliberately.
A true atheist is simply someone who is not a theist...period!. How was this guy funny?
A true atheist doesn't feel he continually has to try to justify his views. Unfortunately there are very few true atheists.

Oh I'm sorry is he a comedian? Trying to look like Frankenstein isn't funny.
That's no way to talk about your dad.
All you have to do is point out that nature had a beginning (undisputed scientific fact) and since nature began to exist, whatever created nature must be supernatural.
Stated in proper logical format:
Premise 1: nature began to exist.
Premise 2: nature can’t be both cause and effect.
Premise 3: Nature is the effect.
Conclusion: therefore a supernatural powerful being created nature.
End of discussion. 👍🏻
Just because nature exists doesn't mean your imaginary friend created it or did anything at all. There's nothing logical about your 'logical format' in the least. Maybe you should stick to books with talking donkeys instead of logic.
The conclusion of your syllogism is flawed. The assumption that because there is nature, there has to be an all-powerful , supernatural entity that created nature, is totally lacking in logic. My response to your conclusion would be, “Says who?” So that really wouldn’t be the end of the discussion unless you turned around and walked away. William Lane Craig has built an industry out of his version of the Kalam cosmological argument and yet, he has still failed to prove his case.
You haven't even shown that your imaginary friend is even possible, let alone actually exsists, you've got a lot of work ahead of you before your conclusion can be accepted.
The discussion has just begun.👍
