I used to play this game with my sis and cousin, we were doing the first method with everyone so we could get 99 lives. Then we were trying to kill each other until the last survivor. We were not even playing the real game. I think the worst is that we could just play smash bros on wii instead of getting 99 lives.

@@williamstier6445 That specific Koopa Troopa is also programmed so that its shell can be used for the 1-up trick (you can see this in the Reggie Level Editor). Most Koopa Troopas in the game aren't like it (as far as I'm aware, it's the only one).
They still function as normal shells you can throw the shell, jump on top of it for it to stop, you then walk towards the shell while holding 1 to grab it and do the trick.
