Ive had the Antlion modmic for about two years now, it's a little sensitive for my liking(breathing constantly picked up and any bumps to the wire gives off a noise) but the fact that you get multiple mounts is nice since i can put it on two pairs of headphones. My only real fault with it is that the mute slider stopped working a few months ago as my friends kindly let me know after I started singing during a match lobby lmao
The mod mics are not this clear. I had a pair and returned them. They have a bunch of noice when recording on pc. You have to do do post clean up so it sounds as good as it did on here
I feel like the modmic has more bass, but also picks up more noise such as breathing. Though the Vmoda has less bass, it sounds more clear to me. Just my thoughts though
I personally use a lavalier mic for gaming, since it is pretty good for only capturing my voice, and has great sound quality. I personally use an Audio-Technica AT829 since I got it used for like $25.
The Antlion sounded like it has a much wider frequency response but the V-Moda sounded like it was clipping off the bottom of the spectrum. It almost sounded like it had a bandpass filter for the low end of the spectrum.
I run the X2s with the VModa and an AMP. It's really good other than that the Y cable included with the VModa Mic introduces static noise (both on the microphone and headphones) when it is being amplified. I've read on forums and other people have this issue as well. Most of the time I run without the mic.
t103Ninja quick question. Other people who I've seen recommend this exact setup always say to use the mixamp pro tr. I bought my astro a40's several years ago and am not sure which model mixamp I have. Will the one I own work or does it have to be the pro tr? And if so why??
I've got the Boompro and X2 too, using them with a O2+ODAC combo. To solve your issue: get a HIFIMEDIY USB isolator and a cheap usb soundcard with mic. in and you get beautiful clean sound on both mic. and headphones, no ground loop and buzzing sound anymore.
Just wanted to let you know that I like your channel. Always making informational tech videos for the little guy (aka people on tight budgets). Keep it up!
The antlion mic worked great till it didn't. I had it in the case for a few months because I had not needed it. Once the opportunity came up to use it I broke it out and set it up. The mic worked great, I didn't get any clipping, the sound was even and was not too pitchy on the low or high ends. I felt great about spending the almost 60 dollars with shipping until I decided to get out of my chair to refill my cup. I have wireless headphones so I am very accustomed to being able to get up and walk away. This time, I had the mic attached and away it went with me. once it got to the end of its rope it pulled and popped off of the magnetic clip. I shook my head at my stupidity and put it on my desk while I went to refill my water cup. When I got back I popped it back on to its magnetic clip and began keying the mic but no one could hear me. I double checked the mic to make sure it was still plugged into the computer which it was and wondered what was going on. I went through my mic set up and realized that while pc was recognizing that I plugged the mic in, there mic itself was no longer working. I changed computers and tested it to make sure it wasn't the pc I was on and sure enough, the mic registered but was not working. after a few hours of trouble shooting the only thing I could think of was that when it pulled, either the mic side or jack side connection broke. I would not have expected a mic of this price to break so easily but it did. I contact the company and explained what happened and their response was "sorry to hear about your problem but we will do not take returns in this type of instance and we have a 30 day warranty so there is nothing we can do for you. We have refurbished models that are marked down if you would like to purchase another one". Needless to say, I won't buy another anitilon microphone... ever. The take away is this, if you are the kind of person that is very careful with your stuff, it will probably be a great mic for you. If not, look at a different product. I found it very disappointing that it was that easy to break a great microphone.
Tech YES City That splitter makes the sound way better with headphones of course, than putting it on the port of the mobo(the regural one). So anyone should buy this splitter?
I do not like headphones, although I used them for many years [so my wife could sleep while I gamed]. I like my Logitech Z623 speakers, however, I can opt to use my headset when gaming [or simply talking to] friends with TeamSpeak 3. Five or six years ago I purchased a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Z sound card and it works great with my headset and speakers. My headset is Turtle Beach Ear Force X12, even though I use a computer, not XBox [the cord is very long and five or six feet is too short to reach my computer]. ... The software that comes with the Sound Blaster Z is limited yet useful and yields great "booms" from guns such as tank fire in WarThunder, it yields great audio for music too. Note: I am not an audiophile because I have a little "artillery ear" from massive incoming [mostly mortar and rocket] attacks by NVA and VC during the Vietnam War, as our heavy artillery unit was close to the Cambodian boarder their ammo supply was plentiful [not to mention concussion from our own artillery has blown me into the air - great on my body, ears included], and I served in U.S. Army artillery units for many years. - So, please take that into consideration with my comment on audio.
I bought these for my some Sony Bluetooth headphones and I can’t seem to get the microphone audio to come in. The game noise works but my mic audio doesn’t. Any help?
HEY I have v-moda plugged but windows doesn't recognize it and my friends say my audio sounds like shit in teamspeak what do u think causing the problem
Damn that one really impressed me i wanted to buy it but it wasn't available in europe so i had to go with a zalman zm mic1 which is still better than most gaming headset mics out there :D

