    I got hung up on the sanguino part of the flashing. Your vid was the only one I saw detailing how to upload the sanguino to arduino. GREAT VIDEO!

    instead of hacking the connector on the USBASP, you can also opt to slide the plastic receptacle for the LCD ribbon cable off the board "temporarily". It will slide right over the pins with the help of a small tech screwdriver or can be wedged off with a pair of small needle nose pliers.**MAKE SURE BOARD IS POWERED DOWN** if you attempt to remove it, and ONLY grab the plastic receptacle, NOT any of the pins!!

    Thanks for this! Every video I ran across said to use an arduino. While I have one of those too I have it configured for something else and didn't want to change the programming on it. So glad I could get this setup with an USBasp!

    Thanks for the video. Easy to follow along with.
    I am right with you until I have to choose the port. Mine is grayed out. Everything is plugged in. Under tools I have the board as sanguine and the processor as atmega1284 (16htz). Any ideas where I am wrong?

    Mac users. There is no driver for the USBTinyISP. All you need to do when using a usbtinyisp the to upload the program you must go to file and then use the option "Upload using programmer". The issue is that is not an option so the keyboard shortcut is command + shift + u. That will upload the bootloader.

    Your tutorials are among the best on RUclips. They could be even better if you would talk a little slower. Too many words running together. BTW, how do I know if my printer already has a bootloader installed?

    at 3:16 the jumper is not at the far right position. which position is true??

    • @bobjohnson5218
      @bobjohnson5218 4 года назад

      On mine, the far right position next to the plug is 3v and the one next to that is the 5v. Since mine is 2 years newer and billed as for the Ender 3, it's default position is the 5v.

    PSA: usbasp doesn't show up on the ports, DO NOT WORRY, set all of the other settings and it will work as long as the correct drivers are installed regardless of there being no port. I spent so many hours trying to solve this, also noticed not all of my usb ports worked with it mainly the front i/o, the back was good.

    Didn't work for me, I have the exact same programmer listed in your description. Trying to fix my Ender 3, which has a newer Creality v1.1.3 main board. Tried this method, along with every known different driver for the USBASP; tried using a Arduino Nano as an Arduino as ISP; and lastly tried 2 methods using a Raspberry Pi (one using an automatic script on an SD card, another using PuTTy and manually trying avrdude). Maybe my board is toast, but who knows.

    Hello, Thanks for the video. I bought same equipment and followed to T. After I load drivers which works, I can not get Ardiuno to see as port stays gray. I have gone back and forth reinstalling and uninstalling drivers with no luck. Under my device manager, the board after drivers are loaded shows as name of usb driver folder and is not associated with any ports. Any ideas?

    • @jasonelbert7352
      @jasonelbert7352 6 лет назад

      Sadly I gave up. Nothing I do allows port to show in Arduino. I did drivers just as I should. After loading drivers, device shows under it's own header in device manager and has nothing to do with ports. Tried two computers. Got blue light on board. I'm lost :(

      I can't get my asp programmer to map a port either. I think some of them lack a serial emulator chip or some such fuckstickery, I'm still looking into it. What a pain in the ass.

    caution, i just tried to flash using a usbasp from a US seller from ebay, and had to jump through a lot of loops. first, i couldn't connect and had to install some "usb-k" drivers to connect. then i get this error: "program enable: target doesn't answer. 0 " I couldn't solve this issue yet, and now creality is telling me they can't help people trying to tamper with firmware. sucks. now I can't get my titan aero extruding properly because I needed to change a setting in firmware.
    it's probably better to try Teaching Tech's method (use Uno) or buy a different controller altogether to replace stock (although you need to tune the stepper drivers/or buy expensive TMC2130 drivers).
    update: you can use the m92 gcode in pronterface to temporarily set the steps/mm settings. you won't be able to save anything, so you have to type this in every time you start up the printer.

    My port wouldn't show up in Arduino but i updated the driver and it worked. Download zadig.akeo.ie/ update the driver to libbusbk (v3.0.7.0). The port still will be greyed out but you are able to flash the bootloader.
