Dear fellow.....although what prashasti said was in different context......but my reply is to ur statement .......whether u take this thing as fact or not......it is food-economy......and food is very much divided into class apart from culture and geography........there are food items we can afford on regular basis then there are one we have occasionally .......otherwise why do u think we have labels like street food, restaurants, 5-star hotels.......all becoz of food origination and its general price.....at present we cannot call caviar as street food....and even as streetfood most of seafood cost us more than 70 rps per few peices.....whereas no one in right mind would like to pay more than 50 for a vada pav even in restaurant......and vada pav becoz of its origination and affordability referred to as classic middle class fast food......nothing wrong in there.....food is never mere food it represents every aspect of human society- culture, economy, politics, geography and more......and still food is appreciated and savoured by everyone irrespective of class, origination or anything......

Idk when people think about Maharashtrian food people just think of Vada pav and misal ,pav bhaji...it's so underrated...there so much more to it !

By far Mumbai is the only Host city/ Metropolitan city where everything ‘local’ is looked down upon/not popular be it people/culture/food and the worst part is it’s the non-localities who educate us thinking we didn’t knew it - places/eat outs, etc. and they don’t even understand sarcasm of localities trying to pretend - how correct these new to the ‘town’ beings are! Partly also, e cause localities don’t want to be rude/arrogant and it amuses us to see how much time it takes for non-localities to get around and understand just a bit about Mumbai. Many don’t understand ever in their lifetimes that their realisation of knowing, understanding Mumbai was so flawed :(