Hi, I just bought a new headphones (A-Audio Lyric) there are very good but the mic dosen´t work on a PS4, As I read on the net Sony is blocking the mics in the resent updates in order to only work with Sony headsets. I want to buy the Vmoda Boom Mic but I don´t know if sony has block the mic or is continue working on ps4, I appreciated if you can confirm me if still Vmoda Boom mic working on ps4 consols
my problem is that as I stream, I sound good just talking at a low tone, but if I get just a little excited my mic starts cracking and hissing and I've had some viewers mention this to me often. now I do know that I have a cheap pair of headphones (like 20 dollars cheap) but can it really cause that much of a problem?
yeah especially when your stream is small considering when people enter your stream and there's a loud cracking noise they'll just leave and don't even bother.
FreezyPenguin Philips SHP9500...around $55, sounds very good (extremely clear with good detail) and very comfortable. The V-Moda boom PRO makes it a great gaming headset...and if you change out pads and do some custom attenuator mods you can get some great bass out of them along with more balanced and better detailed mids and highs. Right now less than $50 at Newegg for the next few hours.
I purchased the mod mic 4.0 . Wasn't impressed with the sound too much but the worst thing was the cable .It was really hard to position the boom and the cable was highly annoying .The grip left intentions into the cable and the cable ended up dieing rendering the mod mic useless.
The v moda seems like such a better product, almost half the price, no clunky extra cable and clearer sound IMO. If I can find one for a reasonable price in EU, I might get one
Unfortunately only works with removable cables with 3.5mm jack. Otherwise seems great. I have mod mic cuz my cans don't have removable cable. It is also pretty good.
I'm looking for something similar to the v moda but butter. when I plug in direct to ps4 controlle it sounds like shit. way too soft and can't hear any detail when playing fps games. thought it was the headset at first but it sounds fine when I use other jacks
i'm planning of buying a v-moda for the superlux hd668B. So i need a female 3.5mm to female 3.5mm and then i can attach the mic (because of the 3.5mm jack from hd668B)? And what popfilter fits on v-moda?
hey everyone im new to the reddit I don't exactly know how it works but have a question I need answered as I cut find anything on RUclips or google. okay so I bought an xbox and I ordered the Beyerdynamic DT 990 pros with the creative cloud soundblaster x g6 amp/dac and a antlion wireless mod mic.i heard that xbox doesn't support antlion modmics but with I plug my sandblaster x g6 into my xbox and have the wireless usb into an adapter that goes into the mic jack on the sound baster x g6 . would that work? as I have bought everything already and later found out its not compatible but will it work that way since the antlion wireless mod mid will be plugged into the amp/dac not the xbox. would that then make it compatible? please ny input would greatly help
I use modmic v4 with my ATH-AD700X, it sticks just fine and works well (similar cups to the 500X). Don't expect to bend the mic boom closer to your face. It will be off to the side of you mouth, which is where it should be anyway. They don't provide enough cable clips to keep the two wires together (but maybe the 8 they give will surfice for you). I use cable ties but it does mean it has annoying bumps along the cables. Personally, I found the earcups not as comfortable as my previous headset, so I got some Audeze LCD-2 sheepskin leather replacements and they have been really comfortable since.
I have the V-Moda M100 and the Boompro Mic. I plug the M100 through my AMP/DAC to my PC and the MIC to the motherboard red plug. I get static noise in the headset when I use the AMP/DAC with the mic. This is very disturbing and too loud. When I plug then M100 with the mic to the motherboard, the static noise is gone. How did you plug the M100 to run this test please?
LION. ANT LION. LION LIKE THE CAT. Not Antleon. ANT LION. There is a bug called an antlion. It is basically saying "this is basically a lion to ants." ANT LION. ARE YOU DOING THIS ON PURPOSE!?
The GT730 is not capable of handling what you want. Try getting a GTX 750ti or GTX 950. Wait around until Black Friday and you may be able to get them for the same price as the GT730. Now my question to you is why are you wanting to use DDR3 ram with a Skylake i3? To my knowledge all LGA 1151 motherboards (which the i3-6100 uses) take DDR4 Ram. Hope this helps. :)
Don't buy the ModMic 4. After 2 years of use, mine has 2 tears on the cable caused by strain where the cables goes into the mic. I fixed the first one with Suguru and the 2nd one appeared below the Suguru fix after a month. It's like the plastic dried up.
That's 2 years, that's a pretty long time. You also probably helped the second tear by using sugru which added a point for it to rub against and wear through. You should have probably used electrical tape. The new 5 has the mic detachable with a short cord on it that hooks to the longer one, that should help with these issues in the future.
2 years a pretty long time?! Are you kidding? What the hell have you been doing to your cables for you to think that 2 years without a tear in a cable is a long time? I have NEVER had a cable tear on me like this one did. It looked like someone took an x-acto knife and slit the cable diagonally. 2 years is not a long time. It's extremely short. It tore because the material they used for the jacket was rigid and low quality. I bought cheap TRS extensions from China that use a better, more flexible jacket material than the ModMic 4.
Had the same issue! Cut open the plastic barrel where the wire enters the boom and soldered a 2$ TRS female mini jack connector on it with strain relief clamped tightly on the boom. Now it's a boom microphone with replacable 3.5mm male-male extention cord and has been going for another year. But considering modding my HD598 to a 3.5mm input for a V-Moda now, just for the cable management convenience.
+iTr00oW 100 volume, 0.0db no boost, everyone can hear me clearly on teamspeak, i have the mic strapped on the headphones cable and sometimes on my clothes, a friend of mine has the hyper x cloud 2 and i can barely hear him what a shame.
iTr00oW I just have it 100 volume and 30 boost and the sound is fine for me. Also my mic started sounding better when i switched from wifi to a wired connection so that might help too.
Windows 10 has nothing to do with what resolution you can watch videos. Before you start accusing software for something, do some research about what the problem really is. In doing so, you save people from having to read flippant and unnecessary comments like yours.
Are you messing the color temperature because your skin tone is way off.

