EXTREMELY HELPFUL! I'm a cheapskate who buys jeans on the cheap at ... a ranch/farm supply store chain, usually at about $13 a pair. Anyway, the last two pairs I bought both need to be tapered and I'm looking for ways to do that. Guess I'd better buy a sewing machine of some sort. Will be watching a LOT more of you! Good day!

You mean the stitches? You could just work on the inside seam but it will throw all of your proportions off.

Oh absolutely, it would take minutes on a sewing machine. However not everyone has access to one so this is a good alternative.
