Trivial point, but as you mentioned industrial estates... I needed a new dustpan and brush and was shopping in Tesco at the time. Now, Tesco homewares seem to be predominantly manufactured in China, which I try to avoid buying. Imagine my delight (boring life!), when I found said item in Tesco manufactured in Spain! I was more than happy to support our European neighbours. If only the UK could do the same - at a competitive price.
👍👍👍👍👍👍Hi friends just to tell you this...Tourism in Spain represents 12,60% of the economy and 15% of the workforce in Spain. Thanks for sharing this video!
Hi Barry If you visit Bar Avenida in Los Palacios around 10.30 pm you will see hoards of Spanish workers having Almuerzo (Elevenses). The owner Jose is amazing and you see how the Spanish enjoy there work breaks. It’s an experience in itself. Thanks or sharing.🍀
Great videeo Barry. That village would suit me down to the ground. Lots going on without all the inconveniences of the busy tourist towns. I've lived in both and I much prefer the more civilised atmosphere of a Spanish town 20 or 30 minutes away from the coast. 😀👍
This is Catral. It’s a proper Spanish town surrounded by farming. In this area of Spain they don’t have pueblo blanco- they have neat streets with nice church squares. This is a friendly town- mainly Spanish with many English and Dutch. 20mins from Alicante/airport. 20mins to the beautiful beaches/elche/water parks/safari park/holiday places - quesada/torrevieja/lots of golf courses, amazing restaurants. 40mins from Benidorm or Murcia. A great base for varied holidays.
Looks like a small town rather than a little village! The little village near our house has 5000 residents. Multiplied several fold in summer of course!
We are in Daya Vieja, near Benijofar and Guardamar. Love it in Daya - it's very quiet, very Spanish but with a wee mix of foreigners. Everyone mixes, everyone lives together - the local bar encourages Spanish for ordering, especially from the kids. It's near to touristy things if you want...... or not if you don't. Like the entire region to be honest!
I love peace and quiet, but I think I'd also want the balance of some vibrant life. I'd love the sunshine though, specially as we have cold, cloudy weather in the UK today 😉
Ah, it is Catral...I thought I recognised it! Best steak in the world at Kambalacha. I stay out in the Campo near a place called El Mudamiento (makes Catral look like a metropolis 😄). One other cool thing about Catral is Sheerin´s, where you can get a pint of Celtic beer. 👍
A lot of furniture actually been made in spain using there pine , i have bought from companies in albacete and visited on occasions , been to trade shows in valencia, there is great companies all over spain , some of the best restaurants are in industrial estates because of the workers , i couldnt live more then 20 mins drive from coast though
Too late for myself and my wife , but all power to you and your good lady , the village set up sounds best but ,I take it has doctors near after your health scare. You seem to putting the time and effort into integrating .Great video cheers.
Hi thanks for watching. Yes there is a local public health centre for the doctors and also a 24 hour clinic for emergencies is just a few minutes away in the next town. It’s only 20 minutes to the hospital as well so quite well placed. Several dentists too (there is always an abundance of dentists everywhere, we’ve noticed 😂).
Okies Barry, yup the Campo villages are way too quiet for me. The zoned industrial areas at least show signs of life but the residential streets are like a ghost town in the siester hours and the tumble weed rolling down the road 😎 For me personally it would have to be a bit nearer to lively but not mad like Benidorm. As a singleton I would find it harder to assimilate fully unless I was in a more(?) touristy area. You have Karen to help you integrate easier and BE ACCEPTED(?) by the Spanish locals. Cheers mate and keep putting out life in Spain content.
you want deep spain? go to Los Prados! bloody horrible! we only went there cuz we were stuck for accommodation in malaga for 1 night! and were curious!! it seemed similar to where you were, difference was no nice back street bars or pretty squares. just street after street of factory units, 1 pricey hotel, and our pokey airbnb. The highlight was this chineses owned bar, which we assumed would be cheap due its popularity, it wasnt! ah well lesson learnt!
Even though Spain was the place to go visit and live in the 70's and 80's it really has lost its appeal, attraction and value for money since the Euro became the equivalent of the Great British Pound..... but I guess it must seem like living in Dubai compared to Scotland !!!! 😂😂😂😂
Mate, you have a voice of a hypnotherapist, 😂 you should do a course, very interesting. I did it years ago and set up a small practice. Don't do it now but lots of people need help with anxiety, smoking etc.
Technically yes, you’re absolutely right, it is classed as a town. It’s very small compared to other towns we spend time in, and I suppose it’s just our habit to call small rural places villages and not think too much about the correct terminology.
@@ScottishCoupleInSpain Tostada con aceite de oliva, tomate y atún, típico desayuno mediterráneo, buen precio en invierno en verano se duplica con los turistas.

These kind of working towns just not attractive enough. Why would you move permanently for that? Centre of historic towns where you have interesting architecture and culture on your doorstep much more appealing if you want to be in the thick of things or a pretty pueblo blanco where there is some infrastructure if you want somewhere more quiet.
It’s actually very clean and well looked after compared so some places I could mention. But, it’s not exactly a picturesque, white washed village either.

Interesting fact. Jameson whiskey use white oak from Northern spain for their barrels.

We’re about 20 minutes to the nearest beach and we do miss having it on our doorstep.
Shortly, we'll be moving to a Spanish pueblo with less than 500 people, can't wait for the peace and quiet. Never again will we live in the city.
