I made this bread today, it came out perfect, thanks for your instructions, I am not afraid to try out new recipes even if it's for the first time. And yes, I NEVER leave out the optional ingredients. As I trust your choice on flavours/taste so much. It tastes delicious with butter!

Love that you address the international viewers. I’m from Uk and don’t use cup measurements. Thanks for translating into grams. Yes we call it plain flour. Will try this without sugar. Will add dried sage instead. X

Well, that's all I needed to hear to decide to make it! This Frenchie fell in love with Irish Soda bread almost 20 years ago on her first trip to Dublin and is longing for some so if I can make it myself and not have to wait until I go back to the beautiful Ireland that stole a piece of my heart that November of 1999, I'm all for it.

I followed this recipe exactly, including the wheat flour, sugar and oats, cut and brushed the top with buttermilk and WOW, it was so delicious topped with Kerrygold butter!! We almost ate all the bread and skipped the corned beef and cabbage, lol. So EASY and FAST to make and bake. Love your channel, thank you, 💜😋

Stephanie, after years of using this recipe exclusively I strayed and tried another recipe last week. What a disappointment. So much so that I am making another corned beef dinner today and your bread just got placed in the oven. I had to make it up to my husband since he loves your recipe. Thank you for keeping things simple, explaining every step and teaching me that when you weigh and use metric measurements that success is almost guaranteed.

Oh boy! This recipe is.a must do for the weekend. I made buns today and had a homemade burger while watching your video. My apartment smells good and my buns came out with just the right shade of brown. I would have taken a photo but I was too tired and achey to wait to eat.
Fresh bread you make yourself makes cold winter days almost tolerable. I don't think it's decadent to make bread regularly when the alternative is a bunch of extra chemicals like store bought bread. thanks for your recipe and your smiles.

Today i will make this Irish bread once again. My maternal parent coming from the west-Indian part of the world called it a Johnnycake bread! So sad that when I left home for Europe I had not allowed myself to learn my Grannie's cooking capabilities and so my sister and i suffered the missing of this during our adult life. Always comparing tastes wherever we were and never measuring up to our childhood days really. Mother married a Panamanian and so Grann would read the cook books and be 'eclectic' to make the best of US, Panamanian (jewish) and black foods from the island of Saba. So I recognise this in your tastes also. Many Irish, Scottish settled in the old days on these islands. Being left behind together with runaway slaves from other islands, to fend for themselves mainly. 🐣 Today I will make once again this bread and this time not forget to add the 2nd part of the 195 grams of flour. Really it had this strange baking soda taste and couldn't find out why Eventually it dawned on me!! Don't laugh like I am now!!
