I love my SkyBell 2.0 so much that I had an electrician wire my back entrance for a SkyBell hook up.I am going to put my new SkyBell HD on the front door and and the SkyBell 2.0 in the backyard. I purchased a Ring Doorbell camera and I just did not like the system and it's monthly fees. I also didn't like Ring's monthly service charges. No fee for video archives on the SkyBell service. Love my SkyBell!
Nice! Glad you like it. I totally agree with you, I hate getting charged for monthly fees that aren't necessary. That is definitely a major bonus with the Skybell system
My grandfather and I were just talking about installing something like this on my new house. Great video, I'm going to look into getting one of these :)
How is this any better than the Ring Doorbell‘s which have been tried in Trude so far and I asked because I own 6 cameras and 1 ring doorbell and five stick up cams
Do you have to pay for the cloud service? I suppose the videos/pictures are saved in a cloud? I am using OneDrive. Can I save the videos there or in any other device?
I bought an equal SkybelI this installed with Source 12v 1A. the Wire Doorbell, without resistor, worked perfect, but now only plays and can not open the video, is charging and not open. This right installation without Resistor? Must use Resistor? My voltage and 110W
Hello, Can I use this with multi-Unit. If not, do you have an idea of a wireless multi unit door bell with speaker and microphone that i can use. My old iaphone got broken and the contractor want $5k to rework all the connection.
-- BUT....what if I don't want to be tethered to my cell phone or have to have it grafted to my side. When I am at home lounging around, I don't want to be carrying my cell around with me from room to room. So if it is left in one part of the house and I have wondered to another side, I will never hear that door bell. Since it is connected to the bell electrical circuit, doesn't it trip the hard wired house bell? And why isn't there an "app" for the computer. If I could see this on the computer, then with the flip of the mouse, I could also see the video image on the TV because my PC and the TV talk to each other. If indeed it is designed ONLY to interface with the cell phone, that would be a big negative IMHO.
Thanks for the comment. As I quickly mentioned in the video, yes it IS connected to your hard wired house bell, which ALSO rings with the press of the button.
Hi, Ben. Been considering this doorbell the first time I saw it. May I ask if we do need the app to be running in the background in order to receive notifications when it detects motion at the door? :) Thanks in advance!
Thx. Nice review. Where are the videos stored? Inside the actual doorbell, on my phone, or on skybell's servers? I read that there are no monthly fees. How does this work?
I believe all those recorded video clips are stored on Skybell's servers for free, no paid cloud subscription needed. And you can freely download those clips to your phone.
No, but it is a piece of junk. The button to ring the door bell stopped working after 4 months and then 3 months later the motion sensor quit too. I tell all my friends and family who ask about the SkyBell not to buy it.
Well , I was an early adopter of this product . It has never worked as it was supposed to, despite trying 3 different routers and both Android and IOS apps it has never synced . I also got a replacement unit ( Not the newer model in the video) so my conclusion is the model I have should never have been released . It works fine as an expensive doorbell button but after the hours of time I spent trying to get it to sync to my account I am highly disappointed.
That is unfortunate - I think these sort of home devices need to be working easily/smoothly/uptime 99.9% of the time... and if they aren't they should get all the bugs worked out first, before release
M W - I was an early adopter as well. And had problems with it too. They ended up replacing it 3 times before it worked correctly. The motion sensor never did work right, doesn't go off standing in front of it and other times it randomly goes off with no one there.
I bought one of these and found it not fit for purpose as it needs at least 1.5Mbps internet upload speed and without Fibre Optic Broadband it is most likely that you will not have enough internet speed here in the UK.
With Skybell, do you have to go third party in order to have your videos recorded? The ring doorbell requires a third party outfit that you pay $30.00 (yearly) to in order for your videos to be recorded. Had I known that I wouldn't have bought the ring doorbell product! : (

Here's a not so obvious factor to consider. How about the investability of the company from a product support standpoint. SkyBell thinks that 3 years is sufficient support for a $250 doorbell and thinks nothing of leaving owners with an expensive paper weight when they decide to roll a rev. SkyBell Technologies' business philosophy is atrocious and this should be a very important consideration for people to be aware.
Nice video but you shouldn't end sentences with the word (at). Also, the photos of people who are on your phone aren't very clear. Can you really identify someone if you needed to with that quality of video camera?
+Nitrous Oxide The connection is not solid and will corrode over time. I'd give it no more than a couple of years in a dry environment before you start having dropouts. The connectors are no more bulky than twisting the wires and taping them.
David, this is low voltage. Twisting and taping is not at all verboten. You are correct that hand twisting can leave the wires less than tight; the better way would be to twist them together tightly with pliers, thus insuring a good metal to metal contact.

