    I can't believe Mark never played Mappy before. I actually have more experience with a classic game than he does and that makes me happy.

      I bet hes a least heard of Mappy. Personally i didn't play it until it came on the Wii Virtual Console. Great Game.

      I'd never heard of Mappy until this video, but I have played it before on one of those Chinese 10,000 game NES knock-offs as a kid. So I knew this game as "Mice Climber" (I guess they translated the name of the game wrong or something).

    • @badreality2
      @badreality2 7 лет назад +2

      Sounds like they mixed up the title of the N.E.S. classic, Ice Climber, with Mappy.

      Lol--I was thinking the same thing. Though, in Mark's defense, it really isn't the most common game out there, by any means. I only vaguely remember it growing up, but finally got around to playing it a bunch around 2004/5 with a Ms. Pac-Man Plug n Play I got from Goodwill. I'm really hoping that the Namco Museum on the Switch has secret unlockable games with Mappy on it as one of them.

    I remember playing this on a Namco Game Collection one time. And it was excellent.

    Mappy's one of my absolute favorite oldschool arcade games. Used to play the Famicom version a lot as a kid (on a Nes multicart) and still do. Namco

    “Here’s a game you don’t hear about very often”
    That’s not entirely true. As I’m typing this I’m still in my late teens and a lot of people my age really like Mappy and have fond memories of playing it on one of those plug ‘n play consoles with the 5 Namco games on them.

    Hey Mark. Great game, great video!
    On the bonus screens you can get all the balloons by busting through the trampolines quicker. To do that, bounce against the walls to return to the trampoline faster. You can also do that on the normal levels without dying as long as there is another trampoline below the one you are breaking.
    Your bonus multiplier grows as you chain collect the flashing objects. It's likely that your next flashing object will be in a far corner off-screen leaving you chasing all over the level to chain them.
    At least in the arcade game you can open and close the doors with the jump button while you are far away but facing them on the same platform......by telekinesis I guess. It's handy when you have a kitty suddenly jump up on the other side while you are being chased. They have to run into a closed door, which will knock them out and allow you to escape, unless you have two kitties with a gap between them.
    There is also a neat trick you can use to swing back and forth through the doorway to knock kitties out left and right. You have to start out on the same side to which the door is already opened and . The timing is really tricky but it is a cool technique.

    This game is so underrappreciated. Mappy is legit a really great game, and is a huge favorite game of mine. The Game Gear version is really cool, but in my opinion, the original Arcade version and NES/Famicom version are the best versions of the game.

Such a hectic satisfying game and a great old school chase frenzy to addict yourself to! Thanks as always for an AWESOME vid!!!👍👍

      @@Duttroid Actually, these NES Multicarts has been around since the 80's and the 90's. And the Famicom version of Mappy is commonly included in lot of these Multicarts, along with Circus Charlie, Yie Ar Kung Fu, Twin Bee, Super Mario Bros etc. In the early 2000's, there are still Multicarts, and at the same time there's also lot of Famiclones which basically function the same as NES Multicarts except it's built in a bootleg console, and in majority cases it's in a controller that acts like a console. Super Joy is a prime example of this.

I think that’s the tile game runs well on that one and it’s a fairly comfortable play then I have a Pac-Man shaped plug in play and the game actually runs great on that and it looks golden then I have one of the my arcade handhelds and it runs pretty well but it seems more like the nes port

    How do you mod game gear to play on tv?

    • @sandbender1414
      @sandbender1414 7 лет назад +1

      I did the mod for Mark for this Game Gear. It is a an additional board that gets added, along with you HAVE to replace the capacitors. etim.net.au/ggtv/ggtv.htm for the board. I also replaced the backlight and screen cover. There is also a "McWills" RGB and LCD replacement, which is supposed to be excellent, but I have not tried that. retrorgb.com/gamegearrgb.html
      Needless to say, you need to have all the tools and experience with soldering and desoldering to consider this mod.
      As a shameless plug, here is a link to my repair/mod services: retrogame.cyberphreak.com/2016/11/30/repair-services/
