I honestly love the fact that Waveform video format has become like a niche community of tech fans that gather once a week and appreciate the dumpster fire that can be tech
Lmaoooooo, Marques plays it safe, which I think when catering to a community (tech nerds) that tends to parasocial relationships with supposedly larger than life online people is probably best for your peace of mind
@basicallyhuman My main problem with it is the ads. When you spend a thousand euro on a TV I think that it's fair to expect a premium experience. They aren't all that obtrusive, but they shouldn't exist at all on their more expensive models.
This was the funniest episode in recent memory. I'm glad I can come for news and info while I work and walk away having nearly peed my pants at my desk from time to time!
Recipe pages might be structured like that for copyright reason, but as far as I know, the most important reason is to make sure that as you scroll down to find the recipe, they’re able to serve the max number of display ads. Registering those additional impressions goes a long way.
I love to bake and always hated scrolling through online recipies. The Mela app has the greatest feature to get around this. The browser in the app scrubs the website for the recipe and lets you save it
I laughed so hard through the nutmeg lasagna story. ❤ I have my theory about it too. 🤭 David was probably in chapter twelve reading how grandma loved having a cup of hot chocolate with a pinch of nutmeg in it while waiting for lasagna to bake and just speed read that chapter so fast that only words "cup" and "nutmeg" were absorbed. 😂 Also you should never question the grandma, right? 😂
The Fisker Ocean has definitely launched, i worked as an intern at the company who produces the Ocean(Magna) and there are cars being shipped to customers right now, also there are quite a few waiting to be shipped of from the factory. Love the Podcast btw😁
I have RUclips premium and I love it, the video library might as well be considered infinite so there is always something interesting to watch, it's cheaper than most of the ad free subscriptions for other streaming services, and I have a free music streaming app included 🤷♂️
Okay LG hit gold they just need to extend battery life and added stylus support. This is a really cool product! How much memory does it have because it was running applications? Could it read SSD? Could you plug it into a dock?
I am curious why you don't upload a video version to Spotify? They've allowed for full video podcasts for a while now. Is that an intentional decision?
LG really nevers stops to surprise me. They always make the most unique and outstanding hardware, that suddenly is so extreme, that no-one care enough, and they end up going to waste. Thankfully, after all these years of reasearch, and the technologies they have developed, even if their products don't sell, they still have the knowledge to make other amazing things.
IDK why people always cringe at a vertical screen. I get it, but this one makes so much sense. could be useful for social media marketers. Bring this to a meeting, set it up on the desk and share your phone screen and everyone can see what you're trying to demonstrate. Having an extra display in a suitcase seems like a very niche but great idea. just saying 'what would it even be used for, watching tik toks?' is really picking the lowest hanging fruit.
Honestly I feel like that LG suitcase TV could be kinda cool if you were living the van life. You just put your TV away when you're done with it to save space (though at that point why not just use a laptop or whatever, but still :p).
The current Fisker company is not the same one as the one that made the Karma. Same CEO, bit the old company got bought up and Henrik Fisker founded this new Fisker brand. The Ocean is being build by Magna in Austria. There are already some delivered to customers in Europe. From first videos they seem ok, but software seems to be a mess RN. All of the other cars are more or less far away
Audio-only Spotify listener, but came here to make this comment (also because I had to see that crazy TV-in-a-box): Wait, you're saying the Ocean isn't out yet? I've SEEN an Ocean, on my random, you-don't-go-on-this-street-unless-you-want-to-get-to-this-street-because-it-doesn't-go-anywhere street in my residential neighborhood in SF. Just checked my google history and apparently I searched for "Ocean car" on September 11th. So unless they came out in the month between this podcast and then, I can at least confirm that they're testing them out in the wild.
The Fold is great in that it steers you into using the big display. Everything is better with a full screen. At one point I started wishing they would do away with the outer display entirely to bring down cost and super charge battery life. But then my outer display went down (my fault) and had to use my insurance. While I waited for the replacement phone I used the phone with only the main display and instantly missed the front screen. It's perfect for notifications, quickly reading texts and emails and changing songs and podcasts. Really it's pointless to pass up the main display for frequent tasks. It's sort of like going to formal event where the front screen is the cocktail hour and opening the main display is opening into the concert hall. 😅
It’s really interesting to see the differences in discussions around EVs between European channels and American ones. The guys didn’t even touch on how bad Tesla’s move is from an environmental point of view. Carrying that dead weight and just holding on to finite resources without benefiting from them, all for the sake of increasing profit…
The Americans have been conditioned to think about nothing else besides Creed and certainly to ignore the environment. And really just ignore the rest of the world, my stay this is someone who has been living in the United States my whole life
Two trivia ideas, a third question at the end that they havent been able to think about. Second, the marques andrew and david bring their own questions and ask the other two, you get points normally if you get a question right, but you also get a point for each of the other two who get your question wrong, maybe pre trivia finale as an attempt to 'stack' your score before an upcoming finale episode
wow Yt subscriptions prices in the US are wild, here in the Philippines I had YT Premium for a while on a student discount for what is the equivalent to $1.69 a month, and the non discounted is like $2.85 a month
RUclips stopped showing videos on home page (like those random suggested videos) if the watch history is turned off. I had to switch on the watch history just to get the home page.
The LG briefcase TV is lowkey amazing. It's like a better "sit around the laptop" experience in every way. Heck, maybe you can actually use it as a portable second display for your laptop (I dont know if it has HDMI/DP or if the wireless is fast enough). This seems like almost mandatory packing for family vacations.
Maybe I read too much about EVs but I can't believe none of you have heard about the Fisker cars. And they have delivered a small number of cars in the last few months. Also, Lucid has cars on the road. Come on!!!!!
I wonder what the mouse cursor was at 52:45.. Maybe screen recording the video instead of recutting the RAW Original Footage? (Or downloaded from RUclips again)
One more headline from a hat: the EU recently passed legislation that force mobile phone manufacturers to create phones (and other gadgets) with user replaceable batteries from 2027.
I was thinking the same thing about charging to 100%. In theory, you should be able to charge to the reduced "100%" state, and technically the cells not actually being at 100% would help ensure battery longevity. I still don't like software locking, but I wouldn't be surprised if other manufacturers adopt this strategy to incentivise people to buy a new EV and, glass half full, also have the benefits of extending battery longevity.
So on the Tesla battery I think is a little messed up cause they are not utilizing all the battery. So, when the battery can't hold a charge or takes longer to charge at its end of life you wasting more resource putting extra battery density that you are not using. So, that means Tesla is creating more e-waste.
I hate the idea of software locking products. My honest idea of a perfect ev, is a dumb car with an electric motor. I’m not a fan of companies have that much control of my daily mode transportation.
LG should have designed the screen as a folding screen to make it widescreen. The other part of the briefcase is useless. The suitcase will stand if it's open 180degress
Wow didn't know it cost that much in the US for a RUclips Premium subscription, in Egypt the Family plan for RUclips Premium will cost less than 4 USD per month. and there is no option for buying RUclips music alone
Yes the recipes by themselves are not protected by copyright but a story associated with the recipe is copyrightable. So these website (and cookbooks) will add stories so that no one can just copy the entire thing. You can copy and share the recipe itself.
I have T-Mobile modem/router combo 5G. It has a Sim card in it and it’s another line on your phone bill. It also has a battery back up, if the storm takes out the cell tower it’s game over.
the LG monitor seems smart for hackathons etc. where you have to bring your own monitor if you want to have additional one (bigger than normal portable monitors)

