Hands down the best SFM and potentially one of the best psychological horror movies i’ve ever seen. The eye expressions are unbelievably well done. You can see the madness, anger, emotion in every single shot of the characters eyes. One example is when Soldier witnesses the hanged man in the cell, his eyes show very clear sanity loss/ pure shock at the horrors he’s witnessed.
Another animation made by Fortress Films is a sort of "prequel" to this. It's called Spy's Disguise and it's great. Also, there's a stack of VHS tapes in it, one of them labeled Emesis Blue. Just shows this has been worked on and planned for over 4 years
"Someone needs to make a horror movie out of Overwatch..." As you noted, the Overwatch community is significantly more busy (and profiting off of) making uh... other things.

My favorite thing about this is that despite taking part in the tf2 universe and using it's characters and assets, you don't need to know anything about the game itself other than that it has respawn mechanics and that blu and red are in a war, but knowing about the game brings the understanding of some jokes like the respawn machine feeling like eternity (a lot of times you get 15-20 second respawns) or the intel hell chapter and forwards taking place in 2fort. Makes this masterpiece more accessible and thats great.
I saw this the day the video dropped and man, this is PEAK animation, if not just SFM. It does SO MUCH with so little and does it well. I mean think about it how many horror movies of any kind these days are actually scary? It's rare! Analog horror is one of the few horror genres that still pulls it off and this is a golden example of executing one masterfully.

SPOILER ALERT FOR PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T WATCH THE FILM YET 1:40:47 (...) To end this treason, and corruption, once and for all! *BANG!* No shit the most badass moment ever in the film.
ive got a small theory about this. the whole thing happens in a multilayered reality. with most of the layers being forms of purgatory. medic DIES during/after taking scout home, its shown in the ending, he crashed into something(tree/telephone pole idk) and died on the spot, the respawn machine was permanently shut down at that point. scout also died, presumably in that crash. like i said, possibly when medic took him home. pyros, engineers, snipers, theyre already all dead except for the one soldier kills. when medic shoots himself with spy and soldier, he isnt even there, its really SOLDIER who shot himself, as he also passed into the purgatory that exact scene, seen through the epileptic hell hole he get thrown through shortly after. spy survived, only to be assassinated at the funeral. the scene we see medic at the bar with archibald? he finally passed into the afterlife after everyone else did.
pretty sure soldier is the last merc alive, maybe not, but spy died because of his own ignorance, medic becuase he crashed into the pole after passing out and scout died because of the conaghers, it also looks like people go to Dell's bar when they are on the verge of death, like medic and demo, the only people who didnt go to dell's bar are the ones who never took medic's medication too, it's just my theory anyways
When I was watching this, on a very quiet afternoon no less, my grandpa decided to not knock and just open the door directly which startled me so much I actually screamed for the first time in a while. There was also one time where I continued watching very early in the morning like 2-3am and I heard my door slowly unlock and creak open and since nobody was speaking from the other side I was like bracing myself hard while fully opening it slowly myself and it turns out my grandma had slipped again and my grandpa wanted to tell me so I could help.
there are so many horror references throughout this film like obviously the shining but it also takes alot of inspiration from another story by steven king called the jaunt where teleportation is a thing they call "jaunting" you need to be put into a medically induced sleep to come out alive and those that do come out the other side when not put asleep all say the same thing "longer then you think" before they died to self inflicted injury
