Hi, the hot foil uses heat to attach the foil to your material, Cricut’s foil tool presses the foil into the material … it’s pressure sensitive and does rub off a little if you rub your project hard, Cricut’s tool is more like embossing the foil into the material.
Cricut’s foil tool needs foil that is pressure sensitive, as it’s pressed into your material, so not all foil will work. But there are other brands that work … here’s a video that tried out some other brands ruclips.net/video/_RoEa_LiMLs/видео.html
Hello 👋 I bought the foil quill as a set for much cheaper on eBay. It was used, came with 3 different sizes, 3 rolls of heat sensitive foil, and works great 👍🏽

Yes, the bold tip foil quill works the same way, the embossed lines are just thicker. I have the regular, fine, and bold tips for the foil quill and they all work perfectly with the Cricut Joy.

Which pen setting do you use for say the regular size tip?