So you may have to spoof your modem/router's mac address. On the subject of fiber networks being unground, actually most fibers in Canada are installed in the air due to cost. As far as network shortage, again like Marques said, as long as the receiving end has power, you will still remain connected on the internet.

Could have done with a 4 hour WVFRM podcast this week to fill a hole....IYKYK😅
All I know is I’m not going to be cleaning the house this weekend since I don’t have my usual hours of background noise 🫢😆
lmaooo that would require overworking your employees, I don't think MKBHD is like that
As in LTT?
Lmaoooooo, Marques plays it safe, which I think when catering to a community (tech nerds) that tends to parasocial relationships with supposedly larger than life online people is probably best for your peace of mind

Andrew has lots of energy in this podcast. Also he really nailed some jokes. (Specially the "I doubled my point" joke)
Loved it!🔥
Andrew is goated
By 2025 i will start supporting the tesla charging plug XD
Will miss him a lot on the channel when he takes his leave.
Andrew's super funny on the podcast, love having him on it.
Andrew is that guy bro
LG will always have a special place for me because they rescued WebOS.
LG's take on WebOs is one of the worst TV operating systems imo.
WebOs in spanish sounds like huevos which means eggs but also testis hehe

@@drachnaSamsung TVs and Android/Google TV also have ads everywhere. What TV doesn't at this point? (PiHole to the rescue)
Hands down the best tech pod on the webs 🎉
Really appreciate that it's also in video-form!

Protip: there's a chrome/firefox extension called Umami that will remove all that filler and show you just the recipe.
I guess I should have clarified more, but yea, I just kind of assume we all understand #1 priority is always to slam you with ads haha
there's also usually just a jump to recipe button right next to the print recipe button, at least for recipes I've searched.
I love to bake and always hated scrolling through online recipies. The Mela app has the greatest feature to get around this. The browser in the app scrubs the website for the recipe and lets you save it

im guessing stealth wrap and all that jazz?
Honestly as a live TV graphics operator I can imagine so many on site sports productions that would really benefit from having these LG TVs
Fisker shipped their first 22 units of the Ocean in July
Not touching the LMG situation with a barge pole 😂
You know, not everyone needs to voicing their opinion on everything that happens
Good. We don't need it.
It's a tech show. Not a Yt drama show.
Also when they have that agreement to use other guy clips, why would they talk about it?
I was surprised that they didn’t.
Andrew is showing his funny side more and more every episode
I have RUclips premium and I love it, the video library might as well be considered infinite so there is always something interesting to watch, it's cheaper than most of the ad free subscriptions for other streaming services, and I have a free music streaming app included 🤷♂️
Would be interesting to use the Chrome summary tool on The Onion articles!
David's lasagna story was great thanks for the laugh guys 🤣
I love it when Marques goes: It's Waveformin' time!
And then he Waveforms the whole podcast.
Okay LG hit gold they just need to extend battery life and added stylus support. This is a really cool product! How much memory does it have because it was running applications? Could it read SSD? Could you plug it into a dock?
The big drawback of leaving work early on a Friday is not having this podcast for the commute home :/
I wish you guys had addressed the LLT situation
Okay that lg suitcase is genius since it has a stand
Also I'm 100% here for the headlines in a hat format.
The fisker ocean is already out (at least here in Europe) as i have seen reviews on RUclips by owners of the car
I'm here 6 minutes after the video was published without having notifications on. I think I'm addicted, LOL.

1 cup of nutmeg is 112 grams which is 1/3rd the LD50 dose for someone weighing 60KG. 3 cups would be deadly.
The LG TV part. This is great if you do trade shows or have a booth. That's the best use case scenario I can think of
Love this podcast! Breath of fresh air every time.
Love the hat format! Killing it as usual!
Some one who needs to look at pdf documents all day on the road would love the LG StanbyME due to the Portrait mode.
We've officially reached the lull before Techtember. Suitcase TV is the headline.
