My favorite camaro is Chevrolet Camaro II SS
i forgot to add i love ur videos and watching them when u clean this all super clean sport cars
It’s an American barge - why would you like it ?
z28 iroc, no question.
Considering the 84 Corvette only produced 205 hp
It makes me really happy that you guys decided to start showing you guys pulling the cars out from there resting place makes the video 100 times better
Of course! Other detailing channels dont show it and we think it’s just as important to the whole story 🤷🏻♂️
I owned a 84 Z28 , not the quickest, but it did handle great.
@@cmc7106cool my dad owns one
That might be the coolest 80's interior I've ever seen!
no the1979z28.
@@juliebritt8309 hmmm.... is 1979 from the 80s or 70s?
ithink the 1979z28 is the coolest ever.
@@juliebritt8309 missing the point entirely. a 1979 car isn't from the 80s, it would be from late 1978/early 1979... which is the 70s
Bust out the Mullets and Def Lepard cassette tapes this is gonna be a fun transformation!
Comment of the day 😂😂
I’ve always liked the Iroc edition. These cars in good condition are gaining in value
i liked1979z28
Best video production yet: great trip background, car retrieval, fun team, banter, and comments on history of the car manufacturing. It was smooth and fun to watch.
I never understand why people let cars just sit and sit and not give it a bath not start it at least once a month.. mind boggling
Rowdy is a collector of things. There are several different kinds of people in the world, users, thats me, caretakers, and collectors. Rowdy is a collector for sure!
I’m wondering too why? Nobody will pull it out and wash it? Or crank it. Our church can is like this.
Long time fan boys and first time comment. I worked for a Chevy dealer back in 1989-90 in high school. GM was always known for bad paint back then. Not surprised they all had rust. Ironically, when foreign cars were traded in for a GM, the quality was superior to our shit. We’ve come a long way, but they still can’t catch up. Over the span of 5 years I had worked for Chevy, Cadillac and finally Lincoln (Ford). Great channel boys … always enjoy the content!!
Because that was around the time the epa banned based paint and forced American automakers to use water based.
The foreign automakers didn't have to.
I knew a guy who worked at the Van Nuys factory. I was excited to hear his stories because the car I had at the time was built during the years he worked there. He claimed they painted (at least some of the panels) by hand. He also admitted they drank during lunch and didn't take as much pride in their work as you would expect.
@@DesertDweller1 I toured that plant in 1986 and at the end of the line the Camaros started while every Firebird we saw didn't that night. That was the first year for the CHMSL.
Never seen an '80's Toyota Pickup/4Runner with body rot? Yeah, their stuff wasn't much better compared to ours at the time either.
@@PatientXero607 Who is ours and theirs?
That piece between the T Tops you asked about is called an “Overhead Console.”
That pouch was where you kept your massive 80s sunglasses, which I’m pretty sure were mandatory when driving a Camaro in the 80s! Along with boring stuff like registration and insurance.
GM made the Overhead Consoles from 1984-87 in the Camaros and Firebirds.
In Camaros, they installed around 25,000 per year for '84, '85, and ‘86.
Then only 3,366 in 1987, the final year they offered it.
Hope this helps, love your videos!!!
Those were great cars in their day. We had a 1985 IROC-Z Camaro back in 1986, black with red interior and glass t-tops. It was a fun car and my mother even let me take my driver's exam in it. I wish we coulda held on to it but divorces mess up finances and she had to sell it. I'd drive one of those today if I could find a good one. Being 54, these are cars I grew up on. Nice job bringing it back to life. She's worth the investment to make it road worthy again.
The 1970 z28 split bumper camaro is my bucket list dream car.
Loved my “73” 😍
Loved the puro commercial 😆👌🏻
yes
I was 18 in 84. That Camero sure brings back some great Gen X memories! lol Awesome vid guys!!
Thanks for bringing Rowdy’s Camaro back to its former glory. Now it’s my turn to get it back on the road! Looks real good for what it is and was!
Also for those of you that do t believe these are real “Barn Finds” This car was 100% left in that Blue Barn for 10 years! I’ve been trying to get the Chevelle frame that the drop top Camaro is setting on for that long! LOL.
Camaros and Firebirds ruled the streets in the 1980s ~ Until the Buick Grand National scared them all away
The F-Bodies ruled with the girls.
