edit: OOF on the b17 crash landing. I could tell he was going too slow with that much wing area missing. Be better off landing with less flaps+higher throttle and risk overrunning. Hindsight tho! RIP
Yup, it was a tragic crash and I fully agree on less flaps and more speed. Poor Crabby was super tired at the time :/
The game has aged very well and although I only have the official patches on it still is my favourite of the IL-2 series.
The newer versions are only better to the graphics department in my opinion.

Another outstanding mission by Fishyyy and Company! That would be cool if you guys could recreate the mission flow by the Memphis belle - not the 1990 movie version, but the 1943 wartime version Memphis Belle or recreate the maximum effort depicted in the other wartime film “Target for Today”!

This mission reminds me of that engine part that belonged to a B-17 that ditched near Dungeness called "Sleepy Time Gal".
Awesome video, love it! Listened and peeked at it when I was stopped for a break during work. I'm just getting back into sims and IL-2 myself, lately! Finally got my new Crosswinds in earlier this week!
I love going from the chatty bomber crew, talking about the history of the strategic eighth air force and making jokes (cause there's nothing else to do) to the completely dead silent and focused fighters, who you know are all just scanning the skies and retrimming every now and then, lol.
This was so awesome to see I love IL2.

To the man in the video who was looking for a B17 flight experience, look into the Aluminum Overcast flights. They travel a good bit with their B17
Agreed, Commemorative Air Force does a few as well with Yankee Lady, just like they do FiFi. Expensive but they go on for a good while. I recall seeing her over EAA almost every hour of the show until sundown.
She might just do it at airshows tho, not sure.

I can't believe I had to pause this mission 🤣 visual just so I can get a six pack to calm my nerves...having to fly vacarilsely with you crazy Britt's again...even though I'm Canadian of Scottish decent...my last name is on the label of bottle of scotch whisky...you might have had a shot of some. Salute.
This was my first Fishyyy video, I watched all 3:38 of it while setting up a guitar. Whoever was calling out the B-17s falling out of formation from flak must have watched real mission film. Will they get back to base? When the B-17 stalled and crashed I was mildly upset like if the movie Memphis Belle ended with the crew killed in a crash.

thats a great video I think anyone who witch's this video can hold their breath longer than they realised. its a shame the Bomber didn't make it back but maybe next time
I enjoyed some of the historical discussions on the B17 on their way over. I wouldn't mind that becoming something more common/planned. :)
We have been considering a podcast style format for a long time. At the moment most people are pretty busy and we use the rare times, when everyone is together, to fly :/

I have a question.
Are those nose art icons custom made or it's the game's ready ones?
If those are custom I want to know what program you made them on and how you maintain the good quality in low resolution images.
I tried to make my own by I get big pixels at small images.
"A bit o'lace", "Beer o'clock high", "Kill Stealer" and "Marcom's lady" were part of their respective skins. We used HD skins and I put the nose arts directly on the skins. Only "Frankie" was a noseart. I generally use "PaintdotNET".

I was making my own nose art png images and then putting them on the paintskin blending them together in an online Photoshop clone program.
It works but if you see the art very close you get a bit pixelized images.
Seeing them from a distance (like you are standing about the 5-10 meters from the plane it looks decent.

You know, we do use a specifically made AI mod already. Self made, because no one else makes any. We haven't gotten around to that yet.
Who can point me to some installation guide if i wanna fly b17 single player campaign missions in 1946? I've been trying for hours, im starting to get desperate. pls help ;(
There aren't any that are worthwhile. There simply isn't anything out there to be downloaded that would achieve this level of quality. We are using our own mod to make this type of mission possible at all. The missions in the videos were all custom made with a lot of effort. At this point the mod isn't far enough developed to be publicly released, yet.

I wish these vids would stop doing that. I lost count of the number of conversations I was tuned in to that cut away mid-sentence instead of waiting for a gap between topics. If we're not supposed to pay attention to the chatter, they may as well just be muted. Also 2:56:15 is a SENSATIONAL shot. Great effort all around, guys. Well done.
Crabby's crew did not stop talking. I felt bad cutting away so often, but at some point I need to show the fighters.

The B17 in this game are a modified B17F, with chin turret but are not B17G cause of the tail gun position.
The first B-17 fitted with the Cheyenne tail turret was 43-38473, which was delivered on the 8th of june 1944. There were thousands of Gs delivered before that. Not every proper G had the Cheyenne tail.
When are you going to do a raid on Berlin?. You should look up the book Target Berlin Mission 250.
Oof. That is either a long way of, or never going to happen. These videos are a huge effort to make and a Berlin mission would be about double as long as this one. Maybe for a thousand bucks.

I believe your convergence settings are a bit off. Don't use the default 300. That's too far out. Don't use anything less than 200 cuz mustangs are fast and you need time to pour out enough dps. My sweet spot is around 250. Some of your instances, I could have shredded 190 at those ranges.
Please don't say "You". You need to be more specific. I had my convergence on 150, so you cannot be talking about me. DF didn't even fire, so you cannot know his convergence either. Guess it must be Marcom or Momo.
Btw, do have in mind that the bullets in replays go a bit high and only very vaguely look like what we actually saw.
So I’ve been watching a few videos over the last couple days of created missions done by this group and I’m really looking to get back into this game. Love what I’ve seen on this channel. Is there anyone that follows this channel possibly willing to answer a few questions about il2 1946 to help me get up to speed? It’s been about ten years since I’ve played this game, and I’m looking to get a gaming pc or laptop that will allow me to get the best possible performance and look for this and maybe a few other games in the sturmovik line without breaking the bank. I have way to many of the old mods all spliced in to v4.11 I believe, but I know there’s a full 4.12 version of the game available for steam. Good pilot, but terrible with computer stuff. 😫helllllllp meeeeee👏

I fired it up last night and played a couple missions I created years ago (large scale Battle of Britain with around 80-100 planes on the map), but it runs a bit slow at times, and basically looks like I’m playing on an original Xbox/PlayStation. Lots of fun, but 4k has spoiled me a bit. Still, such a great game though…. Thanks again for the awesome videos you’re posting, man.