What's up with that mouth twitching at the start, its really throwing me off lol
That Shits Hilarious
I WAS JUSR THINKING THAT WHEN I SAW IT LMAO
probably testing if slight mouth movement gets picked up by the mic lol
Never say "big budda boom for the bass" again. It gets me going something fierce.
I feel like the modmic has more bass, but also picks up more noise such as breathing. Though the Vmoda has less bass, it sounds more clear to me. Just my thoughts though

Where did you get that small pop filter for the V-Moda Boompro?
I wanna know too!
It's incredibly close, Some might say Antlion by a hair's breadth. I'll let pricing determine this. So, I'll give it to V-Moda Boompro.
I've owned 2 v-moda boompro and sadly both times the cable broke.
@@rickderico356 I’ve had the same one for over 4 yrs. Works like new!
The Antlion sounded like it has a much wider frequency response but the V-Moda sounded like it was clipping off the bottom of the spectrum. It almost sounded like it had a bandpass filter for the low end of the spectrum.

V-Moda BoomPro > Antlion ModMic
Clearer voice, one cable (for the headphones that are compatible) and significantly cheaper.

The only problem with the V-moda BoomPro is, that you need the 3.5mm jack.
Hey tech yes p, your vids are improving and thanks for the recommendations
Going by the v moda prices on Ebay antlion must be making a nice profit.
I love your vids man, keep up the great work!
Why did I buy a blue yeti?
LOL that comment and profile pic
Ikr I bought yeti for nothing...
Young Mist yeti is good why are you complaining
Because the headphone mic is good as well, and U save more money!
I'm disappointed that I bought the Blue Yeti too. It sucks for gaming, it picks up everything.

thnx, i subbed becuz u replied, cheers

only works with ps5
My Boompro is picking up all background noise from keyboards and stuff like that, even with noise suppression enabled. Anyone else having this issue?

Kenning Brichford is it good?
Kenning Brichford ok
How does it sound on the Xbox one?
Can I use the with my wireless headset boze nc 700
What's that foamy thing on your Vmoda?
I don't have one of those on mine.
It's a windshield aka a pop filter.