Apart from the rare GN, the 5.0 ruled the streets in the 80’s
@@ianrs6310 So true. I forgot about the 1987 Mustang Gt in white with those awesome cheese grater tail lights. Also the Mercury Capri 5.0 were unique.
@@Shadowman...The terminator as well in 03-04
I had a 1984 Trans Am and we thought we owned the road until we saw a Grand National pull up...
@@JPsLifestyle Yeah, but that scoop on the hood of the trans am was pure perfection in styling.
That interior is actually super rare .
Wow, from a pile of scrap to a shiny car! It's hard to believe my eyes, thank you for bringing this car back to life.
Супер! Рядом с Камаро стоит трактор Беларусь! Класс!👍👍
I love the Z28 Iroc the most out of all Camaros.
Rowdy has a brother named Mongo? That could be a whole other video… Great job on the Z28, I hope it gets back on the road!
Mongo only pawn in game of life 😅 iykyk
You guys are so young. I'm feeling very old. 😂 The things you guys see as an amazing find or feature in a car is just normal items to me. Your videos are so good. Keep those classics coming.
I don't know how old these guys are but I'm 40, and back when I was 18 I bought an '88 formula for $1,100. It was in great condition, but even then I knew it wasn't anything special. I wouldn't pay more than a couple grand for another one. People romanticize cars too much these days.
Hey, I love the introduction of the scenery around where you travel. I think its a good inclusion for your vids. The place looks beautiful! I could never understand how people could eat and leave wrappers and containers in car. I usually ask people to dust out their shoes before coming into my SUV. yep. I will have none of it. I absolutely do not keep any junk/rubbish in my car or on the seats...
Same here !
I have always loved this Z28. The interior is awesome.
1990 RS Electric Blue T-Tops- my high school graduation present. Also wish I had kept it but I will never forget it!❤❤❤
That was my first car too! 1990 RS in Medium Maui Blue Metallic. . . That someone had re-sprayed a darker shade. Engine was the 3.1 V6 though. Wish I still had it as well.
Currently watching this in my 1988 Iroc-z Camaro G92 with 11,000 original miles on it. Love the work you guys do keep it up
The "bolts" on the dash and doors arent all bolts. Some are just casted replicas that cannot be removed. Also the T tops never came painted on the F body platform they were always glass. The 5.0HO was actually a more desireable engine as well due to higher performance.
I was going to say the same thing about the bolts just being part of the plastic.
I'm glad someone else noticed it too. 👍
I had to remove my switch panel on my ‘84 once and the T-15 was not nice to the plastic fake ones. Live and learn lol
@@mikecooley3361 I'd be willing to bet that you weren't the first and you won't be the last to do that.
The more you know! Just young kids learning as much as we can about a ton of different vehicles! :) Thanks for all the new info!
Not all of those trim pieces are "bolted in"! A lot of them are fake plastic hex stud bolts for looks. I found this out because when i took my 1985 firebird apart, i damaged one of them to find out some were fake and there were only a handful of real ones.
I looked up a guide on how to remove some trim pieces and sure enough, I found out the hard way.
Oh nooooo
As nice as the interior turned out I hope they can get it running and maybe even get it repainted to look like new again .
Nice work guys ! 👍
Between you guys and Larry over at AmmoNYC…my go-to stops for detailing goodness!
Love your videos guys!! Keep up the work!!❤❤❤
68 Camaro so beautiful!
It would be so cool to have follow-ups on cars like this Camaro after the owner totally re-conditions and or rebuilds their cars; If the owners actually do what they said their going to do to get their vehicles back on the road. 😊
You wish is my command, well at least on Rowdy's Camaro! Come join us on Mongo's Garage and see what it takes to bring this classic Pony Car back! I have started a playlist there where the brothers and I will chronicle the process!
My dad had one back in 1986. It was a black Z28, 5spd, t-top, with red pin stripes. It had the same exact interior as this one too. Out of all the cars he owned that one always stuck with me simply because of that red interior with camero badging lol. This one brings back memories 👍🏽
IROC Z28 are my favorite. Back in the day 1993 High School days I had an 1985 Silver and red decals almost like this one. It was a 5 speed 5.0 HO carburetor. Tinted the windows, had all Alpine stereo equipment in it. Bra for the front that sucked taking on and off. Goodyear Eagle tires and Dyno Flow exhaust. Oh and a OAKLEY sticker in the back window because I thought I was cool. Miss that car and the good ol days. I regret letting that car go. Good Stuff guys Keep up the good content!!
