Love how there was pine needles in Josh's beard ; ) Shows he really gets into it. Well done looks awesome cant wait too see it with a bit more new growth
"Mind you that these plants have been planted in ordinary mud. So that is a "secret" I"ll reveal..." Classic Peter Chan demystifying the process of bonsai creation, priceless!
Without Josh we would not have so many videos of Peter and without Peter we would not have this awesome video of Josh. Thank You Josh for your volunteering and Thank You Peter for all of your knowledge. You two are awesome!
I like to watch trees change that I probably won’t get myself . I had to back up the video because I thought I missed josh cut the branch off. Brave choice with that cut , really looks great when finished. Peter I might have left the last little branch out to the right by itself, but I like how it mimics the big one. Well done Josh 👍👏
That was a great styling session. The tree came out awesome, the only thing I was hoping for was a little bit long stub to make a longer narrow gin. But either way, great job!!!!
Great job Josh! Would have loved to come do some volunteering at Heron if I had lived in the UK. Lucky us who can enjoy even from a distance through the videos!
H i Peter, You make a pretty good camera .man you keep the camera very steady. I think he did a very good job on shaping and wiring the tree. Stay safe Peter
I have a few "overly leggy" lined I grew from seed about 16years ago- I can see them getting the Josh treatment this year now! Exactly what I needed to see- thank you both. (Would be great to have a follow up some time in the future to see how J's literati fills out 🙏)
Sweet Josh still asking which wire for the branch. Each is different of course but I just push the smallest wire I think it can take against the branch and if the wire bends it’s too thin and if the branch bends it’s more than capable.
Happy New Year Peter, I enjoy your video,I'm an avid gardener and enjoy flowers of all kinds and tress, planted 2 Japanese Maples in my garden and they are a delight to behold and watch them grow...bonsai is looking interesting for my next project---luv your colourful shirts! fan from Ontario Canada...
Interesting video and quite a way to start the new year...! Personally, I would have brought the little branche at the top, to the other side (first idea) because of the balance of the tree, the movement of the trunk and. last but not least, the crown. Now all branches and foliage are at one side and the small branche is at the "inside of the elbow" and spoils an open space of which I think, is quite nice and should be kept. But, on the other way: who am I? And everyone should go his own path, isn't it? I like the literati-style also. Disadvantage (or challenge) however, is - in my opinion - that the smallest change or decision is of great impact on the design and the result most of the time. And so, the process of making a decision is very interesting on it's own. What a beatiful hobby we share...
What a beautiful creation? Really nice to see what was achieved after unexpected removal of the main branch. I would have preferred not to have that small branch running parallel to the other branch. What if it is used as a back branch or take it the right, to have a feel of balance. Just a thought, but it's really good.
So you can cut these elongated shoots in half like that in januari . Can you still do this in februari .or would that be to late .for spring to come ???
I know it’s difficult when one is not used to it but Josh should talk more and explain his thought process while he works. The viewers can follow along better. Especially those like me who wouldn’t have a clue what to do with a tree like that.
Kupchak people tiry jobs see already just people no tiry jobs people no see what different types beautiful things they dark they see no moon or other heard from already beautiful in night thank you so much kuppum 🥰🥰
I found out that at certain places, there are magnetic vortices such as the Bermuda triangle, anyways supposedly there are high concentrations of this activity in the UK, around lakes, or maybe between islands, you could probably detect them with a satellite. Anyways in the presence of these magnetic fields, it will cause time to flow differently (time is relative) and in theory, you could leave a plant by one, and speed up its growth exponentially, through time dilation, and also radioactivity and adaptation. I will say that plants seem to weather this better than humans, and sometimes these areas are radioactive enough to possibly cause some health issues, if not properly treated. I've witnessed some mutations myself in the presence of these kind of energies. Might be a whole new bonsai technique!
Despite the fact that this tree really looks "interesting" in it's shape, but for me it still looks more like a concentration camp prisoner tortured half to death than a beautiful tree in miniature. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

Not only is Josh a great videographer, but great at bonsai also.

Its pretty funny when he just cracks a joke about bonsai "secrets." The sarcasm was so slight in that comment I almost didn't catch it.
A job well done, also I appreciated how the Master Peter rewarded Josh.
Hey! Literati, Peter and a hot coffee, Excellent! And a new year's unveiling of a Josh masterpiece! Cheers all!
Are you a litterateur?
Thank you Mr. Chan & Josh, beautiful tree! Enjoy it Josh.
Sunday breakfast time

Very impressive work, Josh. You've learned your lessons well; and you have a good bit of Peters boldness of design.
Josh a very capable student and more than just a camera man, peters right hand man.
Josh should do more videos like this. That was very interesting. Well done Josh 👍🏻

Lovely literati pine! I liked it more with the small bits at the top moving to the right, kinda completes a triangular apex.
Great job Josh!

Really nice composition josh. 👏
I'd love to see a video with the wire wrapping to bend branches. Can some bonsai techniques be used to maintain fruit trees in containers?
Nicely done 👍👍👍

Maybe some comments from Peter while Josh was working with the tree might help what he was intended to do.

Nice Tree!
That’s a beautiful tree.
Just getting into Bonsai trees and it's just so fascinating. Would like to start out with something very easy. Any suggestions?
Very nice video
Trunk split the upper and right hand upper branch, twist and wire for future jin on right hand side, ???
Happy lunar New year sir
Thank you Calvin.
Volunteering is the easiest way to get a free education and it seems like he’s learned a lot.
And help an old person out at the same time. Symbiosis!!! Those larger trees n soil are heavy
Very nice :-)

Do you take on students regularly?
Does it get better than Sunday morning coffee and Peter Chan?
Josh♡♡♡
👏👏👏
What species tree?
Great video, but sorry, Peter; I have to point it out:
At 1:15 - "...not a test..."
At 21:17 - "...he passed the test with flying colors..."

Feeling sad, Hindi film playback singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away today 😢
What has this to do with bonsai?
I grew up with her songs especially during my IIT days in India.

I don't like literati, they just look like something that hasn't been taken care of and has gotten out of hand.
Literati is like Caviar - it is an acquired taste. I dont like Caviar but many others do. Get it ?

Sorry ,I just can’t see any beauty in this tree.
People are so interesting. I realy love this one.
