    If there's a perceived difference between the pit lanes (and it could be a very real difference due to pre-existing rubber) then it doesn't make sense to do a best of three system.
    Do two rounds and then add the times between the two rounds.

    • @amanwholikescars
      @amanwholikescars 5 лет назад +2

      The best of three Systemes isn’t bad as it isn’t based on randomly giving one or another a better time by having one driver be stuck in the worse lane twice, it is used to give the team who was the fastest of the two rounds an advantage . This gives more of a balance as if one team is way better and happens to have something fail on one turn, they have a better time in the next or previous, so they still have a chance, if the rounds were averaged it would be more rewarding to consistency, rather than speed. It really doesn’t matter all too much but the event is supposed to showcase speed over consistency. It's flaws gives one driver a major advantage, however it nullifies mistakes and rewards being the faster team.

    How about doing this on thursdays, fridays or saturdays in F1. Have 3 point for the best out of the 20. 2 for 2nd and 1point for 3rd. That would spice things up a bit

    Gotta love Indy =)
    It's so very American to have this side challenges and such, kinda like how NBA has its All-Star Weekend. 100% prefer it over that boring Monaco GP.

    Congratulations to Marcus Ericsson he got it done fair and square. Props to Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsport pit team! They did it and took down the Ganassi juggernaut! Both drivers cheated their 1ST starts in the left lane. I'm certain that if this was an actual drag racing competition those times would have been thrown out. Scott Dixons' was much more visible and very close to cheating the start. I'm not sure of the definition of the rulings there.

      Excludos I dunno, there’s a fair number of people saying that F1 pit stops are faster. I mean, duh. An Indy pit stop would be a lot faster if they also had 20 guys on the car and didn’t have to refuel.

      Teh Gamist driving in a different racing series full-time for the first time makes you a rookie, believe it or not. Ask Juan Pablo Montoya when he went to NASCAR. Or Fernando Alonso when he did the Indy 500 in 2017. You are inexperienced specifically in that racing series. Just because it’s an ex-F1 driver, it doesn’t mean he’s more experienced than the drivers that have spent as much as a decade in IndyCar.