Same here, mid 90’s I had an ‘84 Z28 5.0 HO. Bra, Goodyear eagles, Alpine pullout stereo, had louvers on the back window but took them off. Had a blast in that car. Sold it when I started having kids and didn’t have room in the garage.
I love Camaros. I fell in love with them when I was six when my nursery school teacher had an '86. My brother had an IROC-Z, and I finally bought my first one when I was 23, and it was a ''97 RS. But then upgraded to a '99 Z28 which was modded to just over 400HP. It was a very fun car.
Packard Walsh wants to know if you wanna race for pinks....

its not plastic
@@workaccountonly ?
It's not a Dodge
I own a 91 Camaro. It is well known that the paint did not stick well to the primer. Mostly on the ones built in Van Nuys California.
I had bought a new 1984 Camaro Berlinetta I had looked at the Z-28 and the IROC but the Berlinetta had more class and the digital dash. It cost about $10K base price but I got every option which made it $16K. 5.0L V-8 (150 hp) T-Tops, Automatic, A/C, power everything. This model had the digital dash the speedo would go up to 85 then flash 85 as you went faster. It also had a Radio/Cassette in a stand alone pod in the center console. It wasn't very fast but it was cool. My next door neighbor had a 69 Z-28 and that was Way cool. I would have rather had that one.
My buddy had a blue Berlinetta. I remember that center console and electronic dashboard very well!
The 87-90 GTA Trans-Am would also be a good candidate for you to do if you could find one.
I currently own a 97 SS Camaro, but if I had the money I’d buy a sixties Camaro with four speed manual. Love the classics!
I agree, the sixties Camero's were the best 👍
26:23 Love the cigarette lighter at three O'Clock right off steering wheel-now that's Eighties!
You guys gotta detail that old tractor

@@Mongos_Garage yeah that one
As a former 1984 Z28 owner and GM technician I could tell ya stories. Mine had the 5 speed manual as I saw too many 700R4's on work benches. T roofs leaked in my 1980 Z28 so 84 was not equipped. HO ( High Output ) had a whopping 15 more horsey's than standard. Firebirds standard had 135 HP . Among the usual tune up goodies your going to need a Bowl Vent Control Valve. That little round plastic thing with 4 hoses to and from. To the right of center near Air Cleaner. When bad it dumps raw fuel and sets a Code. There is a easy Hot Rod trick you can do on the Quadrajet but I'm sure some old Gearhead knows it. Good luck and thx for the memories.
The HO was 40 more HP than the standard 305 LG4 in 84 as the crossfire motor was gone by 84. You also got many more goodies with the HO like electric fan, knock controller, better manifolds and exhaust system, better gears. I would love to have another one of these.
Please disconnect the fuel line before you go to starting these cars that have been sitting for a long time.
What else should I do? Mine the same way. It's been sitting for about 9 years.
Once you know it's turning freely it's important to make sure there's no water in the oil and that the oil is in decent shape. Definitely disconnect the fuel line you don't want to suck a bunch of gunk from the tank. I'm not a big fan of starting fluid unless it's absolutely necessary, I use gas. If you get it fired up and want to run it for a while change the oil make sure it's got water so you don't overheat it. It's not too difficult to hook up an alternative fuel source until the tank and fuel lines are in good shape
@glenn3035 sounds good, I'll go ahead and try that and see if anything happens. Thanks for the tip🫱🏻🫲🏼
@Uly1911 remove the fuel lines to the gas tank, and connect new lines to a portable gas tank, like a marine fuel storage tank.
We did pull the fuel line off and got about a thimble of fuel (If that is what you call it) out before the pump failed completely. We are going to post the process of returning this car to road worthy condition on Mongo's Garage RUclips channel!
That car needs a full restoration, totally love the options on it. Did they make an '84 Z28 with a manual transmission?
Yep, I had one just like this but brown with a 5 speed.
I don't believe Rowdy is planning on a full concourse resto yet but at least getting it back on the road. We plan to cover it all on the Mongo's Garage channel.
