I'm Charles Kodner, I'm a family physician. I've been seeing patients for 23 years. I like helping people with complicated problems and try to educate them about their medical problems.
I found in medical school that I liked everything in small doses. I liked to be able to deal with a lot of different kinds of medical problems, but not do the same thing all the time. There's just something about the family medicine approach that really spoke to me. I like people to understand what their medical problems are. I ask many patients if they know what diabetes is or what a stroke is or what atrial fibrillation is, and many of them don't know. I think educating people about their problems and getting them engaged in taking care of themselves and really understanding what they're taking their pills for is important.
I'm from St. Louis originally, went to Harvard University, where I was a math major. That was a lot different back then. I did residency in family medicine in St. Louis. I came here because I was with the University of Louisville Medical School for a long time and I thought their department was really interesting and engaging and I got to do a lot of teaching.
I play with Legos a whole lot, I take care of my cats, I play Dungeons and Dragons, I do a lot of cooking. Those are the big ones.
