What a great video!! Your suggestions of "stirring the pot" and the use of the palm when coiling are so helpful. Thanks for sharing your knowledge once again.
I am so grateful for this little lesson. I assume this procedure can be used for other species. I am reminded of an experienced bonsai friend's oak seedlings collected from a riverbed. Intermittent flow of water has already begun to create interesting shapes.
You are a MASTER Peter. & a great business man, you're always thinking of ways to pull in people thats great. Your shows are always a great learning experience. THANKS PETER from cape cod
I love these videos about treatment of individual trees. I could literally watch them all day long. But I sure wish you would do more videos concerning staging and display of trees. I have 40 trees I care for but they all sit directly on the ground in my back yard. How does one go about raising trees from the ground ? What is the proper way to display them? Particularly in highly visible space easily seen by passersby.
You need to search RUclips for “how to build benches for bonsai” and “how to display bonsai”. There’s dozens if not hundreds of other bonsai channels and someone else has certainly covered the topic you are interested in. Alternatively you can watch videos where Peter tours his nursery and pay attention to how his trees are displayed. Also there’s videos of Peter at his bonsai collection hosted at RHS Garden Wisley. That’s a fine example of how to stage bonsai trees for people to admire. I don’t think it takes much instructions to replicate what you see. And there’s plenty of other bonsai artists and bonsai collectors who have posted videos of their collection on RUclips you can watch and draw inspiration from.
Nice results Peter There's a Vietnamese guy in Australia who does crazy things with similar black pines, I would like to see you try it with one of these Scots pines Check out Hahn Baloc bonsai

Great demonstration! I am scared to bend the trunk multiple times in different directions. But I guess Peter knows what these trees can withstand.