You talk to much work first talk later
Your choice to watch the video, if you are that hard pressed by someone talking then put it on mute...simple
Hey boomer, there's a fast forward feature
I just fast forward... 😅
I loved Big Red. I told my mother to ship me a box overseas when I was in Desert Storm. 😁
🫡 thank you for your service and I loved Big Red growing up in the 80’s
I had two 4th gen Trans Am WS6's and both were t-top cars. They all came as glass tops, but they came with inserts that made it feel like a regular hard top. I always kept the inserts in when I had the tops on.
It’s amazing. Some might say a bit suspicious, how many cars are popping up in barns these days.
I am here to testify that this Z28 hasn't moved a bit in 10 years!
I was 12 in 1984. I loved the Z28, my fav car, in fact.
Who doesn’t love that 80s interior
It is fantastic
You did a great job
My brother had an 86 Iroc-Z black Gray interior … I loved that car! mad when he sold it.. but I currently own a 00 SS with a built LS6 sitting for 2 years (needs tires for inspection) but I keep it clean and take it around the block every so often. I keep stable in the fuel and fresh engine oil with marvel mystery oil to keep the internals nice so mine doesn’t end up like these classics. The T-top question you asked about glass or paint matched for sun reasons, the late Camaros like mine they came with interior color matched panels that slipped in with sticky Velcro pads onto the glass panels to keep the sun out, so inside it looks like a solid roof. I personally only used them a handful of times. I mostly drive it in the nice weather with the t-tops off anyways. Keep up the great work!
I live in Melbourne Australia and I bought a Camaro Z28 convertible 1989 last year. It's a 305. I love this car! It sounds amazing and looks cool! Driving it it's an absolute pleasure and fun! Mine was an import from California back in the mid to late 90s. The previous owner gave me all the paperwork this car had, ever since it was in USA. When in Australia they had to convert it to RHD. I'm not sure how many convertible Z28 were made of that 3rd generation Camaros, but it would be interesting to find out.
You guys do an amazing work with every job comes your way and I love watching your videos! Keep up the great work! Chris.
Oh, I'm coming to the USA for the first time in my life on the 4th of July this year(2024). Route 66 tour!!!!!! I'm looking forward to it!
That interior is amazing.
1968 Camaro 💥🏆
This car is absolutly epic!! Nice job W D greetings from germany!!
t-tops or targa tops are great. i love glass or acrylic ones in spring and fall but painted ones for the summer
I own a Trans Am now with T-tops, The interior sun shades are a life saver in the summer.
Incredible job guys as always 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
My 1993 MR2 turbo had T tops with removable panels that matched the headliner so you had the best of both worlds. Think that car had one of the best applications for removable roof panels in my experience, the car was rock solid.
I love the music in the background
That Camaro seat came back to life!!!! So satisfying to watch it get that Red Back.
I love the glass top. I would tint it black though. Blackout everything
So that plate that wouldn't stay open on the carb was the choke and it stays that way until the engine warms up :). The IROC Camaros had Tuned Port Injection (which is a really cool looking setup). I still have my 1988 IROC that I bought new. Great content guys, love the channel!
Sports Car Club of America.
You got the history pretty good.
Instead of 5 liter, the motor was better known as the '302 cu. in. V8.
I almost bought one of those in the late eighties, but got a Nissan 240 SX instead.
Later, I had a '86 Vette I took to Germany that had a similar "bolted" interior look.
man this camaro is nuts!! i love the grey/red/black contrast, and how they did it even on the interior. i wanted to hear his engine but hey, you tried your best. my favorite camaro is the ss, they slap af.
Come on over to Mongo's Garage. We are in the process of bringing this classic back to the streets!
@Mongos_Garage yes! Once I do have time I'll check you out, thanks!
Idk, but that pouch in the middle of the T may be for 8 tracks. 😂
I've owned nearly a dozen 3rd gen fbodies over the years - They will forever be some of my favorites. 91/92 Z28 will always be my favorite of them :] (Glass TTops are the way. They have removable inserts for the inside to block out the sun when you want to, but lots of them have been ruined/trashed over the years)
I had a 96 Camaro with the t-tops, it was glass but had inserts you could put under them to block out the sun
The thing I loved about the 5.0L H.O.'s L69 engine was the air cleaner. That dual snorkel air cleaner made that engine look very muscular, even though it was rated at only 190hp. That same engine supposedly came in the Monte Carlo SS, but it didn't have the same air dual snorkel air cleaner.