Aren't breeze shields and pop filters different things?
could you please put the uncompressed links to the sound test in the description?
Are there any other products similar to the v moda boompro for headphones with 3.5mm inlets?
the best mic for gaming BESIDES a Condensor mic is the Sony ECM-CS3 Tie Clip Microphone, by FAR! AND its MUCH cheaper!!!

would the -moda fit my hyperx clouds
Yes, but the HyperX Cloud series come with a mic already.
Pro Mark Yeah they will, but the mic on the hyperx isnt bad.. why would you need to get a new one?
sadly broke and they didint give me warranty :(
oh ok. Go for it. Buy them, i love them myself :)
had the same issue with both of my hyperx headsets.. the hyperx 1 and 2... the standard mic's are shit ._.
What about the modmic 5?

Do these work with bluetooth headphones?
There is audio missing for some microphones in the video.
They weren't missing, they were really quietly as me was a fair distance away.
If I don't find out the name of that intro song, I'm going to explode Brian. Great video though!

I live in the Netherlands and i have one, ordered in on amazon uk and paid about 30 euros for it, wich is about half the price of a mod mic I think
geeltje 35 Was looking for it on amazon UK as well but none in stock :/

Did that work for you? Wouldn't the mic be too low?

Great vid - can someone tell me what pop filter dimensions to fit VMODA boom pro mic?
Nice vid, does the Vmoda work with all headsets that have a 3.5mm input? i have a Sony MDR-zx770bn
is the modmic you used the uni-directional or the omni-directional.
I need to buy a headphone boom mic to connect to a 2,5mm headphone plug, can you recommend some models ??
diogo rodrigues KetDirect or Neomuscia. There isn’t really other options and they are the same
I think the ModMic is definitely a bit clearer
What headphones are those
whats a good pop filter that fits the boombpro?

do this again with the modmic 5

modmic? might as well pay a bit more and get a samson meteor, look on youtube ;)

this test is not representative of what people will actually hear as you need to plug them both into a motherboard
cam these mics work on ps4
Sky Kidd09 You can plug them into your controller. You'd have to get a 3.5 mm audio splitter if you got/get the modmic.

LION. ANT LION. LION LIKE THE CAT. Not Antleon. ANT LION. There is a bug called an antlion. It is basically saying "this is basically a lion to ants." ANT LION. ARE YOU DOING THIS ON PURPOSE!?
they both sound almost the same so the v-moda wins.
Massdrop minimic y'all
vmoda sounds as good if not better than the mod mic and is alot cheaper
do either of these work with xbox?
asking for a friend i swear
V moda or blue snowball
Will i be able to play overwatch with NVIDIA GeForce GT730 (2GB DDR3) 8GB DDR3 and Intel Core i3-6100 3.70 GHz ? I dont have money for more sadface
antlion mic seems much more inconvenient than the vmoda mic
This or the blue yeti
There isn't a big difference
i like more the v moda boompro
Both sound like crap comparing to the lavalier you use.
Yeah, give us some info on the lavaliere. I don't want headphones.
SM 58 FOR THE WIN
they fit different purposes
subbookkeeper
did anyone find out what lavalier he's using?
The antlion sounds and looks better
2 Years for $50 I think its worth it.
My zalman zm mic1 is serving me well
really? people mte me because the sound is horrible.
I have that mic aswell and it is good for me too!
J0pux how did you set it up in windows? i have it +30 boost otherwise nobody can hear me.
+iTr00oW
100 volume, 0.0db no boost, everyone can hear me clearly on teamspeak, i have the mic strapped on the headphones cable and sometimes on my clothes, a friend of mine has the hyper x cloud 2 and i can barely hear him what a shame.
iTr00oW I just have it 100 volume and 30 boost and the sound is fine for me. Also my mic started sounding better when i switched from wifi to a wired connection so that might help too.
Ehh, I just have a cheap Zalman mic
His pronunciation is stuffed! And you do podcasts.....the irony.
Just got on the page, paused the video cause I'm gonna guess the answer.. V-moda, cause they give you free shit? Lets see if I'm right.
v-moda haven't given me anything ever... was actually provided the antlion for free for this review.
Saw this on Amazon didn't think it would be good, bought a mic and arm stand instead, don't regret it.
The v moda one sounds better
Damnit I just bought the ecm13 from sony
the sony ecm cs 3 sounds better than these microphones
i need help my laptop got so slow i can not watch videos at 480p fuck windows 10
Windows 10 has nothing to do with what resolution you can watch videos. Before you start accusing software for something, do some research about what the problem really is. In doing so, you save people from having to read flippant and unnecessary comments like yours.
modmic 4.0 is awesome
why don't you do some giveaways man