Words from Caleb.. Quote "MAN HE'S GOOD!" I would have to agree! Amazing, yet again. Loved the baby clip!! 😊
Had mine for 4 years works really well
Favourite tech reviewer, how don't you have at least 1 million subscribers?? Keep up the great videos!!
My grandfather and I were just talking about installing something like this on my new house. Great video, I'm going to look into getting one of these :)
Thank you for sending this video to us
You're welcome
The little "security" hex screw won't stop anyone from ripping that plastic doorbell off the wall.
Wow this was the best video 📹 Nice work Bruh
+Shafin Zaman Thanks!

+GoProKiddo Thank you
+Ben Schmanke :D i subbed u will see me around a lot. Great production quality
+GoProKiddo Thanks for the sub!
They didn't make the housing out of plastic to be more durable. They made it that way to be less expensive.
Arielle West - I totally agree! A metal housing would have been more durable.
I am waiting for this to be installed right now. I hope the picture is clearer than the ones in your video.
can skybell camera be used/mounted alone. wired inline with existing doorbell?
my doorbell is dead,do i have 2 yes those dead wires?also its not in a good place, too low,van use this on its own with no old deaddoorbellwires?
Would like to hear the pros and cons on this one like your August bell vid.
How is this any better than the Ring Doorbell‘s which have been tried in Trude so far and I asked because I own 6 cameras and 1 ring doorbell and five stick up cams
hi great video :) is that an iphone or what type of phone is it in the video that you use? thanks
Do you have to pay for the cloud service? I suppose the videos/pictures are saved in a cloud? I am using OneDrive. Can I save the videos there or in any other device?
No charge at this fine. I believe you save the videos locally, but then you can sync/backup those files to your cloud.

I'm not sure about the resistor, sorry. Contact their support team and they should be able to help you out
Thanks
what if someone steals it ? they van use it on their phone..plus does it work in below freezing temperatures like Canada ?
How sensitive is the motion sensor? I would like something that activates from at least 10 meters away.
30 feet away? I'm not sure, sorry
how does this work with other home automation devices??I know it's suppose to work with nest
Hello,

+Gbolahan Adefila I'm not sure, sorry
Ok.. Thanks

No, you don't need it running in bg. They are push notifications.
Ok thanks, Ben! Good to know it doesn't require that! :D
Thx. Nice review. Where are the videos stored? Inside the actual doorbell, on my phone, or on skybell's servers? I read that there are no monthly fees. How does this work?

Can we download the app on my laptop or just on our phone.
I had this for a few month. Lately the mic act up. I just contact them. Let's see what's up
+JohnyTechReview Interesting.. keep us posted. I've had mine for about 2 months and no issues yet.
There are two other #products ahead of you, in stores now. It's going to be tough. Price or feature advantage is your only play here. Good luck.
How can I change the wifi settings, I could Brinks a waited for 30 minutes and no answer
nice
The Skybell work only with Alarm.com right thanks
for the videos, does it require a subscription or cloud service like others?
No, but it is a piece of junk. The button to ring the door bell stopped working after 4 months and then 3 months later the motion sensor quit too. I tell all my friends and family who ask about the SkyBell not to buy it.
Does my old door bell still work or is it only on my cell thank you
Yes, your old bell still rings

Dan its probably a car
Wasn't a car. The early models motion sensor was just terrible.

Cool stuff, however i think it really need at least a 720p resolution
+KridTV - I think they have a newer version out that has HD video.
what phone is youre holding?
Great video but I wish you had said what is the price. Now, I have to go to Amazon to check the price.
What if you walk out your front door...will you just be recorded everytime by the sensor.
my friend has one
640x480? What a piece of $ⓗⓘⓣ.
Can it recognize known and unknown faces for opening the door.
I'm not sure if this one can, but the Nest can

Bad resolution and you have to use your phone to hear the door bell or communicate? Bad idea.
but what if you didnt already have a doorbell
H2 Hundals - Then you're out of luck, it needs power from your hard wired doorbell
can i have for my birthday on my front door
hey guys this is austin
Nice video but you shouldn't end sentences with the word (at). Also, the photos of people who are on your phone aren't very clear. Can you really identify someone if you needed to with that quality of video camera?
Looking at the price of this gadget very expensive
So what happens when someones ringing the bell and your phone is out of charge? Is there a chime?
+1ninjatiger - Yes, it still rings your home chime
+AuthenTech - Ben Schmanke i have a wireless bell at the moment so would I need to purchase a wired chime. Im thinking yes
i came from sneaker head in the bay who else?
Hello
the quality isnt good
is the video archive a paid cloud service? What is the deal?
+Ben Schmanke
BUT WHAT IF THEY KNOCK?? DUH DUH DUUHHHHHH
That's why it has a motion sensor
JDestroy Motion Censor bro
Laiza Resendez lol
RING wifi door bell way better!!
The ring video doorbell rings outside your house but not inside unless you buy the additional chime....all that should be in the box from the start.
LOOKS EXTREMELY CHEAP AND OVER PRICE
What
What the heck
Oh my god you twist and tape??? Nope nope nope next video
+david hurtado No Electrician here, but why is that a bad thing?
+Nitrous Oxide The connection is not solid and will corrode over time.