My 99 Camaro has glass t-tops, but it also has removable shades that go underneath them to shield you from the sun on hot days. I miss them on my 2012 Camaro. I wish they would bring that back as a feature on new cars.
Like mentioned already, I prefer the IROC editions. My nephew had one with the t-tops, black with blood red interior, and he put in the performance chip. That car hauled ass !!!!
As for the question about the t-tops. I much prefer the factory tinted glass t-tops. At night it’s great to just see out the top and chill while drivin
I worked at a detailing shop in Oakland, Ca in the late 80's, we removed all the protectant sealer they sprayed on the new cars being shipped by ocean. We had a black drop top IROC with zero miles come through the shop, my boss asked me if I wanted to go pick up some parts about 45 minutes away in the IROC, It was tuff as hell to keep a straight face I remember, when he asked me. Lol. I was like 18 or 19 at the time.
On my way back I raced a new Porsche and smoked it. Lol... That IROC was damn sweet to say the least 💯🇺🇸
its way better than the 1st time you pick it up at the barn🎉
Great color combo for one of these, would definitely want the 4bbl carb version 😀
Would have to be an aftermarket one, those quadrajunk carbs were horrible and a pain to rebuild.
Love you guys ❤
This video just remided me that I had a dream that I didnt sell my 1985 red Z28 and that it had been in storage the whole time. I got it back and drove it home. I was so stoked.
Man ,this brings memories, I used to have a camaro Z 28 1983,man you earn a new subscriber .I did so many upgrades on that car .Good all days.
That holder between the t-tops is for an old fashioned "car phone"...they used to be huge!
Fantastic video! ❤
I've always been in love with the 69 Camaro RS convertable blue with white interior its my dream car.
I have had many Camaro's and always loved the glass tops
Back in the day I would use Wesleys bleech white on the tire letters.........stuff is amazing and still available.
I miss raised white letter tires
1984 was my favorite year. Great style, cool interiors, great options. My dad had a cool one optioned out. Not a horsepower monster, but it handeled great and was still fun to drive.
I dig the interior on this car 🤘🤘😎
this wheel sequence is very satisfying. to see more wheels would be cool.
My first car was a 2002 Camaro SS SLP. Drove that in high school and 15 years following high school and someone decided they wanted me to rear end them. Tried to avoid them... I hit their back right with my front left. totaled. I miss that car so much.
Brought back memories for me. Back in the day I had an '84 Camaro, base V6 model. Had the glass t-tops and loved them!
This video really brought back memories of seeing these cars on the road and desperately wanting one! Keep up the great videos! 🙂
Love the interior
You did a really good job on that!🎉🎉🎉
I got an 84 base Camaro my senior year of high school in 1985. It was white with T-Tops. I grew up in Rifle CO and believe it or not it actually did pretty good in the snow. Fun car and great memories.
This generation of F-Body Camaro & Firebird are my favorite. The glass T-tops added head room while also bringing more light into the cabin.
I've always loved that interior
The 5th gen (2013) SS/Z28/ZL1, the 3rd gen (1989)Iroc Z 28, & the 1st gen (1969) SS/Z28/ZL1 are my favorite Camaros.
Honorable mention:6th gen SS/ZL1 (2018)
Oh & glass t-tops 🤟🏽🤟🏽 & don’t forget to lock them down. 😩😆
This brought back some great memories.
It's always nice driving on the back roads around the country side very beautiful view plus a lot of old vehicles
These cars were awesome and changed name in 1985 to the IROC Z and it stood for International Race Of Champions for the racing series in the SCCA and it was also up here in Canada. This car was just the year prior and they all came stock from the dealers and the teams could make certain modifications, but very limited. The upgrade to the IROC Z was $ 700 and those wheels were just called 5 spoke wheels. The option on the sunroof glass only and I believe and the space with the leather holder was upper console. GM was famous for paint delamination back in the day. Yes the coolant was green back in the day not red or pink like today. Great videos!
As LONG time Camaro guy, my favorite is a '70 Z28, short rear spoiler,, FULL FRONT BUMPER and banana lights. For whatever reason, and I know I may be the only one ever, I never liked the RS package look (split front bumper, round parking lights).. I was 20 when the '70's came out, and fell in love with them. I've had a dozen or so 70-73's over my lifetime. Still have and drive a '71 restomod set up for AutoCross.
Usually the glass T-Tops come with insert type shades.
