Hi when the came out first I bought a pair of them in .223 and .308 the were a great pair of rifles the only down side fitting nv of older style the full lenght picatinny rail ended up being in the way to fit a 8x56 scope you needed very high mounts other than that the we’re flawless for 6 years
Company eliminated 376 steyr a few years before for this model ....Hade to add this load for this nice rifle ...also needs heavy barreld version . also cals like 6 × 47 lapua are good choices
Hi Chris, I remember holding one for the first time and loving it. Just seemed to have everything and well made as Steyr are and still are. I could be wrong buy I don't think the finance team came into discuss changes like with the likes of Sako. I was always suspicious of the practicalities of the front bipod and how long they would last in the field. You can tell it's been designed by someone who loved rifles though as the mags are so good and as you say the spare mount in rear is something I'd like to see on other rifles. Q. Just wondering if the Pred Evo mod would fit without hampering bipod rotation ..... Thanks for the review .....took my mind back to the mid nineties where seeing this rifle and the Aug always used to get me smiling 👍🏻
That’s got some fantastic features on it and I love a plastic rifle, everything I own is synthetic stock, but I just can’t get away with how ugly it is, maybe I’m just not down with the kids anymore
I had one on a whim. I'd say what a mistake. Bulky, Poorly thought out, clunky bolt throw....Cheesy bipod. Scopes mount way too high because of that rail on top....Safety was desinged by engineers that know nothing of how to use a rifle. Mediocre accuracy. In all, probably the most "cant find a use for it" rifle on the planet. Got rid of mine and bought a CZ 527 Carbine. At least the Steyr wont rust.
The gift that keeps on giving! The Steyr Scout! Seems exceptionally accurate; not by Steyr’s standards but everyone else’s.
Thank you!

Quick point. Supposedly Steyr pioneered Cold-Hammer forging. I have heard nothing but great things about their barrels, accuracy with longevity.

Styre probably didn’t see forward mounted NV becoming a thing but looking at it it would be ideal with the long weaver rail !

Nice work, cheers Chris

Always a good styre...
Steyre ???
Would you shoot 556 ammo in this rifle? I've heard they are listed as 223 because of European laws about not chambering military ammo.
Would the ior recon scope fit this rifle.
